The page address for the picture at Parvulus Patroni is:

http://bp3.blogger.com/_pz0Axvmdd0c/SJKG3MfTk2I/AAAAAAAAAA0/36tTF4brj28/s1600-h/0001.jpg

Why is the picture named 0001.jpg?

I dont know if it means anything or if anyone else has noticed but there are 9999 pictures named 0001.jpg to 9999.jpg.

It might be a good idea to check some of these for other messages, I would be willing to do this if someone could explain how.

On the other hand they may have been created to leave messages in.

Any thoughts?

I get that picture no matter what I put as the filename... even dgjk.jpg Maybe it's just a rerouting type thing?

Sounds like it. Maybe you should ask him if he's comfortable letting you or Dionysus translate his messages for him? It does sound like he's asking for encryption help.

Ok, i just sent him an email with that idea, it'd be cool becuz then at least we'd have both sides of the conversation... um.. I mean... not in a creepy spying way or anything...

Should we also steg the encrypted message in an image like Amun did?

Here's the answer (well, kinda)

Quote:

Thanks - I'm more than willing to help him. Would you mind encoding a message to let him know that I will help? Then do you have any suggestions for how I can get the message to them? They know how to reach me, but I don't know how to reach them. I guess I'm supposed to be creative about it, but it's not like I can just post a coded message right in my blog, huh?

Surf Safe,
Mikey Surry

couldn't he post a coded message right in his blog? encrypted in a picture like vapor suggested, just slap a pic to the end of a normal harmless looking post. The only problem I can i find is how do we make sure Amun knows the message is in the pic? My two ideas would be either to encode it into the same pic Amun used and hope it doesn't look too out of place, or to encode it in an entirely new pic, and throw a shoutout to that fictional spycam company underneath it somehow... we just need to get Amun's attention this one time, to let him know messages will be sent through pics on the blog, and then I think he'll know to check there from now on. What ideas do you guys have/like?

Well, here is a picture of a statue of Amun. I've never stegged an image so I don't know if it meets the requirements. I bet that would pretty much grab his attention. And I guess at the end of Mikey's blog right under the last one would be as good as any place as any to post it since we have no other way of getting it to him and Amun did open up the line of communications there.

Have him put 1208473659 under the picture, disguised in some way (like Amun did with the IP address).

...I can't really think of anything except a phone number. I was going to say break it up into pieces and assign events to the number of days. The most obvious is days sober, but he already said May 1, 2003 was his last drink, and that doesnt work out with what we have available (~1950 days).

[EDIT] Hell, name the picture 1208473659.jpg

Don't forget we also need to choose a passphrase when we steg the message and figure out a way of getting this passphrase to Amun.

Sorry for the double post but I was just brainstorming a bit and thought of a way that Mikey could get the message out there in a very creative way. The Houston Museum of Natural Science hosts an Egyptian display in its lower levels http://www.hmns.org/exhibits/permanent_exhibits/egypt.asp?r=1
Maybe Mikey could blog about a trip to the museum and somehow work in our stegged image of the Amun statue and the passphrase. Nice and neat and would not be too blatant. What do you guys think?

Actually... pretty great.

Have him work in the phrase "can you say" whatever. Have whatever be the password.

So for instance:

...
There was an actual mummy there. Can you say creepy? I would rather not end up under glass for people to gawk at.
...

Or just bold letters, have the first letter of each line spell out the passphrase, etc.

So he can't get in touch with Sara, but can't do much snooping due to house arrest. Seems like an invitation for us to provide some assistance. Very Happy

I think we should see if Mikey is willing to help. Since this is connected to his original investigation and now that he knows about all the weirdness going on, maybe he'll be willing to snoop around and/or give us some useful information.

That sounds like a good idea. I Googled Sara (and Sarah) Wylie last night and came up with a FaceBook profile for each of them but they look OOG.

FWIW, Isobella spelled Sarah with an H in one of her YouTube descriptions. But yeah, the Sarah Wylie on Facebook doesn't look particularly "little", so that's probably not our girl.

So! Yay for new video! And we now have the names of Sarah's parents, Inez & Jack, and the fact that Diego calls them Tia & Tio. Of course I can't find anything on either of them, but... are there other ways of spelling Wylie maybe?

EDIT: Duh, Wyle... other than that?

EDIT 2: Re: Diego's school buds: Could lokipelli be a riff on Kokopelli (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokopelli)?
Still no clue what ActaCecilia could mean though.

SON OF EDIT 1: Oh yeah, Wiley. Tried that and... how cool would it be if this is where she went to school? http://theschoolsguide.com/vancouver-island/shawnigan-lake-school/
Alas, Wikipedia says Sarah Wiley is a Deputy Headmaster there, so I'm thinking OOG. Bang Head
