I had Lost recorded on my DVR, so I saw the commercial in HD.
I paused and frame-advanced the scene where they showed a nice shot of the creature (the scene just before they go into the subway).
MGP is one ugly-mutha-fka in hi-def.

THANK YOU!
Hopefully more people will see the movie again this weekend. I'm already going to see it again twice.

And now we truly know that the purpose of this movie, this ARE, was not to entertain us, but to find a new path to monetary gain.
It's always about monetary gain first. And then it's to entertain....not necessarily "us" as in uF. I am of the belief that the viral marketing team didn't really concentrate on any one forum or blog, including uF and CFClues. Sorry to say that....but they put out viral stuff and a movie for the entire population of moviegoers.
Sorry that it kinda hit you like a brick wall.
Since this was never an actual ARG in the first place I can see how it happened as it did, and understand why they did what they did. Attendance was slumped after the opening weekend...so it's natural they are gonna do a new commercial with the monster in it, showing a little more "tease factor" to those who have yet to see the movie.
They got that "path to monetary gain" because of a great product and genius marketing. But regardless of that, the catalyst of all of this was that little teaser in front of the Transformers.....1-18-08, JJ Abrams.
I love it.
Peace.

I have it recorded in HD as I stated last night. I never did get around to posting it online, sorry. I will grab a few screenshots when I get home after work.

I agree, it was time to show a glimpse of it's face in the commercial to attract some new viewers for this weekend. There are a lot of people I know who have not seen it and want to wait until the DVD is released. Maybe this will pull them in?

I completely agree. I've tried to convert a lot of people and the majority who haven't seen it ask if they show the monster. The "Blair Witch" references have people thinking it's gonna end with Rob peeing in a corner.

I can say that now, but I gotta admit that it really creeped me out when I saw it. I wasn't one of the people who thought it was real, because a friend actually auditioned for it way back in the day, but I still thought it was really well done and scary. But I think there was so much backlash from most people not seeing anything in the movie that cloverfield knew not to make that same mistake.

People that don't see this in the theater are really missing out. This was really intense in the theater.
