Need help getting started

First thing - play an ARG or two.
Get familiar with the genre and gameplay. Make friends with other players. When the opportunity comes up in a game and you want to "register" (and you feel comfortable giving out your contact information to the PM) then do so - you'll be on their list for future games.

Remember, not every website registration is for an ARG.

There is also a thread in uF for people to post contact information.

But you don't have to be the first to get the trailhead to enjoy playing an ARG.

The first and best thing is to add yourself to the list in the interaction thread. The newer the poster and depending on how many they have usually decides who gets trailheads. How active you are is a huge factor as well. There's nothing more disappointing then sending out this trailhead to realize that person went on vacation to Cuba.

To get into games that are just starting out, keep an eye on the News & Rumors section of these boards. That's where the hot-off-the-press trailheads are posted, so you should be able to get into something pretty new.

Patience is a key virtue for ARGs - don't expect to get a trailhead email straight away! Hang around a bit, play some stuff, get involved, get known.

Remember that you don't have to receive the trailhead yourself to get involved in a game.
