Hints from Adrian in a blog post as to something more to be expected next week...?

Adrian Hon wrote:

The article also has a few tidbits about what we're doing with Penguin (then again, you'll find out much more early next week)...

Six Authors. Six Stories. Six Weeks.

mentioned during sxsw by the folks at sixtostart, so I heard . I'm pretty sure it is the same thing. pengrin.co.uk now directs to this

http://www.wetellstories.co.uk/

Well there's all sorts there, but surely the competition is a bibliophilic wet dream. 1300 books? 1300?!

[Edit] For those in the UK over 16. Sorry fellas Sad

Six stories, six classics, six authors and six questions to answer. From Sixtostart. When signing up for the google group, it gives the blurb:

Quote:

Over six weeks, six authors will write six stories designed for the internet, from Booker-shortlisted Mohsin Hamid to prize-winning Naomi Alderman and bestselling thriller authors Nicci French.

Naomi was one of the Perplex City writers, but she's not mentioned as one of the six authors on the We Tell Stories front page...

Been thinking about where the ARG is as it seems simply to be a straightforward competition. There are six writers on the site and were six additional tales on the Cheshire Cat (all the better to flick you contemptuously with my dear. I dislike cats. Particularly LOL ones Rolling Eyes ). The seventh, original tail matches with the ARG-writing author of the seventh tale for Penguin, Naomi Alderman. So, by my not too desperate comparisons, that's where the ARG will be. So where's the seventh tale then...?

Well - today is launch day - I reckon that you should do as I will be and as is traditional in these situations, repeatedly hit F5 on the site until something happens. Which is the very least I expect. Smile If something doesn't happen I'll carry on pressing it for a bit and then wander off to press something else.

I just realized I got an email about this a couple of days ago. I assumed everyone who signed up did also.

Penguin We Tell Stories listadminSPLATwetellstories.co.uk has invited you to join the We Tell Stories group with this message:

Hello.

You signed up, using this email address, to receive updates at www.pengrin.co.uk Thanks for that! We're moving our mailing list over to Google Groups, so we're transferring your email address over as well. Nothing will change, and you'll receive updates every week telling you when a new story is published.

And by the way, our site has launched at http://www.wetellstories.co.uk with the first story - The 21 Steps - going up on Tuesday. We're really looking forward to putting it online, and we hope you'll enjoy it too.

Thanks,

Penguin

Here is the group's description:

Get weekly updates about the latest digital stories to be added to Penguin's We Tell Stories. Over six weeks, six authors will write six stories designed for the internet, from Booker-shortlisted Mohsin Hamid to prize-winning Naomi Alderman and bestselling thriller authors Nicci French.

So, from the best I can make out, it looks like Tuesday (tomorrow) is the day the first story starts.

If you're interested, here's some notes from a wee talk Adrian Hon gave at the weekend that referenced this promotion - different ways to tell stories.
