Just in case anyone was going to try it, I reversed the binary code and it is still gibberish.

Well, I'm not a big math wiz, so I dunno if this is usual with binary, but if I encode the binary from the first .OPH, it comes out a different pattern:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
00110000 00110001

Repeated over, and over and over and over again. And it decodes to the old binary (obviously).

I dunno, thought I should post it.

So it's the binary for 01 over and over? If you translate the binary to text and translate the result to text it's like a halflife

Well...never mind, I'm pretty sure it's irrelevant...

If I didn't have homework to finished, I'd work on that.

Forgive me, but I'm just a little confused as to why we're being so cagey with Jason. I'm not able to be on the chat yet, so I feel like I've missed an important conversation. Isn't Jason the PM of the LMF portion of this big PO thing? Is there a history of ARGs that went wrong that a newbie like me could read about, so that I may understand the reticence here?

Also, other than the ease and good sense of having one point of contact, is there a reason why Leyton is the only one "allowed" to respond to Jason now?

I'm not trying to create conflict or anything, I'm just feeling like I missed a memo or something. Carry on. Smile

It's an IG sense of paranoia about Jason... Since we've discovered that P.O is tied to this, I guess some players are trying to be sure Jason really is just an innocent friend in all this and not someone who may be out to oppose R&M/P.O... You know? It's not OOG.

As far as me being the only one "allowed" to speak to Jason, I'm not and never have been or said anything to that effect, just as you said it was more or less the ease and having one point of contact... I guess it's just because I'm the one person he's had main email contact w/. Anyone could have responded on the 'comments' whenever they felt to

I suppose it's the same way the P.O veterens labled "Punchline" as their point of contact w/ Dani, or whatever it was. - But I never once said I was the only one allowed.

In fact Jason's already made reference to this case in point, in his latest blog entry.

Good Work!

I'm still not having much luck locating the source of the faxes, I'm going to keep trying though!

Excellent news about finding a USB stick in the Dallas Public Library! (Who found it by the way? All of my communication is coming from Leyton at the moment, which is slightly odd. Does anyone else exist?)

I guess it was Martin's. Leyton says all the files are encrypted, which seems really odd. Why would he encrypt all of the files on his USB stick? I guess we need to decrypt them pretty speedy. Anything important enough to encrypt, could be a potential lead to the couple's whereabouts.

Keep me posted about what was on the USB stick. I'm confident that we can locate my friends together!

And I've responded, as Elite was going to but had to leave...

It was a good friend and contact by the name of Zaranai who went to Dallas to pick up the USB Key; and yes believe me J, there's plenty of people out there helping… I guess they just thought one point of contact to pass the info to you would have been best?

They'll make themselves known eventually believe me bro Smile

No, that was totally different. We were told that R170 (Punchline) would be contacted by Dani and would then disseminate information to us as the Phase 13 Administrator. We didn't deem that, nor do I suspect would we have necessarily wanted that. Others have emailed Dani in the meantime I believe, but have not received any response.

As for Jason, he brought these people to our attention. It's quite possible that the story won't advance much if we don't share with him at this early stage. And as for anyone else who wants to contact him, feel free as I'd say he's pretty much asking for others to contact him, if for no other reason than to show interest in playing along. The whole 'encrypted' file thing should probably be explained away before passing any files along though. Any lame excuse would do - PC/Mac incompatibility if nothing else.

Pictishwitch, I will try and answer your questions the best I can and I haven't been on chat either.

1. Jason is a character in Project Ophiuchus. I too see no reason to be cagey with Jason and think he should be filled in on what PO info we have.

2. Leyton is not the only one allowed to respond to Jason. If you have something you want to talk to him about by all means send him an email or contact him on his website.

3. All you have to remember is, to us this is a game and on this forum is where we talk about it as a game. To the characters and in their world this is not a game and this forum doesn't exist. So when talking to them you are another character in their would just from a different prospective. So put yourself into the game and communicate all you want with Jason.

Yeah I've given him the whole working on decrypting the files thing... But that was my other point in chat. - The more people he knows at the moment working on it, the less chance we have of saying we were ALL having problems figuring it out... You know?

-And... Sorry? I guess by the fact no-one said so... No-one was having a problem me being the only person who was seeming to pass info back and forth w/ Jason via email.

Again, didn't mean to come across selfish and greedy.... Confused

I think I'm going to refrain from contacting him again for a bit; let someone else 'in on the action' so to speak..

Oh and Lunsford I replied to your PM Smile

There is an In-Game Caginess going on w/ J at the moment. Read back a few pages here or the P.O thread, can't remember which.

Guys honestly, I don't mind if Leyton talks to Jason... I mean it's better than having 30 responses on the same thing.. Now if it was something that you personally wanted to say, then go for it.. I just think that everyone thought it was Leyton that said he was the only one who could speak to jason.. but it wasn't .. it was just Leyton was the only one contacting him... Dunno

Agreed. Leyton was just taking initiative and I'd guess excited to get this thing rolling. I'm not the greatest at interaction, so often I depend on others to handle that side of the game.

One other thing to remember, not everyone here sees what gets discussed in IRC, and not everyone playing the game necessarily even visits this forum.

Thanks guys... I was kind of feeling like I was annoying people by being that interactive.

You're right the excitement has gotten to me because I was there for the top of LMF and that's never happened to me before in an ARG where I've been in contact w/ the PM in that way before, sorry.

I for one feel more people should get involved... Hey you never know, the PM may need that to "stir things up" a little, or something Wink

Has anyone else noticed, that on the USB stick, the only picture with the title that does refer to the background, is the only one where the camera isn't focused on the background?
