[48][ARG] 48 Hours in Purgatory
Can you face your inner demons?

**Note: I am not a PM or insider to this game. In an unusual twist, I fell into this game and it is now a habit I just can't shake!**

Brody Hawkins is missing in the wake of his newest film release, 48 Hours in Purgatory.
The questions remaining are: What really happened during the filming of the above mentioned docustudy? Where is Brody now? Where is the rest of his crew?

This ARG/ARE/Viral Marketing is very immersive and has included mail drops, phone calls, text messages, plenty of online interaction and at least one live meeting with a character which we're told was impressively executed. There are numerous ways to follow along. If you're interested in the film itself, the subjects of the study have stories to tell (ie: bones). Or you can study the people who MADE the film. Or you can study the connections to blurred reality (this game regularly crosses from its own reality into ours, making it interesting and often creepy even in realtime.
And if you're feeling like a spoiler, you can simply try to figure out the odd connections to other media and what the hell this is leading up to!

Current projects include: a web-wide search for Brody, contact with Jagt, his associate, and cracking a puzzle (one piece to go!) which is expected to open up a new, real-world phase of the game.

----------------------------------|

One of the purposes of this thread is to apologize on behalf of the Architects and the Trailmasters for actions of some players [Original Gamers] toward people attempting to enter the game. I have been asked to pass that on and ask all new players to feel free to visit the in-game site (below), but for those with sensitive skin to play out the game here at unfiction. The OG's have invested months into the game. In coming phases it will be easy for new players to jump in and that site is a great resource of what has lead up to this point for those who want all the gritty details. Do not feel you have to cover every bit of information to get on board, however. There are several long-time players here who can answer any questions you might have. This is also a trout free area. I assure you no one will come here to criticize you, the point is for this to be a fun and interactive experience.

Without further ado, the official sites of import [IG]:

Have fun and play safe!

Will aka nobuofanxiii

PS. Mods I am begging I am not trashed around for this. The point is to dismember from the Bones thread since this is larger as well as to start anew without being attacked by outside forces. If you are willing, please give this it's own ARG section as it has been confirmed and is no longer a rumor and there are large amounts of information to know in which the Bones thread can be a simple reference.

Relevant conversations with Brody

Hi everyone!

A conversation with Brody:

11:44am Nov 27th
Hi Brody!
Now I feel like a starry-eyed stalker sending you messages on myspace AND facebook.
Idta has told me about the street teams. VERY cool!

Brody Hawkins
2:05pm Dec 3rd
Hey, I hope you sign up and help us out! The more contact the better, it's a nice break from capturing tapes.

Heather Elise Hamilton
5:08pm Dec 4th
I'm a bit periphery to the action on your fan sites (some social drama got boring) but I'd love to still be involved in your project. Where can I sign up?

Brody Hawkins
9:58am Dec 21st
Hi Heather. Sorry for the delayed response, I've been traveling. 48hoursonthestreet.com is the official street team website.

I'll be honest, I've lost touch with them, mostly, my agent is doing the promoting, but I know they'll do great.

So what do you do? Are you an actress or a model?

Heather Elise Hamilton
2:49pm Dec 21st
HA flattery I love it!
I'm a Doctor, but not the real kind. I've got a PhD in Theater History, so I teach a lot of Shakespeare and the Greeks. I also act and direct, but mostly for the stage.
I'll go check out 48hoursonthestreet. Thanks for writing me back!!!
Heather

What part of the world do you live in?

PhD in Theater history? So you can stitch up crappy old plays? Wink

Heather Elise Hamilton
11:08am Dec 22nd
Yah, the crappy plays are the coolest! Check out Grand Guignol!! Theater history because I'm interested in knowing what the 'common' people were thinking about in the olden times, and they were mostly illiterate so couldn't write anything down. Theater used to serve the same social function as films do today: it highlighted the issues and ideas of the masses. Theater History is a 'common' or 'popular' history, as opposed to the kind of elitist history we get from history texts or those primary sources created by the educated elite. Plus I was sick of being a professional actress, sick of hanging out with airhead actors, and wanted to use my philosophy degree for SOMETHING.
I'm a native of NH but am presently living south of Minneapolis.
I wish I lived in Boston. I miss the ocean. AND I miss the forest. AND I'm sick of corn. You?

Brody Hawkins
10:39am Jan 8th
Boston. That's very close to home.

