okay so based on the post from Jas0n, it seems there is no encoding or java-based decrypting we need, so that means the answer must be right infront of us, and we arent getting it. Im gonna goto #unfiction to try and pick brains there, would it be advantageous to make a #aporia? cause i could on the same server #unfiction is on
*EDIT* there seems to be a #aporia already so im going to register a #aporiaagathon

are we talking about the meaning of Isobella's first message, Diego's hidden response, or both?

Summary of What We Know
-Diego has hidden a message/response on the page. Since Isobella mentioned he likes working with drawings, it's probably associated with one of the images
-Diego said Isobella's message is somehow hidden in the poem.

Possibilities
- The poem's metre is the clue: the number of syllables on each line are a bit odd (7474955697) -- 10 numbers, just enough to be a phone number (in this case, located in the San Fernando Valley). However, I'm extremely doubtful about random callings without an additional clue pointing to it.

I also tried to see if those letters on a telephone keypad spell out anything, but it didn't seem to work out very well. I'm kind of leaning towards this interpretation just because the image is of Lost, and that show is OBSESSED with numbers.

- Some sort of modular letter/word thing: the preface mentions "4am", so I tried every fourth word and every fourth letter, but that ended up looking fairly ugly for both.

- Equation: Using the +/-/= signs, the first paragraph would look like 7=47-49-5. This equation would coincidentally be true if we're dealing in absolute values

- Word puzzle: The actual lines could equate either words or letters to spell out a phrase

- INSIDE THE TREEHOUSE: Only those words/letters that are located within a predefined area of the image are pertinent (thus "inside the treehouse"

PARTIAL SOLVE (I'm an idiot with a short attention span)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
She mentions 4am...run a 4mod4 (every fourth word of the poem) on the text to get

"i found letters someone is watching go into spanish secret"

So the reason it looked weird is I only paid attention to 1mod4-3mod4. Oh, and it's been a while since I did this particular brand of arithmetic, so sorry if the description is off.

Enter the two "others" codes as username and pass to get in (chanuquekids/cheezburgernotyours).

Also, I'm guessing that Chanuque is Diego and Isobella's last name, making them the "Chanuque kids".

"Chanuque" was a misspelling of Chaneque, according to Diego's comment on the site.

Which is why it meant nothing to us before -- Chaneque are Mexican spirits. (From the description on wikipedia, I'd assume they're kinda like the Kodama of Japanese folklore, except not quite so nice and cute.

I think we're probably at a dead end for now. Maybe Diego or Isobella will respond in the secret treehouse, but beyond that I think it's back to waiting for more updates.

Yeah, the Chris Hansen thing was me. Couldn't help it after all the talk about "online predators". (Accidentally linked to the wrong YouTube video though...I meant to link to this one)

As for why the guy is familiar, meta-information behind spoiler.

good solve guys, I also posted in the treehouse... although I wonder how Diego and Isobella are going to take it, us breaking in to their supposedly 'secret' treehouse and all

and i thnk the letters give us a bit:
-a new symbol,
-The Dragon Council,
-the fact that Diego's special school is protected by the Dragon Council, if not run by it.
-Their Dad was captured, and was subject to atrocities, but now escaped and helping his liberators
-They all have something special about them... that the world needs to know, according to their father

I'm getting a whole Xavier Academy vibe from all thats mentioned about Diego's school...

In retrospect we prolly should have left it alone to see what else they say... but that comment board was just so damn inviting!
