Dude, I'm sorry, but that thing is nowhere near calm, unless you are comparing it to the other shots of it in the movie.

No, thats what they called it in production (probably because "The Cloverfield Monster" was too unweildy for the sort of fast conversations you have when working out blocking and camera angles), just like the production team of "Jaws" called the unnamed shark Bruce.

That was thier nickname, MGP is ours. neither is more right or wrong.
Ours is funnier.

The Monster doesn't really have it's own name, most animals don't unless a human names it. I'm sure the day after the attack the media named it, but we haven't seen that yet. The closest thing to a name that came from within the world the monster exists in is "Something Terrible".

Godzilla/Gojira didnt stomp into town announcing his name, the people of tokyo named him as he stomped on them. Once someone names him in world (and that would include IG) that will be his name, until then we have nicknames.
