I too think we've missed a trick in story 2.

I'm still intrigued by tenfivegirl's livejournal posts - the location of 'the hospital' she describes fits with the story. However, I couldn't get anything else out of it - so I could just be jumping at (ghostly?) shadows.

She does!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I believe the book you are referring to is Mythological Objects by Christolina Minaret. The only copy I can find is in the previous proprietor's personal collection and is unfortunately not for sale. I tried looking it up in the ISBN index, but it doesn't appear to ever have been officially published.
I apologise in not being able to help you further in this matter, if you have any additional enquiries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Does that get us anywhere?

So, Mr Marsh-Ayre has a copy of an unpublished book on Mythological Objects that is also on Mary Jane's bookshelf. This book has a chapter on obsidian mirrors (shown in the Table of Contents on Ray and Lynn's blog), and Alice has found an obsidian mirror in the bookshop store-room, which seems to have remakable powers.

This looks like the link between the Slice story and the Treakle and Ink story. Do you think we should ask Alice to read the chapter on obsidian mirrors and see if it sheds any light on her mirror?

Yey, I was about to write an email to her as well. Instead of asking her to read it, can we get it copied here?

EDIT - I've emailed asking for a copy of the chapter is possible.

Hmm, I've had a reply from Alice:

Quote:
I'm afraid that I can't get hold of the copy of Mythological Objects which is in the shop here. It's locked in a display case in backroom of the shop and I don't have a key. I would also be interested in finding out more about obsidian mirrors as I think the mirror I found might be made of obsidian. If you do manage to find a copy of this book I'd be keen to see that chapter too.

All the best,

Alice

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow's story brings.

This article mentions the image of a rabbit being visible in the moon and also obsidian mirrors.

I've not been able to make any further progress but will keep working on it.

Hence the saying:

I've had a reply back too:
Quote:
What do you mean by foul play? I'll attempt to answer your many questions. I've not heard from Mr Marsh-Ayre, which I'm not sure what to make of yet. I'd expect him to be a little curious as to whether I'd run his shop into the ground or not, but then again, he has gone away to escape from everything so maybe he's deliberately not contacting me. Jacques didn't see him off and he's the only person to ask, I've not seen any mysterious woman yet which makes me think it was poor Hattie Loon - it's her stuff in there after all.
He went to the South of France but I don't have a forwarding address, I don't know if Marsh-Ayre wrote at all, I'll have to ask Jacques.

Now I have a question for you! Have you every heard of a book called Mythological Objects by Christolina Minaret? It's an unpublished book and so copies are very rare. There has been a sudden boom in interest in this book recently and I was hoping you might be able to find it for me, or at least the chapter on obsidian mirrors.

I'd asked a few questions about March Hare because I suspect he's been sucked into the mirror...seems pretty likely he won't be back I reckon.

Now we need to find a copy of an unpublished (possibly fictional) book, if only Ray or Lynn would come back...

I had a similar request for the book (unprompted) from Alice too.

Hang on a minute - are we supposed to be finding the location of the house where the only other copy of the book is?

If we can work it out maybe we (or Alice?) could go there to get it?

I was thinking similar Woda, I was going to suggest we get Alice to go round and get it... of course she'll probably end up down the hole too....

Just imagine if we found the house, and there was a hole in the wall... who'd go through?

There's a new Teacle and Ink post and Alice tells us:

Quote:
Surely if the book is mentioned in the Penguin project, they will have given you some hint about how to find it? I do apologise, but I simply must devote my time to my writing.

So it looks like we're on the right lines trying to hunt down this book. Maybe we'll be able to find it online somewhere? Or should we be trying to find Slice's house? This is making my head hurt.

EDIT: Also looks like someone is after Alice's mirror...

I've been going through the blogs again, the only thing I can think of is it must be something to with the houses they were looking at? Like maybe locating where they all are and drawing lines between them?

The first house they showed a picture of, the sign was Foxtons, however looks like they changed the name - could just be to avoid being sued, or could be a clue? The same goes for the previous post re Hotblack Desaito

EDIT: Don't think there's enough info on the pics to identify everywhere. Has anyone checked if any of the pics are stegged?

Pictures

I tried checking the images using camouflage and stegdetect but I don't know what I am doing. Not sure stegdetect worked right. Also you would have to know the password with camouflage.

I have tried particularly with the one called mosafecontents.jpg because the word safe made me think of a safe where they might have put something.

Tried PASSWORD and the cat's name and the cat's whole name i tried cat.

If you open this picture in notepad, the header reads a bit different that some of the other pictures. I'm not sure what Ducky refers to. You don't see that term showing up in headers for other pics. Is there a MAC program named Ducky for editing photos?
