I just checked out the mscape website, and it looks like they've got a version of the mscape player software that can be installed directly to a Windows Mobile GPS device even if you don't have a computer which runs Windows (such as a Mac or Linux OS computer). You simply have to have a card reader that has a slot which fits the card on your GPS.

I don't have a GPS, but figured I'd pass along the good info for those of you that do, or can fork out the bucks to get one. I don't know what this means in terms of gameplay--I mean, I'm not sure if the information from the PMs is going to be loaded in such a fashion that it, too, can be loaded through a card reader, but I'm hoping they'll figure something out.

The software can be found here.

Windows Mobile on pc

Download it and get this arg started, just cart you laptop around insted.

It won't work on my computer...any tips?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious (apologies if so), but I assume that your computer would have to have something like Cricket so that you could get information from the satellite feed that is part of what a GPS does. Cricket is a service that kind of gives you access to wifi from most anywhere--kind of like a cell phone works. (At least that is my understanding--if anyone knows differently, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

I'm not a guru in the area of GPS stuff, though, so don't take my thoughts as gospel, if you know that I mean.

According to the FAQ an MScape device is not necessary.

When I first started learning about ARGs I read through the entire MeiGeist game. That was at the very tail end. I was bummed that i didn't get to start sooner; it looked awesome. I'm excited to take part in this, although I don't have mscape.

I'm a Virgo, by the way. Razz

I loved MeiGeist....I still have the Erwin is LOST! Poster on my wall. I've had so many people ask whether someone actually lost their cat. Laughing

I'm a Piceses. Am very fish-like. Very Happy

Heh, I still have all the web links and emails saved. I can't bring myself to delete them.

Ditto! I have a folder in my Inbox called 'MeiGeist,' and when I'm feeling nostalgic I go back and read Eva's mails to me. Smile

I'm such a nerd. XD

Evening All

Good to see we're getting the band back together Smile

I just found The Sky Remains emails in my junk folder, phew, nearly missed the start. Looking forward to this one, MeiGeist was a blast.

There's a link on the main page that leads to

http://www.theskyremains.com/bootup.html

Leads to an animation of something powering up and this text in black on black.

I'm so glad I remembered to have unfiction notify me when a reply is posted on this topic--I can't believe I almost forgot that tomorrow is (or at least might be) the Big Day. Thanks to all of you who posted today--I'm looking forward to being in on the very beginning of Hazel's new project!

Let's see...Where'd I put my pregame checklist?

  • Purchase supply of diet Coke for any late-night clue-finding sessions
  • Ditto on snacks
  • Write chat channel on post-it note to be placed on computer monitor
  • Pick up glasses with new prescription specifically for computer work
  • Reread the ARG ten commandments and tutorial
  • Check links on unforum codebreaking tools sidebar
  • Move Sky Remains bookmarks to beginning of Google toolbar
  • Butter up the other players Send greetings to the other players
  • Look back at some of the Meigeist puzzles to refresh memory on the twisted warped clever ways in which Hazel and company think

    Hmm...(drumming fingers)...did I forget anything?

There's nice new flashy stuff on the main page too, but no new links or anything. (It's after midnight in the UK. Twisted Evil )

They are right at the end of the ARG Player Tutorial which can be found here.
