 Help needed with math/logic puzzle
(and for those that like these kind of puzzles; a fun waste of time!)

Hi there!

I'm REALLY bad at math, so I could use some help with a puzzle... Embarassed



By entering 3 of 30 'modifiers' listed at the right, you have to go from the Key at the top to the Target at the bottom.

Each symbol represents a digit:

1 = C (symbol that looks like a C)
2 = V (symbol that looks like a V with an extra line and a dot)
3 = X (symbol that looks like an X with a dot at the bottom)
4 = Z (symbol that kind of looks like a Z with 2 dots)
5 = P (the symbol resembling a mushroom)
6 = 8 (the symbol resembling an eight)

When 'adding' symbols, it is important to know that there are no zeros, and no digits larger than 6. So you count 1-2-3-4-5-6-1-2-3-etc.
For example: 2+3=5, but 5+3=2 .

The Key-symbols equal 13156415, the Target equals 46625465.

Which of the 30 modifiers should I use to go from the Key to the Target?

I'm assuming the actual math part is to be done in good old base10 as there are no zeroes on the Key, Modifiers or Target.

That said, and if I understand the puzzle, the closest I can come using only addition and "unique" modifiers is:
+ 13255125 + 13425124 + 14433262 (Over by 7644461)

Using Mixed Addition and subtraction:
One Subtraction;
+ 13425124 + 55262435 - 35214235 (And it's variants. Over by 4274)
Two Subtractions;
+ 63253331 - 16421226 - 13425124 (Under by 62069)

Using subtraction, only:
- 14433262 - 13425124 - 13255125 (Under by 74582561)

Reusing any of the modifiers 2 or even 3 times also does not balance.

So, is it possible it's using Multiplication and or division?
Or that it's really supposed to be Base6 math with no zeroes?

To my knowledge (although I might be wrong), all one has to do is add, and each 'modifier' can be used only once.

Each result greater than 6 starts again from 1 (so a 7 becomes a 1, an 8 becomes a 2, a 9 becomes a 3, etc.).

Luckely, no more 8-symbol codes with 6 different symbols have to be decoded. Very Happy

All that's left now are five 10-symbol codes, with 7 different symbols. Shocked

Any more puzzles like these, and I will run out of Oxazepam/Ratiopharm pills sooner than expected. Mad
