 		Thought youd guys would find this funny
Debating the idiot from the NY Post who said the movie would fail
Thought youd guys would get a kick out of this. If you remember right before the movie was released , there was a post on here about an article in the NY Post titled " Seven reasons Cloverfield would fail" . well i emailed him after it came out , calling him out on it. To this day he still wont admit he was wrong. Ive attatched the emails . You gotta start from the bottom since its a series of email responses , the first i sent him is the bottom one and read it to the top

AND he still wont admit he was wrong , he sends me a link to a Variety article about the drop off rate. Talk about dodging the issue. He said it would fail. Nothing about drop off rates. A lot of the critics can't accept good ol' monster/sci-fi/horror/etc.
That's why these genres are not recognized at the bullshit academy awards (who ACTUALLY managed to choose a good 'best film' this year).

Narrow minded critics, like this pompous fellow, like to be thought of as important and thoughtful for watching movies about gay-cowboys-eating-pudding (with hungarian subtitles) as opposed to possibly opening their mind to anything of awe and spectacle. Fuck the NY Post.

Thank you. as u notice i brought that up in my email to him. how most of us "normal" people cant stand the Oscar movies. And mad props for the South Park reference

EDIT. his email is on there, if anyone else wants to give him a piece of their mind feel free, the more the merrier. Id love to see him inundated with hostile emails, that would be hilarious

Well in all fairness he didn't say that it would fail at all. He pointed out seven reasons why it might fail and why he was skeptical about it. Hell he even posts quotes from the makers defending the film against the very points he's making!

Seriously, you don't come across well at all.

Well thats your opinion and your entitled to it. Lets just say well agree to disagree. My whole point in it was that he still wont admit he was wrong, thats it. Like i said earlier i respect your right to see things differently than me. thats the great thing about America and the rest of the free world. were all entitled to our own opinions, regardless of whos right or wrong. You, however, are the only one so far to disagree with me on this

Trust me i read it a few times and debated long and hard before writing him. His thing is he wants to change the subject to drop off rates and such instead of just admitting he was , and ill admit to this, somewhat wrong in his analysis. All of his reasons for possible, and there i again admit he did say possible , were way off base. People said the same about Blair Witch, and it in no way was a failure. Unknown cast, low budget, all hype, etc. My point to him was that low budget movies can work. Hes just your typical elitist movie writer that, to quote the earlier post, only likes gay cowboys eating pudding movies. He doesnt understand that the general public doesnt like those kind of movies. we like fun action movies. Your right he never said it would definitely fail, but he did lean toward that it most likely would, and he refuses to admit that he was wrong in his analysis of it. . sorry didnt mean to open a big ol can of worms with this. just thought it was funny. other than you , so has everyone else. this surprises me. You and I usually are in total agreement on things. i even gave u a brownie the other day in another thread. Guess we cant always agree on everything, but theres nothing wrong with that

Your very first contact with this guy is this:

"I have seen the movie and it kicks ass. All you movie reviewers are the same. A bunch of elitist assholes who only like artsy foreign movies or movies with homosexual themes. So to your review i give five fuck yous, and may the Cloverfield monster pay you a personal visit one day and take a monster size crap right on your pathetic little brainless head. Thank you and have a nice day"

Where you call him an elitist asshole, make veiled homophobic comments, give him five "fuck yous" and hope he gets shat on by a giant monster.

Oh and you call him brainless.

In your first contact with him.

You don't mention anything about what you claim you were criticising him about, you just insult the guy full throttle and that wound me up the wrong way.

In your next e-mail you say:

"So you wanna retract your previous statements about how this movie would fail. 130mil plus worldwide on a 25mil budget is far from failing. As i said to you in my previous email, shows how little you know about how small budget movies can work. Maybe in the future youll wait until something is out before opening your mouth about it, cause in this case it made you look pretty stupid. But i guess i shouldnt expect anything less from your paper, the New York "Com"Post heap. Your paper is a rag and a joke. Find a new profession youre good at , cause you suck when it comes to speculative journalism"

Where you make false claims about him stating that the movie would fail, claim that you made mention of how little he knows about how small budget movies work when you said nothing of the sort, insult the paper he works for and tell him that he sucks at his job.

 		Dude, one e-mail would've been enough. There was no reason to send him the second e-mail. He said it MIGHT fail and he was wrong. He didn't say Cloverfield sucked or kicked ass, he just said it might fall to the Snakes on a Plane syndrome. Also, it is so immature to call him out on liking movies with homosexual overtones, what are you in middle school? Not cool man. Plus, who cares if he didn't like it (which he never stated)

And as you said above we should agree to disagree. But you don't follow your own philosophy, you only adopt that one when people criticize your opinion about this guy. First off, i didnt send him two straight emails. my second email was a response to his email he sent back to me. so make sure you read the whole thing before you make statements for which you know nothing about. secondly, i didnt do this for unfiction. it was only today, after his last response that i decided to post this. now im sorry i did so. I thought some people would get a kick out of it. After the first couple of responses i thought i was right. they were supportive of me. Now the rest of you , with your responses, i guess i was wrong . OH and to your comment of get out more. Im not one of these people that spend all day every day on here. I have a life, a job, a wife and a family. im on here maybe two or three days a week. This whole thing started off as a joke , but some people on here, with your holier than thou attitude thinking your shit dont stink, who ragged on and berated people who had specific theories leading up to the movie, what makes u any different, and specifically you caerwiden, i recall quite a few times belittiling people for their theories. so practice what you preach. What makes doing that any different then what i did. Im not the one who needs to grow up. Im thirty plus, and not going to be told what to do by a bunch of children. It was done for a laugh, and those of you that dont get it, are the ones who need to get out more and get a life. The first couple of responses to my post were the ones that were right. i called him out and they got what i was doing. So what makes all of you any different. what, do the rules change if its done on here than if its done somewhere else? Youre all a bunch of hypocrites. Unfiction is starting to make IMDB look intelligent anymore. It was done for a laugh, so get the fuck over it.
