Something that might be worth noting in this thread, we've had a breakthrough in the other trail: http://www.1in50million.co.uk/ quite probably the "outside force" trying to take down PO.

Anyone else thinking that PO is behind the LHC in some way? What's just come into my head is that they're maybe building their own, outside of CERN. They were all about changing the world with knowledge, maybe they mean the discoveries they could make with the LHC.

In Martin's list for number 5, when he says, "Work on Ophi."
Do we think that means cracking the .OPH files (Ophi being the plural)?
Or that he was working on something in support of PO?

Hm, well he was working on the LHC, so I'd lean more towards the "Working for PO" view. I can't be too sure though.

Some very interesting info about the LHC at CERN and the test they are gong to be doing this May.

Check out the link to Computing and the Grid Cafe.

It seems that Dani borrowed most of the stuff he wrote about from CERN and the Facts and Figures page.

Very interesting stuff. Imagine the possibilities if all goes well.

I haven't read all of this one yet, but sounds interesting. LHC @ home

My favorite thing from the CERN website:

Quote:
Let me conclude with this last related joke: An engineer, an experimentalist, a theorist, and a mystic, are asked to name the greatest invention of all times. The engineer chooses fire, which gave mankind power over matter. The experimentalist chooses the wheel, which gave mankind power over space. The theorist chooses the alphabet, which gave mankind power over symbols. The mystic chooses the thermos bottle. "Why?" the other ask. "Because it keeps liquids hot in winter and cold in summer." The others: "Yes, so what?" The mystic: "Think about it. That little bottle: how does it know?"

Hehehehehe.

Wow, lots has changed...

This thread had only 30 pages last time I checked in Surprised

What has happened since a week ago? I'm guessing this is for something since it was moved to the CF forum...

Uhm. Check the wiki?

The Locatemyfriends.co.uk storyline got added to it, which prompted the move to CF far as I can tell. There's been some things we've cracked and some things the PM Jason fed to us... And then most recently the big meaniehead went and took away all our espionage fun. It is teh lame.

Just hanging out atm to wait for developments and then there'll be more actual solving to do once we get stuff "decrypted" which we think is really fixed. There were files full of binary that were nothing but gibberish, and the going theory is that a 0 or a 1 got off somewhere and the whole thing got fscked. Hopefully (hopefully) things will pick up and improve soon. There's been a streak of walls that the PM had to improvise a rope over for us, and hopefully that was just a fluke.

As for what's been going on in PO itself, I'm not sure when you left in the timeline since I got brought in for LMF and didn't play PO... It's been totally on hold since LMF started, and the last update there was saying that the missing participants were identified as Martin and Rebecca - the names of the 2 people LMF is looking for.

There are currently no authorised files.
Each file requires authorisation by 10 Participants.

Phase complete after all files are authorised.

Hmmm interesting.

This "login" Seems to be connected with 1in50M.... I was just able to connect to P.O with the same info I signed up to the 1in50M intranet.

Coincidence being as I never signed w/ Project Ophiuchus???

Edit: If you log in then go to Authorisation you get a drop down of the six .oph codes, now it says "Image not found" on each one which means evidently P.O don't have the cracked file yet.

There's also an open typable box and it's asking for the "Authorisation code" - But you only get 3 tries to 'authorise' it.

I think we need to decipher the "?" in regards to the authorisation code.

Hint - it's not the 5/6 numbers in top right hand corner (8,8,16,5,7) I tried that and used one of my three attempts lol

Just a slight WTF moment with that. I didn't bother trying to login as I figured we were still waiting for that from Dani or somebody associated with PO. I'm starting to think the original path of the PO side died.

Sign up on the 50Mil site, then use that login on PO.

The home page has changed to show that ten "users" have authorized the files.
