Transcript -
(This video picks up after V gets to her birthday party.)

V : Hello, happy birthday to me. I guess uhm, I guess you guys got me. You guys got me well. As it turns out I'm twenty-one today and you can make a documentary about how stupid I feel.

V goes over to talk to a couple guests, she giggles a lot, then mumbles and says `` Sorry I'm late. `` They talk for a minute, it's hard to make anything out. Michelle walks up behind V, taps her on the shoulder. V turns around, Michelle says; `` Hi. How are you? `` and they hug.

V: I missed you so much.

Michelle: I came in to surprise you for your birthday.

They hug again, V squeals.

V: I was (something) oh my God!

Video cuts to V explaining who Michelle is.

V: This is my friend from Montreal, I didn't expect her here. I'm so shocked right now.

Video cuts to Arkham, he gives Brody a thumbs up.

Arkham: We got her good man. We got her good.

It seems to me, and I'm just hypothesizing here, that it was Brody who put together the whole party. Arkham looks at the camera (again assuming Brody is behind it, which is a reasonable assumption) and says "we got her good." To me that implies that they as in Brody and the rest of the SKG crew perhaps, at least Arkham, set it all up. Which also implies (I may be stretching here) that Brody had a thing for her even years ago when this party happened.

I think the video was shot in 2001, yeah? She was 19 in 1999 when she first moved to new york...right? Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

The picture is black and white with just the eyes being in color. Either they're telling us to observe, look for something, or simply doing it for artistic effect, I can't say for sure. But the eyes are windows to the soul. And that picture definitely draws the attention to his eyes...so it's like they're telling us to look into his soul.

Thoughts?

The "we got her good" I think referred to Michelle more so than to the party.

And yea I agree it seems like everyone was so happy there. Brody told me V and Ark had a lot of disagreements but I guess this shows Ark to really do care about her (whether as a friend or more I dunno)

I think you left out an important word there... V says, "This is my best friend from Montreal." She seems quite moved. The video is a tad out of focus after the zoom, but she did look very surprised to me. Girls do that swaying huggy thing when they're very happy and emotional, so it was a big moment.

I'd say the surprise of having Michelle there, and the trouble Brody & Arkham went to to arrange it, moved V more than just the party itself.

I would agree Petunia. Any of us would be very moved if someone had gone to the trouble of bringing a close friend to see us.

What strikes me as strange is that she acts like she hasn't seen Michelle in quite some time. You would assume that with V living in New York and with it not being that far (I know it is quite a trek though), that they would see each other quite often.

That's the sort of hug I give to friends I haven't see in forever Smile

Aw,watching Ronnie's 21st party again is almost like watching home movies of a friend who is gone. And the Brody's Blog comment(sic):"I asked V's mom if I could be involved because she was like family...." rings so true and tragic now. Like watching a vid from your heart.

Thinking,also,that Leith is right about the artistic eye coloration renforcing the idea that we are really seeing something genuine happening,not staged or controlled--that the other vid tag "this is who we were" casts even Arkham in a kinder light. Whose "heart/in motion"? Maybe a few?