I'm not very well right now, but I hope we can speak more about this someday. I'm longing for a real conversation...

Stay.

It's always such a delight to get a message from you, Brody. Why aren't you well right now? That concerns me. I find you to be an intelligent, articulate, and daring artist, and would hate to think of you unhappy or under duress. Is it something to do with your new film?
please feel free to contact me if you think of something I can do to help.

Staying and Going:
I've contacted Connie about participating in the street team. I'm not in contact with many of your other fans and I don't participate in most of your fan web-pages, but I'm still following your work with extreme enthusiasm and admiration.

I need a conduit. Please tell them the deep is cold and dark. What's done is done and what's fun is fun.

I'm your girl. Telling them now.

Heather Elise Hamilton

Brody, I just got off a plane and heard that you've vanished. I am absurdly upset at this. I know that we don't know each other, but I have been touched by the premise and power of your art and I feel invested in your wellbeing. Is the deep metaphorical? Do you need rescue?
Heather

I thank you. I don't know what I need. Time to think, away from everyone.

I used to trust some of them. I always thought it would be better to trust no one. I hope I can trust you. I feel like I could.

If you'll let me, I will send you postcards to keep you apprised of my whereabouts.

I had a good time at the game last night. I hope Nick can play another season, though.

Thanks for being a friend to a stranger.

Shaken, not stirred,
Brody

PS. 48 Hours in Purgatory is making a lot of money. Nabsy knows his business. So they don't need to worry about me starving to death.

...I loved to play tag. I still do. It keeps me young.

Tag. You're it, Heather. They're waiting. They're searching for an answer and now you have it.

48 HIP Needs You!

Nice job on the intro to 48 Hours In Purgatory Will. As one who's been playing for a few weeks now, I can say the story is engaging, thought-provoking, and moves at a good pace. It's challenging--so much so that there remain a number of clues unsolved to date. Everyone here should find that it not only meets but also exceeds the standards of the games you've played before. And your participation and help are truly wanted and needed.

Brody, our recently wandering documentarian, apparently lost his love in a car accident on the evening he planned to give her a ring. He seems to have been suffering from a Mememto-like memory problem since then. Nevertheless, he continued working on the film as a tribute to Veronique aka Ronnie. Much of what happened during the filming of the six subjects in the Purgatorium is a mystery to us, but we do know that a death threat was made before the car crash.

The story has ties to a few Canada-based bands such as Jared Leto's 30 Seconds To Mars and Uneven Ground, and there have been allusions to Stephen King novels. Brody is a sports fan and we've learned today that he's friends with the NE Patriots' Nick Kaczur. The story is dark and deep, and I found myself quickly getting immersed in it and being eager to see how it will progress. The Mirror's conversations with Brody are a good example of what makes this so intriguing to play (GREAT WORK!!!). Brody needs all of our help. I hope you will join our journey.

I second the nice job, Will ^_^

I'm pretty much a newbie to this game. I'd followed a bit back in November, then dropped it for massive IRL stuff and just recently got back into it. It's got a great darker feel to it and all signs right now are pointing to somthing Big happening soon. The PMs are very good about staying on the ball, no sooner did I join in than I started getting game related messages on my Facebook and MySpace.

A despoiler has been released that gives a very good summery of the events so far.

Check it out!

I wish I could point you to some of the really cool videos we've seen so far, but they were removed tonight for some reason we're not sure of yet.

I'm confused, Tres. Why did they send you this one, unless (a) they didn't think anybody had seen it yet or (b) there's something different about this link? Surely they didn't write the despoiler article themselves, that'd just be... tacky, wouldn't it? Confused

Well, whatever it is, it's got me logging back in to the forum, so I guess it's all good. Smile

They've done that before, petunia.

They'll send something out to mass people that's already been found.

I'm willing to bet server glitches/lag or they have them set up to automatically send through a prog, thus they don't know if we found it yet or not.

Doesn't stop automated programs from sending the e-mails off their servers. =P

Petunia, I think they wanted us to all go to Shoutwire and create interest in the game, so they sent the same email to a few of us. I expect they need more people to make this endeavor worthwhile, and we need more people to get the clues solved.

We don't necessarily need more people to solve the clues, we were doing fine before the expansion when it was just OGs.

However, it seems to be the architects will to expand this even further.
