Message from Delilah --

After I sent a multitude of e-mails to Edwin's address, I FINALLY got a reply from her (from a different e-mail, no less):

My message:

Quote:
So, I need a reply. From whomever is receiving. I'll keep sending e-mails for however long it takes, with this exact same message.

You know the number, you know the e-mail. When it comes to relentless, I'm your Pandora's Box.

From: delilah(at)silverladder.com

Quote:
You are most persistent. I am not a particularly useful contact for
you...I have no power to aid you or yours.

I do however applaud your dedication. Tell your friends I am not in the
mood to pander to a mass of emails. But I would be willing to entertain a
limited discussion with you and/or the one known as Loli.

Have a lovely evening,
Delilah

After a while of my not replying, she sent this:
Quote:
Did I misjudge you? I saw persistence. I guess I overestimated your clout.

Ah, well. No matter.

My reply:
Quote:
Quite the opposite, Delilah. I take my time to ponder things over. No use in being hasty.

Loli is currently unavailable although I know she wants to speak with you. Have no fear, I'll pass the message on. In the meantime, might I be an adequate substitute?

I won't stop searching for Edwin, although we have received information as to his possible current whereabouts. Morcar's location is also nearly within our grasp.

I'm surprised you replied -- after all, you seem to think that I don't have anything of value to offer you. Or, do I?

Respectfully yours -- Clementine

Her reply very soon after: (Javaman got a reply as well with her stating me as 'broken' by not having replied)

Quote:
Ah...so you haven't broken. Good. I feared your spirit had
dematerialized, much as Morcar's mind.

I repeat, I have little to offer - and we now know you don't have Morcar,
and therefore, have little to offer in return.

So, a conversation then?

My reply:
Quote:
Me? Broken? That's quite an assumption, dear Delilah.

My attention is yours. A conversation we shall have.

Delilah:
Quote:
I'm afraid I allowed a moment of presumption to come over me. I will remember to avoid that in the future.

My reply:

Quote:
So my dear Delilah,

May I ask what was intended by silencing Jonah? Whether or not we have his voice is of irrelevance. We're smarter than you think. Jonah is well aware of this too.

Oh, and keeping Edwin to yourself is also of no concern -- we will find Morcar before you.

You have nothing to go off of. We, however, have had past contact with Morcar as well as having discovered his location earlier this week. I think you and I both know which party is more adapt at uncovering things.

I can't imagine your delay in locating Morcar is making the Queen any happier.

Delilah:
Quote:
You are a most fascinating personality. I find it amusing that you andyours feel I have made these choices. Ah, but is it not misguided rage? Killing the messenger only soothes the spirit for a moment.

Me:
Quote:
Please don't misunderstand, Delilah -- I'm quite aware whom is giving the orders and whom is merely following them. I do not see you entirely at fault. However, you can't tell me you are not without a hand in the current situation. But, I am not one to dwell.

Is there something you'd like to ask me, perhaps? I have questions of my own, but I'd rather give you the floor first.

Delilah:
Quote:
I can't deny that I do enjoy my job.

I have no questions for you. I stand by my assessment that the Passengers
have little to offer in this. Dedication, but no destination it seems.

Your ball.

My reply:
Quote:
Do you consider yourselves close to locating Morcar? I won't ask details -- that's cheating, after all. Just curious as to whether myself and the rest of the Passengers should step up their game a little.

You'll know my next question as I've asked it before: Do you know of Edwin's safety? If so, can you divulge?

Am I to take your identity at face value? Edwin might tell you -- I'm rather distrustful at first encounter. Ours was not exactly under pleasant circumstances. I realize that if you're lying, you'll lie further. However, I cannot quell the urge to ask.

Delilah:
Quote:
While a few have questioned my position, this really doesn't matter to me.
I feel my role in yesterday's events should be evidence enough.

Edwin will be quite safe. He's far too useful. Though, if his
belligerence continues, that might fade.

Morcar? We'll find him no doubt. Information is there for those who know
where to look.

My reply:
Quote:
Fair enough and thank you, Delilah.

I feel I must apologize for any rudeness towards you from my fellow Passengers. Most are simply frustrated with the recent turn of events. I hope you can understand, although I'm sure the ruffled emotions are satisfying to you.

Also, I'm quite sure the Box means little to you. Edwin could just build another, correct?

