Interesting to note that the hospital in Muswell hill, which is where we presume Hattie is, used to be a Mental hospital! Also, there is a wood nearby called Queens Wood.
Random musings I know, but this is what I do!

I was fiddling on slice's blog, and discovered that not only is there the picture of the note she posted, but there is also a super huge version (1.7MB)
It occurs to me that perhaps there's something in the larger resolution one to find, but blowed if I can.
Anyway, it's here if anyone else fancies a search.

Enjoy!

Just catching up on developments since I last managed to be on a computer...

Has anyone tried de-stegging the image wukka mentioned? I'm going to see if I can find any good software to give it a try myself, but I assume someone else has been checking all the other photos we've had for stegging as well?

EDIT: woohoo, 100 posts!

something up about strange names and number codes?

I noticed two details which could be interested, but couldn't really work something out of them , so I thought I'd share them...
1) we have a couple of strange strange names, like starmaker, spinankle, christolina minaret... and they are all 9 letters long, or 18. marsh-ayre too. maybe there's some pun in them?
I tried with anagrams and other stuff, but found nothing.
2) the numbers in the mail address of the guy having MO at craigslist are 627723210, which - except one 7 and 0 - are the same numbers with whom a lot of addresses of ray and lynn photos on the first page of their flickr begin: 2367122***.

any ideas?

chiara

for the numbers on Craigslist, that's an automated email address that gets set up when you want to hide your email address. The Flickr numbers are the same - they are part of the system, which is not controlable. Unless they are in league with Craigslist and Yahoo :p

Here is an extract from a postcard sent from a patient at the old Muswell Hill hospital in 1904:

Quote:
I have the heartiest desire to leave here and get to as quiet a place as possible. If possible to get a job. When you call I shall be prepared to leave and if you can arrange with the Dr. I can find a suitable place in the country for a day or two, when I hope to get a job, to keep myself on because I am utterly sick of all I know and I want to get away from everybody. At the same time I don't want to learn much more until I am on my own hands again.

Interestingly, not only does this sound similar to Spinankles profile blurb, but the card was dated June 12th

Quote:
June 12th
O Jacomo, O Jacomo.

I'm interested in whether the photos have been destegged myself. I would try but I'm in a Mac only household and can't find any software that would do the job.

Also, hello!

Your place and mine on Momday

I'm pretty sure I can't make Monday's performance so I was wondering who could?I assume the story will be archived as it goes along (well I hope it is) but I wonder if there are going to be links to Alice during the live stuff?

Not sure I will be either. I'm not normally home by then. I'm pretty sure it will all be archived though.

I'm off on Monday! Score!

Here's a little bit of trivia that may be useful:

Lewis Carroll's real name was Charles Lutwidge. He derived this pseudonym by translating his name into Latin -- Carolus Ludovicus -- swapping the two names around (Ludovicus Carolus), and retranslating the name into English: Lewis Carroll.

I wonder if Penguin used this trick on any of the names in the game?

Anyone know Latin?

Just brainstorming!

[Edit: And, oh yeah, while I'm brainstorming, I wonder... Is there a blog for MJ out there that we should have found? Seems reasonable. And I wonder where in Florida she "crashed." I live in Florida... ^_^ btw...what was she doing in Florida? Wasn't Slice's house in California? Eh.]

I can make them all except for Friday's so I'll have to wait for the dramatic finale Smile

The front of my Alice book says that Lewis Carroll is the reversed and transmogrified Christian names of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson so thank you for clearing up what on earth that actually meant! Smile

I've been wondering why there were 3 versions of "Go ask Alice" in spinankles library, so I had another look, followed some links which led me to this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Quote:
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Recall Alice
When she was just small

When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the door knob said:
"FEED YOUR HEAD
_______________
FEED your head"

I suspect it's just a joke thingy or something, but thought I would share anyway!

Pssst.. 'spoiler' tag isn't working when combined with the 'quote' tag'; thus revealing your spoiler.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
eg.

Yeah, just spotted that LOL!

I doubt if it's really worth spoilerising anyway Sad
