The Book
Mythological Objects

I asked Slice about the book to verify the name. It looked like mythological objects to me. She answered asking if I was a friend of Mary Jane's.

Just before she went down the hole she messaged that she would leave me the book.

I asked where but no answer. The contents you see there is not the M.R. James book and judging from the list I would say it is the Mythological Objects book.

I also sent Alice a copy of the article about the mirror I posted here. I asked her if she would sell me the mirror. She replied:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That web page certainly is 'interesting'. I feel educated in the importance of consideration when buying coloured candles. Please excuse me if I come across skeptical about this kind of thing, but I just am. But to be in danger of making myself a hypocrite, I certainly feel that this mirror is a bit of a lucky charm, I was up all night writing. I can't pull myself away from the story, I'd forgotten this feeling. I'm sorry, but I won't be selling this mirror any time soon!
I think the word in the note was Greek rather than runes, although my school days are just far enough behind me to have forgotten how to translate it.
I'm counting down the minutes until I can close the shop and get back to my real work.

All the best,

Alice

yeah she's def hooked. No reply to my emails last night, I wonder if we'll get any movement on either storyline over the weekend, or be left hanging...

BTW guys some of the stuff above dosn't really need spoilered, generally we use spoiler tags for puzzle solves (so other people don't accidentally see the answer, and have the fun of solving it themselves)

It says on the We Tell Stories website that the Slice story ends on Friday, so maybe that's it, they've all just disappeared...
Can't help thinking we're missing something though.

The new story is due for 1st April (Tues) so the disappearance of some characters could just be setting up for later parts to the storylines. If we have missed something there may be chance to reclaim when all stories are 'up'.

I have been lurking on this one and it seems pretty interesting.. some nice narratives at play.

The stories have been good, but too much left hanging at the end for my taste. I'm not sure that things will get tied up later, but we'll see.

EDIT: Yeah, checked back, 21 Steps finished kinda OK, very like The Game, but didn't say what "the company" was ot what he would be doing. This one just ends with them all disappearing down the hole, no explanation of what was down there or why they didn't come back, etc etc.

Overall it is a promising venture into a new way of writing stories, so I guess we can exect some growing pains

Greetings!

Wow. My brain is hurting, and my eyes are burning. I just started in on this game today, and I've just finished catching up on 21, Ink and Treacle, all of this thread, and Slice.

I've been a LiveJournal user for years now, so Slice has a special appeal for me. I agree that it doesn't feel...finished. I have some ideas about possible leads, but I'm feeling too unfocused, brainsore & eyesore, and lazy at the moment to really follow them. So, here are my thoughts, in case anyone else has already pursued them or has more mental capacity than me to pursue them... Wink Or, if anyone wants to tell me that I'm looking down all the wrong rabbit holes...

1) Some of the users on Slice's friend's list are obviously players. I know I added myself. ^_^ Some of the others lead to blank journals that were recently created, and it's not clear if they were made as quick props for the game or as quick accounts made by players to follow game. And a couple of the others...are intriguingly mysterious.

Tenfivegirl and rabitchaser...are you players? Otherwise, I suspect that you are a part of the play.

2) Is anything up with the Google maps locations in Slice's LJ?

3) I'm still puzzling over Mary Jane's moon-song/rabbit entry and the previous one-liner entries... "Asterisks for nights I went through"? Jacomo?

On a quirky note, I did discover the musician Nick Drake while doing a search "moon song jacomo" on Google. ^_^

All right... I'm sure there's more, but I'm out of time and out of energy. Good luck to the rest of you, and -- hey, are we ever going to get another post from -- WHOA! OK, somehow, I missed all of Rayandlynn's 3/28 entries. I'll have to check those out tomorrow.

Night, all!

Nights I went through clearly refers to times she went down the hare-hole.

Still not heard back from Alice either, guess they take the weekends off.

I have a feeling that if her friends from back home were on livejournal they would be under 'mutual friends.' My guess is all of her friends on lj are players.

I kind of hope that there is more to this story, but even if there is not, I can still get excited for a new one starting next week.

Oh, and hello from myself I guess, I've had nothing good to say for the past week, I guess you'd call that lurking. Smile

I've just realised something else, on the first story there was the phone calls, and puzzles that gave us the emailed story. There wasn't anything from this one, did we miss something??

Not sure. Running round St Pancras was fun (did anyone else try it?) but will they do that on all of the stories.

But I'm pretty sure that the Blue book and the index (which includes things like Obsidan Mirrors) relates to the larger game. Putting in a bunch of search terms from the list lead me nowhere - yet. Actually, I wonder if Alice has a copy in her shop?

Agreed.

"mosafecontents.jpg" does that title mean anything or am I crazy (or dim)?

Did we miss something?
Pictures

I'm new at all this, but the pictures bug me. Some just don't seem to belong, like the picture of the plate. And the names of pictures seem odd. The one of the contents of the book is oddest it is labled mosafecontents.jpg if you right click and all the others have numerical names. I think there is one pic on ray and lynns blog that has a name like image_somenumber.jpg but the others have combinations of numbers and letters. I have four cameras and none of them name images like that but I could be grasping at straws there and even if I am right I don't know what to do with it. I checked a random page of most recent images posted at flicker and didn't see image names like that.

Also wondering why so many cat pics and there are two pics on Slice's page that are not labeled the same style as the rest.

Two other pics that bug me: On her bed is a big pillow with a rabbit on it. In that hall pic (why take a picture of a hall?) there is a picture on the floor.

I gather that list of journal entries means something but not sure what. The way I understood it, each story should provide a piece of the 7th story and we haven't gotten anything from this second story yet.

That's just Flickr URLS. It's what you get when you don't bother creating a user name URL, which you have to actively do.

So that's 'Mythological Objects' Safe Contents? Definitely think we've missed something, but not sure if it will only make sense later. This story is over, onto the next on tuesday!

Cat Pictures - hey, that's what the web is for!!!!