That leaves Morcar -- helpless and seemingly useless in a near vegetative state. Apparently he's more valuable than you are letting on? I wonder ..

Delilah:
Quote:
No question then? Speculate to your own ends if it suits you.

As for me, I have time to entertain one more message at your option.
Errands need attending.

My reply:
Quote:
Haha, the curiosity in me immediately asks, "What errands?" but I'll leave that be. Your business is your own. (But not for long).

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me, Delilah.

I hope you have a pleasant evening.

Delilah:
Quote:
Good evening I assume. I, on the other hand, am off to my morning.

Me givingLip to Delilah

My Message chain with her so far.
START AT TOP

Me:
Quote:
Are you too good to talk to me? You think your above me? Come on Talk Envoy.

Delilah:
Quote:

I'm quite sure I will find nothing of use here.

Me:
Quote:
Really, Is that how you feel? Treating a passenger like that. Well we will be the one finding Morcar and the Box, Not you. And when we do, It will be you asking us for help.

Delilah:
Quote:
It's nice to see some fire left in one of you. I feel poor, poor
Clementine must've been broken.

How quickly even the dedicated surrender.

And I see you've left me a challenge. A race, then? Well, you may be
fortunate in this - a head start, possibly? While we now know that you do
not possess Morcar (for who would suffer the loss of such a dear
acquaintance and not give up a worthless husk), we have little else to go
on.

...Oh...excluding the resources of the Queen.

Good luck, then.

Delilah:
Quote:
I look forward to it, I'll be waiting for you at the finish line.

Delilah

Me:
Quote:

Delilah,

I'm not entirely sure who I'm mailing... only that you are called Delilah. And I'm not entirely sure why I'm mailing, because to be honest I'm rather irked by this whole situation, what with the queen saying she'd like to wring my neck and have me choke on my own tounge... Anyhow... She is a queen and royalty is often prone to this harsh view of those below them. I do hope you don't mistake my message as ill-respect. It is not.

There are people, who in this desperate time, will take desperate risks. they will lie to you.. pretend to be what they are not... try to manipulate you... only because they are upset and rash.

I promise you I am not doing that. What you find below is fully and completely honest truth.

I respect the queen. I respect you. I respect Edwin, and Jonah, even Morcar. I respect the fellow passengers, although I often do not support their actions. I question, however, the operation of the deck. It would seem to me, based on her address, that the queen sees the other suits of the deck and frivolous and unnecessary. On this, I disagree with her, but i respect her commitment to her main ideal. I only hope that her power does not blind her.

In regards to Edwin, he is a great friend, and I miss him dearly. I would give anything I had to know that he is safe and free, and give even more to be able to speak with and see him... But i want to make this very clear: Even if I did know The whereabouts of Morcar, I would not trade him for Edwin as you suggested to a fellow passenger. No life is worth more than another, and additionally I doubt Edwin would forgive me! People, as lowely as they may be, are never ever pawns. they are never worthless. A human being is a vessel of information, a creator of art, a lover, and something worthy to be loved. Morcar is no less than that. Do not expect us to be that simple and easily manipulated. Do not underestimate our resources. Do not insult us! There has to be another way! And I do hope that we can strike up enough of a relationship to work together towards the greater good.

I do wish that the passengers and the clubs, especially the royalty, can become close again... but I fear that this blatantly hateful action on the part of the queen has separated us. I also feel that she painted to heavy a stroke. We are not all dis-loyal. We are not all dis-respectful. I give her majesty all the respect and loyalty she deserves... and Ask in return only that she does not hurt those I love.

~Melody {A.K.A. Mouse Of Hearts}

Her Response:
Quote:

Quite passionate. So noted.

Mine
Quote:

Delilah,

While I appreciate your noting my passion, Isn't there more to it? What good is all my passion if it does nothing? What purpose can I wield it for? How can I help Edwin? How can I help Jonah? how can I help you? How can I help the queen? How can I help the passengers? How can I help anyone!

There must be more than this dead end.

-Melody {A.K.A. Mouse Of Hearts}

Her response:
Quote:

I'm sure there will be more, Mouse. As for now, errands need attending.
Good evening (I assume of course, you are in the States).

My Response:
Quote:

Delilah,

I assume based on your tone that you are asking me to leave you be. I will do as you wish. I hope I have burned no bridges. Please contact me again if you have some errand to which I can attend.

