A Trout is not a bad thing... It's more a "Congrats on finding this on your own, but we're talking about it over here" not a "Wow dude, you're super late. LOL."

unfortunatly I've seen it thrown around in here (talking about Cloverfield general/updates here) as "we've been discussing it for ages already, you idiot!" (note: this phrase is just to convey the general attitude I've seen, lately) I've seen some vicious trouts around here.

Now that's the roar from the movie, not the roar on the site.

I love the use of the flounder (created by this subforum) and the trout. The rules of trouting are there for a reason... the same way there are rules of etiquette in any conversation.
What we have here on this forum is a conversation. The absolutely minimal and very polite rules we as a community create as to how to hold this conversation, while imperfect and always evolving, work well for us.
I saw the philosophy of these "rules" summed up while I was on a family ski/ snowboarding vacation at Stowe:
Respect gets respect.

So what your saying is that if someone happens to mention something you've talked about before... you feel like they're disrespecting you? I just think its ok to point someone in the right direction for the rest of the previous conversation, but don't be a hypocrite (some of those trouts i've seen are pretty nasty), you can tell them respectfully. its not like there's that much new info that needs urgent discussion lately.
(and the other thing i find kind of ironic is that trouting tends to bump the thread back to the top, rather than just ignoring it and letting it drop off)

lol, give it time... this forum slowed down a LOT now that the movie is released and the viral marketing pretty much came to a screeching halt.
