Now regretting I didn't go, but it would have meant disappearing from work early...

Now we know D is a she (I don't think we knew that before).

The paths remind me a bit of the Kabbalah (from the old puzzle game Treasure Quest rather than Madonna), but they are not the same names.

What do the points mean? Is there a correspondence between letter values and points (e.g. H=1, A=2, V=3 -> ahav=8?)

H WILL NOT STAY AWAY FROM THE MIRROr. D AND I HAVE HAD TO LOCK IT AWAY FROM HER, ALTHOUGH SHE IS EVEN NOW SEARCHING THE SHOP FOR IT. WE SUSPECT THAT CERTAIN MINDS ARE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE EFFECTS; H HAS LONG HARBOURED THE DESIRE TO PAINT, AND SINCE TESTING THE MIRROR HAS FOUND HER FLUENCY AND SKILL MARKEDLY INCREASED. D, WHO PROFESSES HERSELF WITHOUT CREATIVITY, SEEMS ALMOST IMMUNE.

FOR MYSELF, I AM INCREASINGLY CONCERNED WITH THE WARNINGS GIVEN BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. H SAYS THAT THE ELDERLY WOMAN WAS MUCH PLAGUED BY A PERSON WHO WISHED TO TAKE THE MIRROR, BY FORCE OR GUILE. I WONDER

H is obviously Hattie Loon , but who is D?

I'll eat my hat if they're not called Dora Mouse or something similar.

path names

It's looking like the names of the paths are words from the Bible, in yet another intriguing twist. I will try to find them all today so we can have a look at what's missing & see if we can work out the scoring system!

EDIT: This is an impossible task! I have found quite a few of the words, but it isn't shedding much light on the subject. I can't find actual Bible passages for all of them so can't really link them. I think something else, some other clue will probably crop up sometime over the next 2 weeks. I hope.

I was just drifting off last night when I suddenly wondered if Daisy Hill is D, it seems even more likely this morning now we know "D" is a she.

I'll have to get my Tarot cards & notes out!

The only problem I see with that is Daisy was the Eastern European woman, who we think is the same woman Spinankle refers to in his Library thing profile. He also refers to the third person in his group (Cheese or treacle) who's name he can't remember. That would make it unlikely that they are the same person... although, it is still worth investigating!

I have good news... and bad news...

Sorry if this post doesn't make an enormous amount of sense - I'm on rather a time limit!

I'll start with the good news:

Yesterday, with Jacques, he shooed us all off before his time was up, presumably to give others a chance to come and give him stuff, etc. I bought another beer, and joined the others outside (after a brief out of game chat with Naomi), at which point they reminded me of the time and that story-time was nearing (it was 6ish by now.) I said I had to go to a gig, which I did, and that they could all go find wi-fi and I would stay and talk to the Penguin peeps who were lurking.

Anyway, it transpires that no-one else came to see Jacques (aaaaahhhh) so I sat with him and gave him some relationship advice. He seemed to like it since he gave me everything he had left in his bag. This amounts to:

M.R. James - The Haunted Dolls House and Other Stories.

Behind curtain:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's almost certainly the one from Slice's room - if you look at the photo of her bookshelf, the book has a strange sticker on its spine, which corresponds on this copy

A Treasure's Trove - A fantasy for Everyone. Secrets of the Alchemist Dar

This seems to be a book/game for younger children about fairies and alchemy. I think it may also have been an ARG type thing, since apparently you can win diamond rings if you find the clues in the book.

P.D. James - Innocent Blood

Someone said something about James coming up quite regularly as a name - it is quite a common name, but nonetheless here it is...

And then at least a sugar bowl, and 7 other paper-wrapped things, but I'm afraid today has been so hectic that I haven't even opened them yet!

All of this of course has clues and bits of paper in, but again I've only had a cursory glance, and they mostly look like more rules (or, in fact, probably the same ones)

So that's the good news - I'm tame, and will, of course, share it all online with the rest of you - none of it has gone to anyone who doesn't participate in this forum!

Hurrah!

The bad news is that I work with SQL servers, and mine has broken today, so I haven't put anything on line, yet. Sorry.

I'll post everything here as I trundle through it...

Wukka - good for you. The most important thing out of that lot is likely to be any of the scoring documents, so hopefully we can fill in the gaps. And any blue letters/notes, so we know what marshAyre got up to. Looking forward to you posting it.

That's great new Wukka, well done!!!

You should have duplicates of the 5 pieces of rules we already have the complete set of but what were missing are 3 bits from the Paths section, can you please copy what I have already posted and fill in those blanks?

If you have any handwritten notes as well, please let us know as soon as possible!!!

And well done again! Smile

Second Life

So far I have tried searching for Parisienne, Slice, Daisy Hill, Jacomo (a surprisingly common name), MaryJane (there are no Mary Jane's), even spinankle. Nothing useful so far (that I've noticed).

I did get to the Penguin Books UK area; to teleport to the main part you have to go through a whirlwind of words; the words are actually the poem Jabberwocky, Which the closest I got to any kind of link between SL & I&T Confused

LOL at the sugar bowl, is someone a Lemony Snicket fan perchance?
incredibly jealous that you guys got to go meet Jacques yesterday, but very glad that you did so and could report back so thoroughly :)

the game sounds kinda fun, always like learning new card games, and this one reminds me somewhat of one i already know (but doesn't have a name, and is played with normal cards) so who's up for a game when we figure it all out?

(i hadn't bothered to remember my password to log-in before now but i have been following intently since the start, good work everybody so far :) )

i have just had a look at this, it's great!! Thankyou Chelec. It's a shame we didn't see your muffins, BG. I have to say everyone made a brilliant effort, muffins, songs, poems, paintings, and no matter what Jaques thought, the origami was impressive!

I rewound a couple of times, because when Jaques got my book out, I distinctly hear him say "La Priestesse". Can you guys remember if he called you anything? Is everyone that is playing now considered to be part of the deck? We have been looking at all the characters we come across, but what about ourselves?

Bit freaky if you ask me! Shocked
