Can't say for certain, but it's looking good.

Got an email back from Mr. Surrey (mikeySPLATsurryinvestigations.com) -- I asked about his investigative methods, and whether I could get in touch with Novak to hear about his side of things (also asked a little about his health and suggested he go to a hospital, as things that cause loss of memory are generally of the bad)

Thank you for your interest in the profession. I'm sorry to make such a brief response at this time, but as you noticed, I'm a little under the weather. As soon as this clears up, I'll contact you again with answers to your questions. I appreciate your reading my blog, hope I haven't gotten too personal on some of those posts.

As for Novak, I'll have to contact him first and ask if he will allow me to respond to your questions. Our relationship works on the basis of a high degree of confidentiality, and Novak is a little shy of strangers. I don't feel comfortable discussing him without his knowledge, but perhaps he would be interested in contacting you himself, if you'll allow me to pass on your contact info. I hope you understand.

Surf Safe,
Mikey Surry

I got a response too, I made some ambiguous comments about knowing where his wallet was.

Quote:
Hello, Azure -

I realized my wallet was missing when I tried to pay for my purchases at the pharmacy. Please tell me how you happened to find my wallet. I am cancelling my credit cards right now but would be happy to have the wallet returned if you are willing to do so. Let me know how to contact you. I would prefer not to give you any personal information until I know where and how you found my wallet. I'm sure you understand. Thanks.

Surf Safe,
Mikey Surry

I'm trying to ring more info out of him, so in the interest of doing so, I suggest we don't tell him exactly who has his wallet just yet.

Got poked to update the thread and subheading titles and updated them to reflect that this thing is underway. Keep up the good work folks - a lot of good interaction and discovery so far.

I'm very sure it's not underway, this is still pregame. Unless Jas0n and co. have switched things up, they've always stated they will launch with a mailing.

Guess I could ask him flat out in IRC if it's launched, I'll have to do that. Razz

O yea! I will admit I've been half-assing the other games I've tried to play so far this summer, mostly because of some traveling. But now I'm home and ready to go for good. I could be wrong, but I think this may be the end of the pregame, and sort of a warning to start being alert of what we get in the mail soon...

Hi there, I hear you are under the weather. I hope you feel better soon, but, in the mean time, make sure to take care of yourself. My friends and I have been wondering if you may get Novak in touch with us. I do not mind if you forward my information over to him, as I hear confidentiality is key for you two.

Thanks for your time,
Monty

Thank you, Monty.

I will pass your information on to Novak, although I cannot say for sure when he might contact you.

looks like they are just delaying us before this thing really kicks off!

The two girls you were following picked up your wallet, I know who
they are and can point you in their direction very easily, but first I
need more information from you, I know one of the girl's name was
Sarah, the one you thought was on myspace. Can you point me in the
direction of the myspace you thought belonged to her? I know,
internet safety, but if her profile is public it can't hurt anyway
right? If I am a predator (which I am not, I assure you, far from it,
I have children of my own) then there are easier pickings anyways? I
have my own reasons for wanting to know, it has to do with what they
did to you, I may have some answers about that too. I know, the girl
she was with, she's the one who has your wallet. Lastly I would like
more information about what they did to you, that video would be very
helpful. Give me this and I will tell you who she is and point you in
their direction.

Mikey wrote:
Hello again, Azure

Yes, the girl's name was indeed Sarah. How did you know this? Are you friends with her? I cannot give you the myspace address due to client confidentiality. The parents would be extremely displeased if I were to start pointing out a child's profile to anyone who emails me. Although I'm sure you mean no harm, I will not answer any questions about that case whatsoever. If you know the girl who has my wallet, she has my address, as it is on my driver's license. She can mail the wallet back to me if she chooses. As for what they did to me... I would like to know that, too.

Fine. Maybe if I share some info with you, you will be more trusting.
I am on your side in this, you are into something far more dangerous
than you know. Please, I'm trusting you here.

I need you to trust me too, this is no time for client confidentiality.

Azure,

I appreciate you sharing the information, and it's not that I distrust you. The video disturbs me greatly, and I feel that there is more here than I'm seeing. However, if you would please just ask your friend to mail back my wallet, I'm going to let it go at that and not press charges.

Surf Safe,
Mikey Surry

I too think they're just putting us off til the launch, maybe a way of drumming up some pre-launch excitement now that a lot of it died off?

Just noticed something I should have caught earlier -- Surry Investigations has a "MyBlogLog" section that shows people who have visited the page previously. It shows the last two people to visit the site if you're registered with the service, done through Yahoo.

At the time I'm posting this, the two listed are myself and "Jeffrey H" who very well might be one of "us". However, this is a dynamic section of the page that might contain info in the future. Also a ridiculously creepy-yet-cool service.

The Surry Investigations MyBlogLog account: here

Other detail I missed: Mikey talks about his work with the Bibb City Police in the Child Predation section: this is apparently in Georgia, giving us a sense of where he was when he was an officer (if not now).

I dunno, looks like a launch to me. ARG

Finally finished reading Mikey's blog. "Surf Safe!" Hee... But why are we so interested in Novak, again? I'm more curious about the "tragic outcome" case Mikey refers to in his video. Probably just backstory, but I'm still curious.

I can't seem to sign in to Yahoo right now for the MyBlogLog thing, but it says Jeffrey H., 34, is from Fort Smith, Arkansas. Yo Jeff, if you're one of us, speak up or prepare to become the object of some scrutiny. Twisted Evil

Mikey's latest blog entry
Mistaken identity? So Sarah & Isobella weren't the girls he was looking for? What bad luck. Though it would nicely do away with the question of who hired him.
Also wonder why Mikey specified Vardo wagons instead of just saying "gypsy wagons". I had to look it up:
Vardo
So does that mean I'm just ig'nant, or is there something in Mikey's background that would explain his knowing what a Vardo is?

I'm not sure I like the idea of holding Mikey's wallet over his head to try to get more info about the girls out of him, and not just because it doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do to a seemingly decent guy: it also doesn't seem to be working. And, if it's a case of mistaken identity, then the intended girl's MySpace page wouldn't do us any good anyway. Except to maybe pinpoint the town, which may not even be needed.

At first I saw this going in a different direction, i.e. I thought of letting the two parties know about each other (but not in a Diego-freakout kinda way, though he does that very well Smile), but just to let Isobella know that Mikey is far from being some pedophile out to get her. I think the best thing for Isobella would be to send Mikey his wallet back, because of this:

To me, that's a very nice, tactfully worded warning not to push it. The last these kids need is cops sniffing around!

Besides, it sounds like something might've, y'know, happened to Mikey as a result of the altercation. If it continues, I suspect he'll be wanting to talk to them anyway.
