OMG. My flabber has been gasted.

At least it shows that jacques probably isn't evil, if he'd of been evil he would have realised Alice wasn't going to be happy with him selling the mirror. As it is it looks like he thinks he's done her a favour.

Thought her references to the tube sounded odd...using the words 'relaxing' and 'london underground' in the same sentence seemed designed to tip us off Razz

Now the question is, can we find the doctor this side of the mirror? is there going to be another real life challenge (I hope so...) we really need to talk to Jacques and ask him if he knows anything about him or how to contact him...I'll email alice to get her to ask him.

Oh lordy lordy lordy!!! We knew there was something afoot with Jacques and 'The Doctor' so I'm glad this lead has played out Smile

We know Jacques has the Doctor's card as Alice saw it flutter from his pocket a few weeks (blimey has it really been that long?) ago and he must have contacted him to tell him that the mirror was for sale.

I would say that this Doctor has been sniffing around the mirror for quite some time and he had given Jacques his card telling him to call if ever there was an opportunity of him getting hold of it.

So does the card have his address on it? And how does 'The Doctor' fit into our extraordinary story with AiW characters galore?

EDIT:

yay we got promoted. Unfortunately I don't think this is going to be running that much longer...so our time as a real piece of chaotic fiction will be short.

Hmm, this description of the tube unnerves me. To Alice the 'real' tube is either the tube from a long time ago or not the real tube as we know it, but the tube she actually experienced is more like our real tube.

Therefore
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Does that mean Alice herself is fictional (just like AiW)? Or is she just forgetting what the tube is like?

when I read here first post about the 'changed tube' I thought she's gone into Silent Hill world. But it does seem to make sense that we are the mirror world, or at least an aspect of it.

I'm hoping for a event type finish as well...I've been quiet as writing stories definitely not a strong point.

I think we're most definitely still in the real world, it's just "the Doctor" is gaining more and more power over it every day (one day the two will merge, apparently). The tube Alice described probably was real a couple of days ago but "the Doctor" has since made it fictional and one that used to be fictional is now real. Such is the power of stories.

I still think the Doctor is Betty. We are not sure of "her" actual sexuality, and where did Jaques find someone so quickly to buy the Mirror if he didn't already know they wanted it?

Hang on, I remember him wanting to sell it right at the beginning. Someone needs to e-mail him and find out who has it!!

EDIT: And as soon as someone starts mentioning that the end is " Surely tomorrow" We get moved to a CF potential forum? Pleeease, Someone @ Un knows more than we do....
Well, it is officially the first day of the month, so for luck for the rest of the month, I say "White Rabbits" !!!!!!

Yes, I am equally disturbed by this. My current thinking is that there may be a blurring in Alice's mind of her own story world - the one that she has been writing about with the evil Maltravers in it - and reality.

It was back on the 12th April in Treacle and Ink that she first mentioned visiting a friend in West London on the tube.

http://treacleandink.wordpress.com/page/2/

So she had "a bit of a moment" when she stared into the black windows and it was like looking into the obsidian mirror, and then she came around again and her book was upside down on her knee.

So maybe the mirror has tainted her perception of the tube more than other things in the real world, because of this experience?

I think the idea is that the tube always was like that, don't you remember? and Alice is the only one who still does because doom allowed her to just to torture her. We've all had our minds altered by that evil doctor and his power over the mirror. He's made something we knew and (presumably) loved become fictional...and here was I thinking it was all Transport For London's fault. Razz

The Doctor...and others

I'd like to believe that the mirror is safely tucked away in the TARDIS, but...

Jacques wanted to sell the mirror before, he was quite angry when Alice "hid" it in her bedroom. I think the Doctor gave Jacques his card, hoping he could get his hands on the mirror eventually, knowing that Jacques sells things from the shop on the side. So, Jacques is not the bad guy, just being manipulated but by which doctor? Dee or Doom? Think we could get a description off of Jaqcues?

Is Dorcus still asleep? She wouldn't have let Jacques sell the mirror.

I agree, maybe she's dreamt of her experiences on the tube, which hopefully means we aren't in the mirror world after all, although I like the idea about Transport for London, who knew they could have been the good guys!

Stories anyone? Think we should let MA know we are no longer in possession of the mirror?

So far we've only only need to tell stories when asked. There's so much information that has to go into the latest round of stories that any more might just confuse M-A.

Been re-reading all of Alice's blog, and a few things jumped out:

WRT Alice's Story, the one the mirror has had her write. 1 of the characters later turned up - Maltravers, and I'm guessing the hero & heroine are M-A and Hattie. Also mentioned:
Quote:
the discovery of a secret society operating in the London Underground

If this is a link to the Mirror & real worlds colliding, then could other parts of her writing be important? Other things that stand out are
Maltravers assasinating a Russian Ambassador, and the greatest Sapphire has been stolen. Have sapphire's come up before?

WRT Jacques: a month ago (31st March) he said he was approached by someone wanting to buy the mirror. This could have been when he got the card. "The mirror of Dr..." had been hidden away in the storeroom until Alice desplayed it in the shop, capturing the Doctor's interest?

Is he really French?
Quote:
"Mr Ayre, 'e 'as gone," he said. And before you all ask, yes, his accent was absurdly French and there's really no other way to convey it. "
or is this a ruse, and his acting surprised at Alice's reaction just his acting classes helping him out?

Doctor Doom was the name given to the character by Hattie. How much would she know about the fictional Doctor Doom? Are we assuming he is who he isn't. Maybe he's another fictional character?

BTW being new here what does "CF with Potential" mean? If we can open related threads, should we open one for Slice's story?

Ingy, I wasn't sure about that either - I'm half-French, and "M'aidez" is seriously dodgy French - it should be "Aidez-moi". I wish I'd been able to get to the live event to check him out, but I didn't leave work until 8:30 that evening...

The problem is that it might just be a Meta issue that they got bad info regarding the correct phrase - the rest of the things he's said, though few and far between, have been A-OK...
