Hey, today I started lurking here(cos PET is moving too slow) and I still have a long way to go, so forgive me if i dont have a clue... but
(1,5) (2,7) could be a logical serie...
the nexts posible pairs are (3,9) or (3,10)

also the ecuation of the line that moves between those points on a XY plain
is
y = 2x + 3

Edit:
seems like i didnt read it all Razz
I go back to lurking

Listed as tried:
125227; 65; Axis; 90; 45; clock; Hopscotch; Cancer; RX J086.3; 857; 2057; Leet; rugby; N to E NbE to ENE; NNE to E; odds; betting; connect; dots; rally; compass; matrix; north/east; north/northeast; 3 to 8; 8 to 3; 3 to 1; 1:25; 2:35; atlas - cms alice - ap pm76; SPS; 3 to 1; 3 to 11 5 to 13; "3,5,7,11"; 2; a Line; y=2x+3; y-5=2(x-1); y-7=2(x-2); y-3=2x; 4y = 5x + 3; 1/2; 0.5; .5; 4/5; .8; 1.25; backgammon; 3 to 9; 3 to 10

Areas tried-- Literal (125227), Stars (btw there is a G7 star in Ophiuchus, but unnamed), compass, time, LHC diagram, primes, slopes

I'm thinking that the answer should be unique in expression or the software should accept multiple answers. I.e. 4/5, .8, 0.8 either should all work or should be an excluded class of answers...

Oh, i tried Lookup w/ all the PO folk and got zilch.

Driving penalty points--is this ever variable in the UK? Like "Speeding 1-5 pts"
Physical feature -- As in Sandy Point, Maine?????

I'm fried, and it's me bedtime. Go you GMT people!!!

No worries, nachouru. At this point, ANY ideas = good ideas.
In fact, I don't think 3 to 9/10 had been tried, so I did, and ....No soap.

Wait, another thought occured to me...
I wonder if the Jason Leyton is emailing is the real Jason? Because the emails you've been recieveing, Leyton, don't sound like Jason at all-- and the way he refers to M&R as 'the couple' really sounds like it's a member of PO or even Jen/John, whoever they are.
I wouldn't email 'Jason' anymore with the info, Leyton-- I really don't trust him at all.

Well I had 2 emails of Jason's and if his emails/site had been hacked... I think he would have found a way to let us know.

I've been racking my brain w/ this ALL DAY at Uni and just cannot seem to get it.

J hasn't emailed me back since last night... And I'm getting a bit worried about it now cos according to Gerry they've solved 004 internally and 5+6 will be done today...

Arggg!! *Pulls out hair*

Edit: Darn... I was for a split second almost certain the answer was "Arc"; it took ages to tell me authorisation was denied Sad

Have tried looking at a 50p as has 7 sides and crossed over the letters next to point 1 to 5, 2 to 7 which kind of make IETN but is a no-go, then went for the shapes and tried looking at the angles of pentagons and heptagons but the angles came out as 108 and 128.5714286 which seems a bit long to me - just thought I'd let you know what i've tried! Hope someone else is having better luck!

ROFLMAO!!! That's not what I meant Laughing
But that's a good idea, giving it to your colleagues-- I'll try giving this to my dad & my math teacher, see if they can come up with anything....

I honestly cannot believe how difficult this is appearing to be...

I bet the answer's right in front of our noses :/

I attempted the Vandermonde Method...

Quote:
Find the cubic polynomial which interpolates the points (1, 5), (2, 7), (4, 11), (6, 15). Answer: p(x) = 2 x + 3.

Tried Vandermonde, Vandermonde Method, Cubic, Polynomial, Cubic Polynomial, 4 to 11, p(x) and p(x) = 2 x + 3 - Got absolutely nothing.

Edit Also tried this which I found...

Quote:
For example, if you have a quadratic with points (1,5), (2,7), and (3,1), then the second difference is constant, so:
5, 7, 1 (-13)
2, -6 (-14)
-8 (-Cool

Then 1+(-6)+(-Cool=-13 is f(4).

Tried every aspect couldn't get anything still...

fyi, so you don't waste any time on it...

i started thinking and glanced at my phone.
i know it has little to do with points, but, for what its worth

1jap 1jaq 1jar 1jas
1kap 1kaq 1kar 1kas
1lap 1laq 1lar 1las
1jbp 1jbq 1jbr 1jbs
1kbp 1kbq 1kbr 1kbs
1lbp 1lbq 1lbr 1lbs
1jcp 1jcq 1jcr 1jcs
1kcp 1kcq 1kcr 1kcs
1lcp 1lcq 1lcr 1lcs

i tried 1lbs, but none of it seems to fit the clue

btw, did anyone find anything of value in the "ABN" newstory? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp1idXIfsf4)

Did you notice in the lookup for Martin and Rebecca on 1in50 it says "...we must save him/her"? I was holding out hope that they had run away and were hiding somewhere. Actually, I was hoping that when we solved all the puzzles we would be left with a clue to where they were. Jason started this hunt asking us to help him find his friends.

It seems more likely now that they are locked in a basement or cell somewhere.