~Melody

I know my approach is different than yours... and some of you might question my loyalties. I don't know whether I'm supposed to be loyal to the deck, or to the ideals of the deck... And from there whether I am supposed to be loyal to one ideal over another.. one suit over another.
For now, I remain loyal to the queen of clubs, but distant and wary.

Ptolemy is taking an all together different approach which I hope he posts. [/i]

Nothing back yet, but this is what I have sent:

Quote:
I'm amused by this little Milgram experiment you and the queen are doing.

Care to share more info? You see, I find no alliance with clubs, I much more identify with Spades, which I've come to find the Queen quite despises. How funny, I know of ANOTHER group who hates Spades as well. Pretty interesting!

So you see, I don't much see her as an authority.

Let her come to chop off my head. I'll deny her until my vocal chords are severed.

On the topic of the Milgram experiments:

Wikipedia wrote:
The graphic novel V for Vendetta refers to the Milgram experiment. Dr. Delia Surridge describes it, briefly, in reference to her own actions during a series of experiments at a concentration camp. Disgusted with human nature, she states, "we deserve to be culled."

Her reply:
Quote:

Ah, so the bold Loli has returned. I heard of the group's protest. Quite
a showing. How'd that work out for you?

I've discovered something very useful to our cause. How goes the
Passengers' search? Quite dead in the water I'm sure.

For the record, I don't dislike Spades at all. Their useless rambling is
quite amusing.

Have a lovely night there in Michigan. Oh...and now I can ask Jonah
anything you like. What should I tell him?

Delilah

To which I replied:

Quote:
You may not dislike us, but the queen certainly does.

What EXACTLY is your cause? Is it to help Morcar and help the whole deck,
or is your cause just to please the QUEEN?

Ask him whatever you want, it's not my job to prove to me you are only
helping the deck.

I have this beautiful image in my head I must draw. Perhaps by your next
email, I'll be able to show it to you.

Guten Abend, little Delilah.

Quote:

What is my cause? I serve at the pleasure of the Queen. It's a job I'm
well suited for.

So, you see yourself a spade, do you? You'd do well as a club. I admire
your killer instinct and lack of fear. Quite impressive. Now guide it
towards matters that you can actually influence. There's little for you
here.

Have a lovely night,
Delilah

My reply:

Quote:
No, you see, I actually care about my friends, and would never do anything
like IMPRISON someone working for me. I see some value in nonsense. Not to
mention my own religion is Discordianism. I have too many emotions to be a
club. I'm much like Jonah, which the Queen dislikes.

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc287/Oekaki_Link/delilah.png

There's your drawing.

My lack of fear is more of me being fed up of fearing the deck and being
kicked out. Jonah's seen me freak out about needing to be accepted too
much. I'm done. Don't care if you accept me. I'm going to help find my
fellow Spade, and I'm going to help Edwin. Understood?

I can like Clubs when their information isn't used to hurt people. I can
like Clubs when they are able to have an emotion or feel love for a
friend. I can love a club when they don't have an issue with people
disagreeing with them.

So what can I influence, Delilah? I have seen a lack of anything any of us
can influence. I don't even know who I can really trust. I'm sure this was
the feeling you wanted from us.

So you got it. What can I do next, Delilah? What can I do next?

Actually, Edwin is quite the bore. Jonah is not really my kind of

certain, autonomy.

Location: Some house I found. The people in it are really annoying.

Okay, I've jumped on the Delilah bandwagon and have emailed her with this:

I wrote:
Good evening, Delilah. I've heard many things about you and have realized that I haven't properly introduced myself.
I am Chronus Valtiel, and as a representative of the deck, I request an audience with her majesty the Queen of Information.
I understand that another among us has been given such audience, and am simply wondering if there is room for another mind in this upcoming discussion.
I also have a few questions for her majesty regarding her recent decisions and the future of those involved.

Also, it's a pleasure to speak with you, Delilah.
I look forward to your response.

Yours Sincerely,

Chronus

To which she replied:

Quote:
I'm sure it will be a "group" activity. She hasn't made these things
clear to me and I don't press.

Meaning the Queen might come into vent. Will update with any other questions I may ask, but I'm weighing in on that decision.

