Their impatience is somewhat senseless. The same page has been up for over an hour now. The way they want us to hound it at the second is like that page will only be there for 5 min before changing again, which it hasn't. So really, we would've found it eventually, we didn't need someone coming in IRC to tell us.

It shows dedication and a sustained interest. They want to know that we are continually here.

They can check the forums to find that out.

It doesn't matter how they do it, they want us to do something. We either do it, or the game stops.

Or you could stop posting in this thread, like I am doing now, and concentrate on the game so they have something to look at on the forum.

It shows that they can't make any pages on their website auto-expire. Pages are always cached for me. Wink

I respectfully submit that he was not correct. The activities that seem to so upset him had not been active for quite some time when he decided to crack the whip. Nobody posted to the Sanctus thread after Hawk's post, and nothing had been going on in chat since "The Miracle"'s flyby.

I am playing the game. However I do not take kindly to threats, especially from PMs or architects. How they deal with their frustration with us is their problem. That they would try to make some of us herd the others into their desired configuration is insulting.

I agree. When the PMs come into IRC to tell us to refresh, it tells me they don't have any patience. The site had not changed for some hours, and I had been checking it. It also tells me they enjoy messing with us (which we already knew). Earlier today, they waited until we got all the hidden text cleared up, then they immediately posted the clear text. It seems clear that they are watching the forum.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to cause a massive rile up. Who would have the thought someone making as dramatic an exit as Icarus did would still be hanging about with such frequency.

Things that make you go hm.

snicker.

Is it a game?
A soap opera?
A nagging spouse?
the pet project of an ambitious and over-emotional undergraduate?
or a PSYCH EXPERIMENT?
I want it to be a game. with puzzles. and clues. That stuff has been awesome and top notch!
I'm sort of sick of hearing stories about the PMs being nagging and critical of how fast or not fast we're solving stuff. That's so weird. Anytime I hear any word of the PMs (and, by the way, I think it's better if we don't hear anything from the PMs until after the game is over. It's more fun if nobody moves from behind the curtain) they're angry or threatening to end the game or some other negative thing. Are they really being so horrid or are the stories getting distorted on this forum?
I dunno, man, I have fun talking to Brody, I have fun trying to figure out the clues, and I have fun throwing ideas around with you guys. But somehow about once a week this game leaves a bad taste in my mouth: social drama, weird and needy pms, bizarre game hierarchies...
It's a psych experiment. It's the Biosphere. It's a middle-management crisis. It's the prom committee. PMs, we love you at your best, when you are paying more attention to the clues and the characters than the way you WISH we were playing the game! You can't criticize your audience for not reacting to your performance the way you want them to.
Or maybe I'm getting a skewed perception of what you're saying to the players because I always hear about it third hand. If that's the case, I'm sorry!

Heather, the architects love you...They want to be your friend, and most importantly they want this "ARE" to succeed.

From what I can tell, the architects have gotten a little worried about keeping the game going, mostly due to a fiscal dilemma and it's up to us to revive the game and keep it going. I don't blame them for worrying or wanting us to be more motivated and interested..I mean, it must hurt for them to work so hard on a video or a puzzle and then see only 1 or two people care enough about it to start a conversation.

I know it is hard to see things from their eyes, because we are here as players, to play and have fun. We are not losing any sleep if they lose a couple thousand bucks or their game doesn't work out. But they are stressed and especially with everything that has been going on lately with "ICON" and random "hacks" or whatever they are, it must add additional drama on their table as well.

Let us just do the best we can, for them, for us, and for the game to survive. Everything is picking up again, and hopefully new players will emerge without thinking that everything is too complicated (because it really isn't...And the architects are making sure that new players won't feel out of the loop by working everything with the 48hoursinpurgatory.com site that keeps changing and the Youtube videos.

Anyways I have tons of faith in this group and I know we will make it and we will finish this game without it ending prematurely. We can prove to them that we are worthy of all their time, effort, and money. Because we are cool like that Smile

<3 Hopefully that eases your mind a tad Smile

I personally don't think the PMs/Architects/TMs/Storytellers whatever they are called are making this very inviting for new people. I have emailed everyone involved and no one is really telling me anything except the same "speak into the void" email...
