Also mulling over MythObs ...

(accidentally posted this as a new topic ...)

This may be redundant, but in MythObs, the narrator seems to meet the White Rabbit/Magician (who looks at a pocketwatch, like the WR, and turns into an ouroborus, like the M wears) and then the narrator quite clearly becomes the Magician himself. Is some kind of transference taking place?

Also, has anyone else noticed the strange spacing on page 141?

"Behind a curtain, a show
man with whiskers and a red suit ..."

There's a big gap after "show." I don't know what it might mean, but it looks rather conspicuous to me.

looking back..

I have been looking back through to remind myself of stuff, it's so easy to lose track! Anyway, we know we need one more card, we don't know what it is or how many cards we actually have (I don't think) But I am reminded of the conversation with the Eastern European woman:

Quote:
"Tell me," she said, "what game is it you hope to play with the hand you hold?"
"Ah dear lady," I replied, "only safe passage"
She smirked, then burst into a peal of mocking laughter.
"Does what I have said amuse you?" I asked.
"Why," she said, "you have too few cards for that! Too few in your
hand, and you know that the game is only to swap, never to give. You
need one more."
"But," I said, "I understood that…"
"You understood nothing," said the woman, before disappearing into the crowd

The stories from this week lead us to this URL: some in game links with a book review (Marsh-Ayre).

Thanks to all I spoke to, it was fun!

Tulip Roots for Onions

Referenced in Alice in Wonderland:

http://books.google.com/books?id=-blJhrfvouUC&pg=PA80&lpg=PA80&dq=tulip+roots+for+onions&source=web&ots=BuwBtXQQ3a&sig=QEEJfparMViBDWKpsxmluo0YHVc&hl=en

EDIT:

Quote:
I turn the card over.

"This…" I say, "this is not the card I wanted. You have made a fool of me." The laugh rings out loud and unmistakeably masculine. Then a voice hisses low in my ear, from behind the mask. "My brother and I," it says, "will take all we need from you and little Ms Klein. Neither of you will escape the mirror, and when we are done, we will take more than just this world." I blink, and he-she-it is gone. I do not understand. None of the inhabitants of this place is supposed to say the names of the cards. There is only only explanation for he-she-it having done so. They, like me, are a traveller.

Sounds like he-she-it took a World card from Marsh-Ayre:

 faux Pas?

I loved the article in the Guardian http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/books/2008/04/writing_as_a_spectator_sport_1.html

and I left a comment, kinda alluding to the 7th story.

After I posted I suddenly thought, is that okay? or have a breeched some ARG rule? It's my first time, so i'm not sure... Embarassed

chat room histories

I asked the moderator where the histories of the chat rooms were today.
You can find them here:

http://chatlogs.meebo.com/room/wetellstories/logs/2008/04/

we just got so many clues with the article. i don't know if there will have been anything in any of the chats. I don't remember anything cropping up but who knows.

Thanks veebee.

The video makes it look much better than it really was. Smile

so many clues.....

San Miguelion de los Mercados : nothing shows on Google. de los Mercados, means of the markets though...

..and we clearly need to work out the next card he needs to give him either a certain hand or simply the best hand...easy when really we have nothing

I wonder if we can get Alice to "dream" about March Hare?

The remainder

I received in total:

PD James Innocent Blood
A Treasure's Trove: Secrets of the Alchemist Dar
MR James The Haunted Dolls House

A sort of sugar pot thing
Box of matches with cherubs on
Heart shaped photo frame
Silver Snuff Box
Porcelain Door Handle
Two small pink china birds

I know... seriously.

Anyway, I'll try and find a camera and snap them all for upload, but tbh they don't look important.

I got a whole bunch of versions of the rules that have already been posted. I found the remaining bits from the paths, which I have already posted, and I found this:

Man Cards:

Man of Life cards

The Emperor, The Pope, The Hanged Man

Life Cards:

The Chariot, The Wheel of Fortune, The Tower, The World,

Spirit Cards:

Justice, Strength, Temperance, Judgment (sic)

Celestial Cards:

The Star, The Lovers, The Sun, The Moon.

Second Life

Probably nothing, but I was looking at the old Perplex City stuff on WLP, and followed a link to this site:
http://www.tranzed.net/project_syzygy/Pre-Launch.htm

The thing is the Second Life Penguin Island has a huge crate in the snad with the name "William Gibson" on the side; i just noticed that he is also mentioned as part of the solution to the puzzle...

Hmm, interesting.

So which Path is the one to escape from the mirror?

Which cards does Thomas Marsh-Ayre hold?

(Having worked out which one(s) he needs...)

How can we get Alice to convey a message to him?
