The wiki is looking good, thebruce.
But, there are quite a few discrete parts to keep track of and I'm working on a spreadsheet to hold the basic package content info.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=ptjhtHIOvvyRKA_B1E8J1Bg
Could I get those that have received a package to check their entries?
Even if the row is filled out, I'd like to be sure the pictures are all in the correct columns. PM/whatever me with any changes.
Thanks.
If anyone wants edit rights, just send me an email address.

With all the various water related photographs included in the packages it may be worth a mention that the quote "Curiouser and curiouser!" is the first line in Chapter II: The Pool of Tears

I might be grasping at straws here but listen to this: some of the packages (at least one of them) say "follow the clew", being the ball of yarn. This could be just a pun on clue finding in ARGs or just a reference to mythology, but how about measuring the actual strings to see if there be something of any significance? It could be nothing, but we never know. Another thought I just had: follow the distance in the strings from the address they sent the packages from to find another clue/clew?

Well, not just a pun, but an actually word. Clew refers to the yarn directly. Both as a generic thing, and a specific one.

clew 1 (kl)
n.
1. A ball of yarn or thread.
2. Greek Mythology The ball of thread used by Theseus to find his way out of the labyrinth.

As are we all, I believe. However, that Reference number looks rather suspicious:

Quote:
Reference #18.58e5640.1204447160.17e6426d

The referance changes each time, if you keep refreshing you get a different referance code.

I can only assume it's date-based, but I can't make rhyme or reason from the values without knowing the exact server time as well.

For the record, third number is always decimal and *seems* to be a second count, at least by comparing it to refresh speed.

That's chapter II from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, to be exact.

I'm guessing this is supposed to confirm that all this will indeed be part of an ARG. It could even be considered the rabbit-hole (another Alice reference).

Christ... how many Alice references do we need before we get the point? Isn't there like six or seven ARGs using Alice already?

Well, Alice-references have been common with ARGs from the very start... the term "rabbit-hole" was first used during The Beast (2001), to signify the starting point or trailhead of that game.

It has become a general term since then, and the PMs using another Alice-related term here is probably just their way of subtly hinting this is part of an ARG (and not some freakish 1920 Olympics collector gone haywire).

who cares how many times people use alice and wonderland references, if it helps the person explain the material of which they are talking about and them to processing of information then use it cause right now is the time to evaluate the evidence of the case/mission and the information of which other people are providing. now i have been thinking that maybe one or all of the pictures that we have are being used a camouflage and was wondering if anybody could have an idea as to what the password could be just incase they are being used as camouflage.

those you who have recieved the packages do you still have them. if so you could probably use the tracking number thats on the box and track it back to where it actually came from.

Point missed entirely--prolly my fault. It's not the obvoius Alice reffy which may be a hint--it's the water and Pool which may prove significant in the ARG. **stops beating poor dead horse**

find thelostring

It might be too simple to be anything but a blind alley, but googling 'thelostring' does produce a young Chinese woman with
profiles on Asian dating sites, a suggestive description and one with links to a video of a young boy singing a cover of 'Tell Me Why'.

Her name is Lan and her location is variously listed as Guangzhou and... Beijing

video link

the song video when googled also linked to another website with a story about a young Chinese woman tortured for practising Falun Gong, but this might not be in the game

i think curiouser and curiouser is just a way of saying 'this is a rabbit hole".

the contents of the box do not indicate an "alice" tie in.

thelo string: love it. greek wordplay, olympics, secrets...

oh, and fwiw, thelo.gr is also Thessolonika, Greece website. but it doesnt look IG
