Eek! Cabbage! Get some sleep!!!!

I'll try and write another story for this tonight - so many things to pack in this time, it'll be much harder to disguise, but I'll do my best!

The endgame approacheth.....

Ok, the date we got wrong refers to M.R. James, born 1st August 1862, died 12 June 1936

Still not sure that helps though....

Litt's Dates
Edward Kelley

Really? I just found this:

Quote:
Then under date of November 25, 1595, Dee enters this curt note: "the news that Sir Edward Kelly was slayne." Never thereafter does he mention this adventurer's name.

and this:

Quote:
A horoscope drawn up by Dee indicates that Kelley was born in Worcester, England on August 1, 1555.

We've already got Lewis Carroll from 27/01 and 14/01.

This would mean we're still short of the 12/06 and 19/06 dates? However, I can't find anything about them...

Think Kelley is a more likely candidate than M.R. James.

Are there any other characters we're missing?

It seems we only had one date incorrect:

Quote:
Not Anne Frank, though that's a nice coincidence. More obvious than that.

So that would indicate that Lewis Caroll and Nick Drake are both correct.
Who could be more obvious than the writer of the story Slice was based on?

I did look at Kelly, as I posted a few posts back, but wasn't sure about him due to the lack of real evidence about the date of his death. And 25th Nov has been taken by Nick Drakes death.

Always worth keeping an open mind though!

It links in, not just to Slice, but T&I - I knew there had to be a link! I wrote here ages ago about the "James" connection. I'm off to trawl back & find what I said!
Just a couple few other things now I'm all caught up (wasn't online yesterday - got home so tired that I couldn't stay awake, the paranoid side was wondering if I should have bought the plate I saw in the Helen & Douglas House charity shop in Oxford - it had a picture of Durer's Hare on it, maybe I was so tired because of all the coincidences... Wink)

Is this another danger of ARG's getting so involved that you start getting this drawn in?

Okay...stopping rambling on with the ideas:
Alice:
Quote:
As for me, I'm going for a quick tube ride to calm down, to remind myself of what's real. Only a few stops. I'll be back soon.
Nooo! tube rides and dark windows! Not good! Is this a cloo though? What tube stations are a few stops from where the bookshop is? (can't remember where the shop is re tube, could someone remind me?

Hippyfrog: Not sure I entirely agree with the idea that Dorcus is also the doctor, BUT
a)she could be posing as Dorcus, and actually be someone else (androgynous characteristic again?), which would explain why she didn't want to see Hattie, although with Hattie in a coma, i don't think she'd recognise anyone)
b)
Quote:
The hare in one place becomes another hare in another place. Spooky.
could this, combined with references to the hare in the British library mean the doormouse is also a hare? ummm...just read that back, maybe not!
c)Dorcus doesn't seem that bothered by her narcolepsy at the moment, and Alice seems to have it instead!.

Went back to Alice's blog to look up how to spell 'narcolepsy' Smile and remembered how Jacques identified Dorcus. I think this conspiracy theory could rest on whether Jacques is to be trusted or if he identified someone else as Dorcus.

Quote:
And, as for Slice herself, Lisa/Alis, I'll have to metamorphose her, too.

Had seen Slice/Alice connection, but not the Lisa/Alis one! Should we look out for another type of (slice)Queen, since the one we know is going to change?
Is Doctor Dee the wrong real life person, should it be Toby Litt instead? he has to metamorphose her?

PS Amadeus, don't know if this helps, but the BBC Heroes site http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/heroes/season2/episodes/index.shtml?episode01 has some catch up video

EDIT:hello Bridge and VB didn't see you there!

EDIT: here's the link to my "James" post:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=509429

Wukka later got 3 books from Jacques, and when they met up:
Quote:
PD James Innocent Blood
A Treasure's Trove: Secrets of the Alchemist Dar
MR James The Haunted Dolls House

(BTW Wukka, did the photos of what you got ever get online, or did I just miss that post?)
Veebee, you later noticed the that the are James books in MJ's room.

MR James is the guy who's story Slice was based on, so maybe it is just Slice related, not T&I related after all... Sad

Hi IngyW!

WRT: Tube ride.

Nearest tube stations to Muswell Hill are Highgate and Archway. There is only the Northern line anywhere near, with Tuffnell Park then Kentish Town to the south, Finchley stations and Woodside park to the north.

Can't see anything that might help there Sad

Edit: right, the first story is up in the * NEW STORIES * section of contrariwise. It's called The Travelling Medicine Show. Quite proud of the last line, actually! Very Happy

And proud you should be indeed Cabbage!

EDIT: Oops, double post, sorry!

Alice said a few stops, so that could be what, 4, maybe 5 stops. I suppose she could've gone down to Mornington Crescent...a nice tribute to "Humph" Smile

Otherwise, I agree it doesn't sound like she's going to change at any point, so probably not getting out at Euston and on to St Pancras... to bump into Rick and start the whole cycle off again Wink

(yes, I've just dug out a copy of the tube map... Smile)

Cabbage - I must agree, the last line is great Very Happy

WRT Slice:

I'm tending to agree with Amadeus that the ????-???? relates to birth to death dates rather than subtraction, it was the "x3" that confused me.

So we have:
Lewis Carroll (aka Charles Dodgson - could be useful? I'm near Oxford, so if any Alice hunting needs to be done where the books were written I could be able to help!) ahem, sorry, where was I?

Lewis Carroll January 27 1832 - January 14 1898
MR James August 1 1862 - June 12 1936
Nick Drake June 19 1948 - November 25 1974

Character names from Slice (do I really have to write them all out again?) and
Quote:
a Box of Fruit

I wonder if we need the fruit, if it leads us to the naming of MR James. alternatively, it could lead us to how the characters names relate.

Okay. spent half the morning on this!! Taking A Break!!

Mine posted too.

I do hope we're giving our man on the front line the right information...

 New Post From Alice!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and it looks like I was on the right lines when I mentioned Mornington Crescent!
We did wonder earlier about the underground she refered to. Now I'm wondering, if none of us can remember the tube (which, as we mentioned it before is probably not the case) does that mean our world is the "Mirror World"?

If the mirror can't be destroyed by breaking it, does that mean the only way to destroy it is from the Mirrorworld (possibly our world?)
