Buttermilk Is Alive Winter X Games I've been waiting to see if anyone else had noticed this (since I haven't been able to tell if it's a game or just background fun), but with the release of another update giving out another website, it's probably time that someone else take a look at it and give out an opinion.
During my long hours of watching college football bowl games, I kept noticing weird TV ads. There was a blinking alert with a voice over stating that despite rumors online, the Winter X Games would still be taking place. The ad also linked to a website: http://www.winterxrumoralert.com/
The Winter X Rumor site has some tantalizing information. A earth moving machine went missing. An X Games competitor would not be attending. A video clip of someone almost being eaten by the mountain. The most interesting bit is that it links to another website ( http://www.buttermilkisalive.com/ ) run by a geology professor who is convinced that the Buttermilk mountain is undergoing extreme seismological events and is unsafe.
Buttermilk Is Alive has a bunch of background information detailing how Dr. Jim Vaile is upset that people aren't taking him more seriously. The site has also been 'newly redesigned' so that only some of his older entries are now on the site. He has a bunch of links, most to what I take as real world websites, although at least one link is to a nonexistent website . There's also some commented out 'entries' that you can see in the source that look to be pre-written blurbs that are ready to be updated to the sight. Oh, and there's a commented out 'Blogroll' with a list of names - none of which I had much luck in Googling. He also links to a blog, which he calls a forum, where you can leave comments: http://buttermilkisalive.wordpress.com/
The Buttermilk Blog has been quietly updating ever since I first found it. Beyond calling for people to help prove that Buttermilk is dangerous (but due to natural phenomenon - not aliens or magical stuff) there really wasn't much of a catch. Today the website updated with a new entry talking about an email from a disgruntled reader by the name of Rusty. The email links to Rusty's blog ( http://www.rustytruth.com/ )which is, well, one of those whacked out conspiracy websites you come across on the web every now and then.
I haven't gone through all of Rusty's Blog because I can handle only so much random 'conspiracy garbage', but at least at first glance, the other websites he links to are real, so at least there's only one crackpot to deal with, instead of several.
edit: Google has now indexed a Flicker page of Benji "Ben" Beale (one of the commented out blog roll names.
------------------
Technical & Other Info
The Winter X Games site is registered through the Martin Agency at Network Solutions. The Buttermilk and Rusty Truth sites are registered through 1and1 private registration. All three are hosted at 1and1 and were registered in November.
The Winter X Games rumor site is being 'advertised' around the web as well. I found a Wiki Answers question pointing to the website. I'm unsure if the television commercial is on the web anywhere at this point in time (I cannot view Youtube from work so I can't research that).
In one of his comments on the blog 'forum' , Jim Vaile gives out his address in Boulder, Colorado, to a place which once seemed to be in the same building as The Onion but which is now up for sale . Who knows if this is a 'live' location or not.
------------
So there you have it. It certainly doesn't seem like your typical LOOK AT ME, I'M SO COOL viral, and the fact that it keeps updating and adding websites could mean more to come. Or maybe someone just wanted an excuse to make a whacked out conspiracy website and get paid for it.

As a warning: I opened up both the Dr.'s blog and Rusty's in new tabs, and my computer locked up while it blocked a trojan. I'm not sure which site it was on (I opened both) but I'd say be careful if you're not running some protection.
That said, it could have been something else (although the notice was about Firefox) so I didn't mean to give this the kiss of death.
Looks interesting, otherwise.

It appears that Rusty's site had a link to the storm worm in a frame at the bottom of his pages. I emailed him and left a message on Dr. Vaile's blog about the worm. Everyone must have had the weekend off, but I finally got a message back this morning and all the links have been deleted. I'm guessing it was just an accident - I don't see ESPN as being the type to go around infecting peoples computers.

Buttermilk Blog links to a set of coordinates: 39.19′45′52 N 106.83′06′48 W,
The problem is, though, that there isn't a 106.83', degrees only go to 60.
However, the closest you can get is Snowmass, Colorado. Which, it seems, is also where the Buttermilk Mountain is located .
... never mind, I tried.

actually the coords are accurate - just take out the 's and google maps will fully understand . And yeah, it's right next to Snowmass - it's what appears to be a dead end in Aspen on W Hallam St (according to other maps; google may be up to date, or out of date, in that it seems to connect Hallam to the intersection). What's at this 'dead end'?
The US Forestry Department is at 806, on the opposite side of the road that google places the coordinates...

madeulook.com? One of the links from http://iamthegooch.com/my_buddies.html goes to http://www.madeulook.com/ , which seems a bit... unusual. Any idea if this could be related to BIA?
Also - has anyone tried emailing ButtermilkisAliveSPLAT gmail.com? That's Vaile's email, according to the BIA site.

On the guide Rowan posted there were a few pictures mentioned that couldn't be identified before, under the Rusty Truth box. I took the ones on graph paper, flipped them, and brought out the words written on the back of the photos. Some words can be seen under different levels of the burn so I uploaded all 3.
It looks like the first word is polar slate..?

Re: madeulook.com?
Not in the way the other sites are. The site has been around since 1997, and the current format has been around since January 2007 according to The Wayback Machine. I would have to guess it's just window dressing.

A couple of times. Seems like a nice guy, but he wants the discussion to take place on the BIA blog - that way everyone can see what's going on.

Are the materials in the picture
http://buttermilkisalive.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/rustys84pic.jpg
real, or in-game? Should we be trying to de-blur so we can try the phone number/website that are visible?
EDIT: Answering my own question, the heating/cooling company appears real, and the card is from Brian White in North Carolina who also appears to be real .

So anyone have anything new? I was just reading through the websites and noticed some interesting things on rusty's website. He talks about Barringer, bermuda, Buttermilk, and ???? being manifestations of energy in modern society. And the drawing has a rectangle with 4 points. with barringer, buttermilk, bermuda, and what looks like a faceless girl at the points. I tried figuring out the 4th one. looking at a map and taking the possible clues form the heating/cooling pic and real estate agent. could the 4th point be in north carolina? only thing that came to mind was the roanoke colony. Not sure any of this info even matters but hey. Just thought i would throw it out there. Oh and also i think Rusty thinks buttermilk could be Cipactli and possible these other four points. Tezcatlipoca used his foot as bate and cipactli ate it. Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl captured her anddistorted her and made the land out of her basically. ok im done now. Ignore this if it doesn't help!

Not sure if this has been mentioned but here is a stab. Upon watching TV up close I noticed something on an iPhone commercial. The first image they show is a map of Buttermilk. I then remembered the name being mentioned on ARGN.com and decided to post this.
Here is the AD I saw.
