I get where you are coming from for sure. But I think when it comes to art - it is a different thing then a drunkard at a party. Art is an expression - sometimes it is insulting, sometimes entertaining and sometimes it makes you think. I think that restrictions in terms of art would be closed minded (and I am not sure why we are having this discussion about this being banned - is there a rule against swearing on this site???) but of course that is the choice of the people who created this forum. If it is their place - they make the rules - fair enough. But I think as this IS art and as far as I can tell (from discussions with the GM) the intention was more to question the concepts of TINAG and give everyone a little shake then to insult the players. But of course if it is banned then so be it.

As for the pics - I totally agree on the Quetzalcoatl nature of the serpent. Also there are many images of serpant/dragons to be found in spiritual practices worldwide. (Dragon's especially in Chinese culture) - the more serpant like ones to be found further west.

I think it would be good to try and figure out if that writing/glyphs are real or invented - any one recognize them???

If this is an art form (which I believe it is) then shouldn't it fall under the freedom of expression? There is something going on in Canada right now where there is debate and possibly a law coming that will allow parliment to censor (and not support) films they deem to be 'damning' in some way. This takes away freedom of expression and freedom of speech and it is baffling to think it would even be suggested. Do we want another dark ages? Shall we up in arms and start burning books? Wink

I don't see the expression of this GM as a devalue of art - but perhaps a call to question some of the meaning instilled in art - and I can see no problem with that. As long as people take it from a logical point of view - as opposed to an emotional one I think the topic can be an interesting one!

Thirdly - wow - those pics coffeegirl posted are super cool!

Perhaps this is a real game after all? Wink

Hmm really, I've been too busy with school to even watch the news.

After about three people mentioned the myspace, I was actually surprised that no one even mentioned them/found them. Anyone recognize the language?

If that's the case, then perhaps a better word choice would've been, "Screw TINAG!" or something that still expresses the point without using such a strong word. Don't get me wrong, I like the concept of questioning TINAG. I think it's an interesting angle to take. But if the mods decide that it gives a vibe that they don't want on their place, that's their right. It isn't close minded, it's just deciding where to draw a line.

The writing in the first picture reminds me of Arabic, though maybe I'm primed to see it that way from Josh's mention of the Necronomicon, which as we all know was written by the "Mad Arab" Abdul Al-Hazred. The other writing is hard for me to make out. And as I'm horrible when it comes to languages, I have absolutely no idea whether I'm right or not.

Well... I have travelled a lot and never seen anything like it which leads me to think it might be invented. I don't think it is Arabic but I could be totally wrong. Let me see if I can dig it up anywhere...

Smile

Edit: My screen was not loading the first one! I agree it does look Arabic! - On the second pic there are a mix of symbols and numbers as well. Some of the symbols look like they might be astrological and some may even be alchemical... neat Smile

I'm pretty sure that the black and white writing is Arabic so I can second that. I can't read it though.

The 1st page of the book has the word Mazagan in the bottom right corner. I looked it up.

Mazagan is now known as El Jadida.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Jadida

That sort of connects with the Arabic (well I think it is.)

HAve I told you lately, Cather, how much I love you? I have been saying this same thing {in not so coherent staments} and kept getting shot down about it {in the chat room in reference to the usage on the forums}

I can't help but comment on the irony of a woman with the word "vulva" in her sig talking about something not being family friendly.

EDIT: Admittedly, that thread is made of WIN, but still.

Son of EDIT: Ah, woman. My bad, fix'd.

WOMAN, not guy, and the word Vulva is admittedly not family friendly per se, but at least clinical and much more accepted than the f-bomb. Then again, I am not family friendly in the least, and don't care if something is family friendly either, per se, but simply care that the quality of posts on the forums has slipped greatly over the last 3 big camps {which is usually misinterpreted as me saying "oooh, noobs, must kill! Me no like noobs, ohh ohh ahh"}

/me ends thread jack and goes off to try to figure out why search won't work with the word "wish"
