Here's the details before the scan, just so that we're all on the same page

POSSIBLE LINK TO THE LOCATION OF SHARDS OR KEYS

So, you say it's Antarctica. Which would explain the ice.

He's all alone and asking for help in Bronze... I sent him a PM just in case he doesn't know we exist. Smile

The coordinates listed for where the artifact was found are in Antarctica. I thought maybe the ice stood for artifice.

I don't know if it matters, but which country holds jurisdiction over that part of Antarctica? Or is it in a place where no country has a base camp?

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and looking at the drawing again, I think that both of the things swimming around in the fountain are fish.

from http://www.patagonia-argentina.com/i/tierradelfuego/antartida/antartida_2006.htm

Quote:
One of the main differences is that Antarctica is a continent, whereas the Arctic is not. The distinction is an ice cap, and an ice layer that covers a rock plinth or base, a subglacial set of rivers and lakes, earth, in brief, submerged under the ice.

I remember that in the files about Wendy's family, it described her grandfather as "mysterious" and their relationship as "The tip of the iceberg".

also, from wikipedia:

Quote:
The Antarctic Treaty was signed in 1959 by twelve countries; to date, forty-five countries have signed the treaty. The treaty prohibits military activities and mineral mining, supports scientific research, and protects the continent's ecozone. Ongoing experiments are conducted by more than 4,000 scientists of many nationalities and with different research interests

no one owns Antarctica!

You know, the references you've given on Harry I think are important. I read the instructions again on the task we're given, and it says to "Try following up leads on 'Harry Skinery'."

As for no one owning Antarctica, that's true, but certain countries have made "claims" on certain areas. Their claims are recognized by some countries, and not at all by others. What I was trying to figure out was if the coordinates happened to fall in one country's claim or not. Here's the wikipedia on that bit:

Quote:
Antarctica has no government and belongs to no country. Various countries claim areas of it, but while some have mutually recognized each other's claims, no other countries recognize such claims. The area between 90° W and 150° W is the only part of Antarctica not claimed by any country as of yet.

Minor edit: I spelled "Skinery" incorrectly.

MAJOR EDIT: When you put in "http://www.wendyspage.name/harryskinery.html" it takes you to the doll head page. I'm wondering if "I know what happens before it even happens" has any bearing on this puzzle?

I just noticed something on the main page for the game that should help you with this. There's an "ARCHIVES" link on the home page when you have logged in. There, you can replay any video or whatever that you've already viewed.

The game PMs for this are VERY savvy, I tell ya.

Harry Skinery

Just found this by doing a google search for "Harry Skinery." It seems like it has to be relevant somehow, since it mentions Sri Lanka, where Wendy's page says that her grandfather traveled. It is also a comment about satellites, and those appear on the drawing Harry made.

Quote:
Do all satellites contain hydrazine fuel? Does the US military ultimately have the right to shoot down any satellite - in theory?

- Harry Skinery, Sri Lanka

Here's the web page on which it appears:

Just been bending my brain around task 4 and wondered why there was a spinning scale9 grid on the scanner page. So I had an idea, and it may be crazy but what the hell.

If you scale up the scale9 grid and overlay it onto the symbols, it fits quite neatly, and hey look if you rotate it... It becomes a kind of crayzeee Zodiac Sudoku

I'm extremely tired, but there ya go, there's some home work for everyone, see you in the morning!

Any chance you can give a spoiler of what the voicemail says, for those of us who can't afford the call clear to London?

also love the hidden text at end of task 2

If you do happen to be a fictional character, then we would like to ask you to cease to exist here and continue to propagate your character in your original published content. Many thanks again, TSR administration.

The voicemail says :

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After laying low for several decades the sky remains has become active again

Since many of our original agents are now aged and dying we need new recruits

Do you have what it takes to become a member of the sky remains

We think you have potential you must live up to it

You might be on to something here...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Replacing the letters on the left with their respective numeric values, 1-9, it creates a sudoku grid with a unique solution:

5 6 9 4 2 7 1 3 8
1 7 4 5 3 8 2 6 9
2 8 3 6 9 1 7 4 5
4 2 8 9 7 3 6 5 1
9 3 5 1 4 6 8 7 2
6 1 7 8 5 2 3 9 4
8 9 6 7 1 5 4 2 3
7 4 2 3 8 9 5 1 6
3 5 1 2 6 4 9 8 7

That makes the four cells 3, 1 (hilighted), 7 and 1.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

EDIT: changed to lowercase

Nicely done. I'd wondered what the crosshatch on that side was for.

*EDIT*
It's case sensitive: type it in lowercase
