Didn't MeiGeist ask folks to post flyers about a missing cat?
The hard part about posting for missing people, is that folks might (probably) think this is real and the next thing you know, the newspapers and telly pick it up and then someone is in a world of hurt for creating a hoax.

Martin is supposed to be in America. Maybe us yanks will have some fun too.

Edit-
It's weird that Jason can build a website yet chooses to make the missing poster by hand. Is there something more to that?

I guess my question has been answered.
From the comments on the website.

I think he's watching. After I pointed out no descriptions earlier:

Martin, works in Geneva some of the time, something to do with Physics. I'd say he's around 5′10, with long dark hair. Rebecca's around 5′7, slim and with long blonde hair. She's training to be a GP, and her surgery is where I went today… more on that later though.

My friend... ARG means "Alternative Reality Game" or "Alternate Reality Game" it is real in that particular reality; but in our own (outside of playing) it is not... I'm sure someone else as helpful as I could point you in the directions of a Wiki or thread which will help explain more. Otherwise I'll try n dig them up Smile

u missunderstood me... i know what ARG is, i'm new here but not that new... i was talking about this particular site locatemyfriends.co.uk , if it was real like ARG real... or not...

or if it's really something missing...

I sent an email yesterday asking why Martin would come to America and where he was heading. It is a big place after all.

Here is the picture I sent today.

I put the poster up at my local police station.

I trust I don't have to say this, but I highly recommend the following steps:

1) Put the poster up
2) Take a picture
3) Take the poster down

We do not need an FBI manhunt over this, please.

Yeah i was just about to suggest the same thing...Putting it up at the cop shop might make people actually try and find these people and file reports etc.

If I just type the word DUH I think I pretty much make my point. But, if it wasn't said...
BTW the FBI doesn't look at the posters family and friends put on bulletinboards. They have their own systems.

Also, I am actually trying to find these people. Wink

Just for future reference, PM's almost always read these threads. So don't be susprised if changes are made after something is said here.

Who was this in reference to?

Edit: Oh and btw a full description of the latest news post by Jason in reference to Silverback's post about him watching.

Guys, I have updates! But they'll come later. I haven't got time right now…

About the posters… I've put so many up around here, and haven't had a single response. I'm starting to think they're not working. From another perspective, I've been thinking that if they've been kidnapped, then nobody's likely to have seen them recently anyway. I guess we're going underground with this one, hopefully you'll help me work out where they are!

By the way…some descriptions…

Oh no one at all, just a general warning about the missing person ads...I was just pointing out that I know some pretty dumb people whod think this was all real so you might have those kind lurking about your town

I think the PM has taken into consideration that someone might think it's real. Actually, that's probably what he/she wants. And if anyone who looks at the poster even cares enough to check out the site (you might be surprised at how many people would even take the time or even care) they would find this in the about section:
Quote:
This blog has been setup to collate any evidence there may be as to the location of my friends, Martin and Rebecca McDowell. The couple were last seen on 7th February. The Police say they might have been kidnapped, I think there's something suspiscious going on, and hopefully you can help me work it out.

Please Note: This is part of an Alternate Reality Game, and all events and persons depicted are works of fiction.

enough said on that matter. However, it is illegal to put anything on mailboxes, telephone/electric poles, etc. in the US and that includes such things as yard sale signs, election signs, so on and so forth. It's not a hanging offense, it's just that people wouldn't go back and clean up the posters after they were no longer needed. So a law was passed mainly to keep the eye pollution in check. But there are many other places you can put them (some places you should get permission first of course) like your Library, community market, etc.. Use your imagination. You can put it on a tree facing the highway as long as the tree is on your own property or you have the permission of the property owner. So, even with the minor restrictions, there are plenty of places they could be placed. Every bulletin board is just begging for one. But if your unsure ask for permission. Speaking of bulletin boards, everyone with a myspace, facebook or any other community site should send out a bulletin with the smaller image. And if it makes you feel better just add the ARG/fiction statement like the one above.
