[SPEC][SPOILERS] Parasites

Was it just me or did anybody else see the military confiscate a dead parasite? I'm not sure if it was one, but it sure looked like one. This could lead into a sequel and answer a lot of questions as to what MGP was.

They definitely carried one by during the scene that Marlena soon explodes in.

Um... how could it lead into a sequel? Yeah, a parasite was taken. What's the sequel - it rises from the dead, bursts form its chamber and kills everyone?

No but seriously, I did see that. I think it was to let us see the monster, no real meaning behind it.

Sequel as in back story. Once it's dead, it's dead. But with it comes DNA (assuming it's anything Earth-like [which we pretty much know it is]) and thus will help explain what in the world MGP was. Perhaps from a military point of view explaining what it was and where it came from.

yea, rob was able to take one out with an axe, so i'm sure, with some precise aim an m-4 could rip one to shreds. I just think thats the logical thing the military would do in situation. They prolly wanna research why it makes people explode Shocked

The parasites are just that: a symbiotic parasite that feed off bacteria on the monster's skin. They are not miniature versions of it.

If these parasite things could puncture the monsters skin that would give them a good idea on how to fight it because the bombs and bullets weren't doing shit.

Exclamation

I never thought of that. Dammit, man! A fresh new idea on this board after a week of rehashed crap! Thank you!

No, I AM NOT being sarcastic. That IS a very good theory.

That would explain why the military confiscated it. I don't think they wanted it for decoration.

Maybe the CO wanted to mount it's ugly head on his office wall?

Oh yeah, maybe they could taste it and if it tasted liked Slusho they'd know it was eating sea bed nectar and then they'd know Tagruato was behind everything and the monster must eat sea bed nectar since the parasites taste like it too.

Good grief...

All along ive thought of them to be something like that. Kind of like an algae eater. They really look nothing at all like MGP.

They don't have the mouth for "Algae eating". They have a bitting mouth with sharp little teeth. I think they actually break the skin and feed on MGP's blood. Like fleas.

The problem with that is something can be parasitic, or symbiotic. Not both.

They're described as parasites, so we'll assume that MGP gains nothing from the little buggers. I would guess they only harm him in some way, further supporting SomethingTerrible's theory.

Or MGP and the buggers can have a Commensalistic relationship.