UPDATE:

I decided to reply to Delilah's answer with a question, and a bit of brown nosing:

I wrote:
I see, I see. You seem to have a certain loyalty to her majesty that is, I must say, admirable, judging your autonomy as one who is not a part of the deck.
I don't mean to pry at all, and you certainly don't have to tell me, but do the two of you have a personal history? You seem to be her messenger purely out of the kindness of your heart. As I said before I find this extremely admirable, but the reason is just bugging me, if I may be so blunt.

To which she replied:

Quote:

Oh..not the kindness of my heart, but the generousness of her wallet, and
certain access, and excess...

Meaning, ultimately, that the Queen is just as corrupt as everyone has suspected.

At the desire of Melody I will post this, here is my line of e-mail interactions with Mistress Delilah.
Quote:
I hope that you will be gracious with me and give me a moment of your obviously very busy time. To begin, I would like you to know that unlike my fellow passengers, I will not let my heart and emotions override my propriety. A Queen is a Queen and due great ammounts of respect and since she obviously respects and trusts you, you are, likewise, deserving of my respect. So, with a deep and proper bow, I would like to begin. I have composed a petition to Her Majesty the Queen of Information and Peace, I would like to be able to communicate it to her. Edwin is a dear friend but I also must bow to the power of the crown. I am but a humble passenger on a journey which has led me to find friends and knowledge and understanding and all the while stoke the flame of my curiosity. Her Majesty weilds great power in the lands in which I journey and for her gracious tolerance of us I am grateful. I now only request that you allow me to petition Her Majesty for a dear friend who has greatly aided me in reawakening my thirst for information and knowledge. As Queen of Information I do hope that she would listen to a pupil pleading for his teacher.

I hope to receiving a reply from you. Blessings on you.

Long Live the Queen.

Respectfully yours, your humble servant,
Ptolemy

She responded (very quickly I may add)
Quote:
Ah, yes. Edwin mentioned you.

The Queen does not accept direct communication. I will however, bring
anything relevant to her attention.

I then replied:
Quote:
Milady,
The speed of your reply bears witness to your graciousness and nobility. And I am grateful. Below you will find the petition that I have drafted for Her Majesty:

Your majesty, Queen of Information and Peace,

I hope that you will allow me this one chance to plead the case of my dear friend Edwin. He, himself, has been nothing but loyal to you and your crown and state. Though his love for his brother may have recently and temporarily blinded his eyes and fogged his brain, I am sure that he has never betrayed you, Your Highness. Throughout all of the events of the past weeks I have never seen any sign of Edwin breaking from your orders and has in no way spoken ill of Your Grace. In fact, he boasted of your generosity and the hand of friendship that you extended to him as his patron, care taker, and sovereign. I, madame, admittedly have questioned your motives but was promptly assured by my dear Edwin that my suspicions were unfounded. I only questioned you out of ignorance and care for a friend. I do hope that you will reconsider the judgment passed on dear Edwin. He has been through so much already and for the entire time during the past incident involving your machine, Edwin and Morcar, he only wanted to return the machine to you, its rightful owner and be reunited with his brother so that they may continue to work in your service.

I do pray that my plea has not fallen on deaf ears. I look forward to further communication with Your Majesty.

May you live and reign forever.

I would like to say to you, if I may, that I am able to support my plea with evidence in the e-mail communications between Edwin and myself. He has been nothing but loyal. I hope that you will bring my case before the Queen. I am very thankful for your time.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Long live the Queen!

Your humble servant,
Ptolemy

To which she then said:
Quote:
I will pass along the message.

I closed thusly:
Quote:
Madame,

I am forever in your debt. Thank you. I wish you the best and do feel free to call on me in the future, we [the friends of Edwin] may have gotten off on a wrong foot with you, Milady, but I do hope that you will not hold emotions or the feelings of the masses against me, just as I cannot hold your seizure of my dear Edwin against you. I look forward to future communication and again I thank you for passing my petition on to Her Majesty.

Long Live the Queen of Information and Peace!

Your friend and humble servant,
Ptolemy

I know this may seem as a betrayal to my dear friend Edwin, but I do mean what is stated in these e-mails. I agree with Delilah, there is no need for anger towards her, infact, I have found her to be very agreeable and quite polite. I look forward to further interactions with her and hope to have a spot in the audience with Her Majesty, Queen of Information. I will say, though, that I would give myself for Edwin in a heartbeat, I am more guilty of what crimes he is being charged with than he.

