{FORUM/RANT} Different Manners Apply to Different Forums

As I have noticed different forums on here tend to act differently than others.
Here's an example.

Example 1 ~ Cloverfield Forum - Entertaining (aren't all ARG's though???) yet so many new people to the unforum community who don't have online manners. I'm not saying ALL of them do I know a lot of them are very respectful. Some of them just don't act as they should. If you don't like the topic IGNORE it. If you flame I can almost guarantee you wouldn't say the same things you typed to someones face.

Example 2 ~ News & Rumors - Entertaining and almost know one flames each other. They just are here to enjoy an ARG.

that's my rant... (just needed to get it off my chest )

The difference in manners comes from the people inhabiting the forum itself. So, as cloverfield winds down, we may see it become more like the rest of unfiction as the random people leave. Or it could get worse as only hard-core Cloverfield fans are left...or, who knows?

This isn't the first time stuff like this has happened, and it's always interesting to watch.

I honestly hate the Cloverfield forum now. Back in July it was fun to read, and I joined in August and it was fun posting. It was pretty much like this until the beginning of January. I think everyone from IMDB decided to pack up their bags and move up here.

So, this has happened before? What will happen, will it wind down or will they never leave?

You should've seen the IRC chat during the days leading up to eon8's reveal Very Happy.

Anyways, Who can tell? If the cloverfield game is over (as it appears to me, but, again, who knows?), i suspect over the next month or so it should empty out...

Glad to see that you are sticking around, Everything's Magic, and you aren't joining in on the Cloverfield crazies!

Exactly. When it first showed up, I was intrigued but I was busy on an ARG project I was working on (which died late October) and I remember after like 3 days of not being on that part of unfiction, there was like 2 new pages of threads which made me go @.@. I read a bit of the threads and a lot of them don't know how to handle this forum and some just don't have manners (six year olds never do), but I know a few people who are now into ARG's from this and are very respectful. It's double bladed. I showed up in the aftermath of Iris, which was a disappointment btw, and got hooked.

ARG'ing is my new crack....less expensive.

Ya know, bitching and moaning and calling fellow players 6 year olds isn't really the most respectful thing either, right? It's also not very productive.

What is the point of this thread, exactly? If it's just to badmouth others on the forum, I'll be happy to lock it.

Steve, you probably play Halo.

edited to add: you know what? I'll just say it outright -- if I were a Cloverfield fan and I saw this thread, I'd be feeling really bad right now. This thread makes ME feel bad, and I never really got involved in the chaotic fiction surrounding the movie. Man.

I feel bad simply because there are new, silly players joining who can't use the Search button before making a post. There vocabulary includes "retard" "douchebag" and "fucker" and those words seem to plague every one of their sentences.

I'm just sad that it's come to this.

Cloverfield is a very mainstream property, and because it's mainstream all sorts of people are going to visit. Yes, some people will act immaturely--you'll have that anywhere. However, there are also lots of people that are playing the game and are very helpful and courteous and respectful.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Smile

I have to admit, if you ever read a post by I LOVE PONIES, I laughed at a lot of his silly-arse posts... I think he's banned or something now though.
