Eh, so he has 2 emails now. Maybe it'll prod him into responding faster. ;D I don't have work to keep me ocupied atm, so it's either this or Survival Guide to the Apocalypse. Neither one's exactly exciting right now since I'm getting pwned on SG. XD

Zii, because of that post I just spent 2 hours playing that Survival game that I had never heard of before. I am not sure if I should thank you or curse you...

Mwahahahaha. It's really a very fun and involving game if you can find a good alliance. In the forum section, there's a post by a guy named derp looking for people for his alliance - try to get in it if you can. He wants new players and while he can be a little overbearing/OCD, he knows his shit and is a great person to learn from. I'm on there under the same name as here if you ever want to look me up to curse me there. ;D

And, in trail news, still no emails here. Sad The LHC OOG issue I'm really not interested in getting involved with. I've read about both sides, and I'm fairly neutral. Black holes are a scary concept, but the CERN people have everything figured out as not having any risk... The only thing I don't really understand is why the scientists feel they MUST learn about this, but the zealous types tend to be a little unhinged, imo. *shrugs* Eh. I'm more concerned about the game than momentary black holes the size of mosquitos. XD

If anyone wants to see a really awful film about miniature black holes falling through the Earth, I reccommend The Void, starring Amanda Tapping. Laughing

Still no emails, but in other news, the UK did have an Earthquake this morning, and I didn't miss it this time. Huzzah! Very Happy

Well I'm fine, just to let you know.

This is from The Independent newspaper, online.

Quote:
Its epicentre was near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, but the effects of the quake were felt throughout the country.

As far away as Wales, Scotland and London, there were reports of residents being woken from their sleep by the tremor.

Emergency services across England received a high level of calls following the incident, many from people who were frightened when they were woken up to find their home shaking.

Apparently one person was injured but that was it... Wow, here's me thinking we in the UK couldn't get earthquakes due to not being by laylines or w/e... And this says:

Quote:
The BGS said it records around 200 earthquakes in the UK each year - an eighth of which can be felt by residents.

Hehehe... That it says people were mainly calling because "omg, my house is moving" is very reassuring, oddly enough. XD

There are a fair few intraplate faults in the UK that cause earthquakes all the time. If we had a huge earthquake in the UK, everyone would feel it, due to the small size of the country!

I actually thought it was the Church Stretton fault slipping again (as it did in 2002). But apparently not!

Laughing I can't help it. I'm a geologist by training, I find these things exciting! Smile

P.O/LMF Has gone obscenely quiet over the past few days... Infact we've had nothing since, possibly what Monday? From either of the parties (Jason, P.O OR 1in50M)

I've just sent Jason an email.

Quote:
J,

Neither myself or anyone else in the group has heard from you in a little while... We're just wondering if everything is okay??

Please get back to me as soon as you are able to,

-L

decode files

Quote:
Looks like we've made great progress so far. I checked out the 1in50million website, and it seems they're opposed to the goings on at CERN. It's clear that we don't have the technological power to decrypt those files on the USB sticks, so I thought that if anyone can help us decode them, it's going to be the people we think kidnapped Martin and Rebecca.

It looks to me like Martin and Rebecca were kidnapped for the information that's on those USB sticks. Perhaps Project Ophiuchus is a secret CERN project that Rebecca's got caught up in too? One thing's for sure, and that is that we need their help whether we like it or not. I think we should use them to do all of the decryption work, and use our skills to work out what the information on them means, before they do. I know it's risky, but it's our only choice.

I've been in touch with Gerry from 1in50million. He says they've just installed a new intranet system, and the hardware that it uses is very powerful. We should be able to decrypt all of the files in a matter of days. I told him why we needed them decrypting, about Martin and Rebecca. He didn't seem to shocked, but was willing to help us as much as he can. I'm going to keepmy eye on these people very closely. You should too.

So all we need now is the files that were on the sticks, and they can start to decode them.

That's the newest update from Jason http://locatemyfriends.co.uk/

So, did anyone send the files to 1in50million?

You beat me to it coffeebean was just editing my post to include that...

But, no... And right now I'm just wondering a few things.

Why did Jason do all that himself and they didn't respond to our emails or whatever??? That bit's confused me majorly because isn't this s'posed to be *our* game? 0_o

I'm also a bit dubious about giving them 'access' to these files to let them decrypt them esp' now seeing as they know why we're doing it. - I thought the whole infiltation thing would be the best route.

Well if Jason is saying we should send the files to 1in50 maybe we should. I am not against it. But on the otherhand I am not planning to be the one to do it in case it is the wrong move. I am new to this, do PMs give bad advice and clues or should we take it at face value that we need to send the files to move the game?

No I'm just thinking 'in character' wise Jason is evidently being duped. I think he gave 1I50M too much information...

I'm just at a loss for explaining why he didn't let us run game-plan on R13's idea, instead of him doing it all. But then again he is the boss Smile

Wait, is it just me or is he suggesting that we give the files to both PO and 50Mil to do the decryption? That last post on LMF almost reads like two separate ideas. Maybe Jason is as confused about the two as we have been at times.

Yeah, ambiguous pronouns. But I think he's saying that we should send the files to 1in50. Even though "we" think they are M&Rs kidnappers. He implies that the stuff we get back from 1in50 will be obscure enough that the group could make sense of it before 1in50. Or that's my read...