It'd be difficult for anyone around not to know who you are at the moment.
Your THE topic of conversation and, as I mentioned, much speculation.

Everyone is quite worked up today.

How does this evening find you?

Quote:
D: An ideal position, really.

Quote:
For some, I suppose.
Some it can't be plesant though...

Ideal for what though? Do you enjoy the attention? I don't mean this in an negative way, mind.

Alternatively having everyones attention in one place could have it's uses..

Though this is pure speculation.

Quote:
D:And it does.

I need to say adieu. Matters need attending, palms greased...etc.

my messy attempts at this...

ok.. please don't be too mad at me...

Here's my emails..on Jan 31st

From Me:
Quote:

So wow.. The grapevine sure is a buzz tonight.. I am hearing many things..

Pretty happy about selling out your Precious Queen of Information to the Korporation?
How much did they give you to distract Edwin long enough to take The Box and Morcar?
Was it worth it?

-Lurker

From Delilah:
Quote:

My...interesting train of thought.

From Me:
Quote:

Interesting...
hmm.. but no answer to the questions?

I know I am not nearly as eloquent of a speaker as Clementine or Loli... but I too like to
hear things first hand.

Is my train of thought on the right track?

-Lurker

From Delilah:
Quote:

Ah...but I don't offer information for free.

From Me:
Quote:

Naturally.. Knowledge = Power right?

Ok.. so what do you ask of me?

-Lurker

p.s. U7 That ring any bells?

From Delilah:
Quote:

I don't know what you offer. How can I counter appropriately?

From Me:
Quote:

What is it that you want? Why offer a muffin if you are in the mood for a cup of tea?

-Lurker

From Delilah:
Quote:

Touche.

I believe my ends look to be met by another party at the moment. Sorry
to disappoint.

I will be signing off shortly. Errands and all.

From Me:
Quote:

All I can offer you is where *I* think the Korp may have taken The Box and Morcar.
I could be wrong.. but it is my best guess. I am sure someone else has mentioned a code
that Morcar left us.
I am pretty sure another of us has mentioned that you don't actually Like the Korp.. and
want the Box..

an Interesting "Train" of thought.. U7 is a start.

-Lurker

From Delilah:
Quote:

Well then, U7 you say. Slow on the uptake this time...must check my
timing belt...

I will keep that in mind.

Have a lovely evening,
Delilah

What if I tell you I find your bluff a most delightful experience?

Delilah

And which bluff is that?

Me
Quote:
It could be anything you want it to be... so far, the only truth here is that you've managed to fool the passengers, and you know it.

Now, which bluff is it? Doesn't really matter, 'cause you've acomplished what you wanted. I'm sure of that.

Delilah
Quote:
You are an odd one...though oddly poetic. State your case or be done withit.

Me
Quote:
Oddly poetic, you say? Well, I do feel very connected to Diamonds...

My case? You want us to believe you've got all the cards up your sleeve. It's an obvious bluff. No definite proof, yet you have everybody on the ropes.

These are my thoughts: you either have several masks to hide behind....or you're just...noone and have nothing. Now that I've been honest...would you mind telling me, do you hold any grudge towards the deck or is this just business?

Delilah
Quote:
Strictly business.

Me
Quote:
Also, on a side note, what whould you use the box for?

Delilah
Quote:
Others have asked. Guess. It's quite obvious really.

Me
Quote:
Ahh, well. The other passengers' guesses aren't quite as polite as you would think. If you had to pick a card to be, which suit and rank would you be in?

Delilah
Quote:
I prefer none of them, except those who pay handsomely. Of course, I find love to be trite and wasteful. Far too much softness. Not good for business...unless of course you're selling sex.

Me
Quote:
Now that sounds more like what the other passengers have said about you. Don't mind them, they don't understand the true nature of business. But I assume, the korporation is in fact your opponent, isn't it? When you're selling something, everyone is...

Delilah
Quote:
Of course, and far more astute than I saw coming. I will be signing off now. Errands to run, hands to shake...

Now, admit it, she's delightful xD

Jonah has great value. As does Edwin. Both have, information, that can
be utilized well in the right hands.

I am boarding a plane now. I have business on the States' side of the pond.

Your friends, the cards have a duty now. Both have a role to play. I'm
just the one paid to execute the deal. Paid handsomely.

Have a lovely day,
Delilah
