I have to correct you. I can't help it. It's just my fuckin' nature.

As the biggest Godzilla fan I've ever met (not saying I've met myself, 'cause that'd be weird, but you know what I mean....right...?) I gotta inform your ass that Godzilla was actually a superhero-type-o'-guy ("guy" as in "monster") in some of his movies (the really, really, bad ones, which, for some reason, are the most well-known here in the States).

I thought I just said that. If something is threatening the Earth of course Godzilla is going to be the hero. In fact they've gone as far as to summon Godzilla to come to thier aid, but that doesn't mean he does it out of the kindness of his heart. I was going to say there's even a movie called "Godzilla, Please Save The Earth" but I think that was a videogame. My point is that Godzilla doesn't really LIKE people very much and would much rather crush them and thier buildings than not. If your such a fan you should at least know THAT much.

Okay, time to clear some stuff up...

By "superhero", I meant that, yes, Godzilla does occasionally go out of his way to help people. He even guest-starred in a Power Rangers-esque show called Zone Fighter. In Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster, it is revealed that Godzilla only hated people because they hated him. Once they started cheering him on, I guess that changed. (Specifically, the main three Godzilla movies in question are Godzilla vs. Hedorah, Godzilla vs. Gigan, and Godzilla vs. Megalon). He was changed to be a hero because Power Ranger-type shows were so popular at the time in Japan.

And to xboyonfirex:

Yes, Godzilla started out as a "villain." That gradually changed over the course of the original series (toward the end, they tried to change him back a little, but the series ended). In the other two series, he was always a "villain".

who's to even say that we even need Clover/Tadpole to even be good... I'm okay w/ what he is. I mean, I want there to be a sequel to at least establish our monster as a little more intelligent than what he appeared to be, but still a bad ass all the same.

I didn't mean anything like that, I just thought you were trying to say I was wrong. In reality, neither Clover nor Godzilla would be villains; they're just big animals. It's not unusual for animals to fight for various reasons, so there doesn't need to be a definite "good vs. bad" scenario.

Were you even adressing me the first time?

I was just stating it. I mean, who's to say that our monster won't have the same fate as Godzilla's? Stay villain for a bit, then introduce other 'worse' enemies. And one day, a Japanese director can tour the U.S. w/ his son and be inspired to make a new monster to rival ours.

Hmm. Yeah. I'd be much more interested in learning more about MGP, though. I think that keeping it "monster vs. people" would help to keep it more serious and realistic. If done right, though, it could be cool.

That makes sense.

Well, I definitely haven't seen all the Godzilla movies. I've seen the collection though and it's wide enough to be an encyclopedia. I know he started off as a villian and I know they've even killed him a few times (Once they turned the ocean or a lake into acid and rended him to a skeleton if I recall correctly.) And eventually they started summoning him to save the world right? I always assumed he hated humans because of pollution and wars (or something like that, they talk about it in Final Wars). I'll tell who he doesn't get along with: King Gidorah. Or even worse Monster X (Also King Gidorah).

But it's like I said, look at how long Godzilla has had to develop. It'll be a long while before ATT is established enough to be taking any challenges I think.

If the "collection" is the one I'm thinking about, it probably isn't as wide as you think (they always tend to put the same movies in them).

Final Wars is a stand-alone sequel to the original Godzilla. Like most of the movies in the Millennium series, it has it's own continuity, totally unconnected from all the others in between. As you said, they killed him a few times, because some of the movies are in different continuities from either. The stuff about wars and pollution and whatever was part of their "explanation" as to why there were so many other monsters (a war creates a pteranodon...?).

If I sounded like an asshole in my first post, it was unintentional. I just can't help letting people know when their assumptions or impressions about things like this are incorrect. Wink
