Is it possible this is an outfit for a triathlon?

The goggles look like open water swimming goggles. Someone look up triathletes. Wink

That's what I thought too but the first Olympic triathlon wasn't until 2000 in Sydney. I have to think that the outfit and goggles are related to an Olympic sport that held competitions during the 1920 Olympics due to the package clues.

I'm not. I made a comment in the chat room this morning about Olympic sponsors, and that was one that I listed. Even when I worked at the UCLA Village (serving dinner to the athletes), in 1984 they were a "Proud Sponsor" and the logo was found all over the place.

EDIT: To avoid double posting. That is NOT a triathlete suit (I was a swimmer, waterpolo player and triathlete in the '80s & '90s). However, I might suggest she could be a diver. If she is not heavily muscled in the upper body and if she is limber, she might be a diver.

Could be interesting to find out about the other dreams and athletic skills of the others (but I'm at work and have access to NOTHING except uF right now).

Has anyone else contacted people other than Ariadne? I wrote Diego and asked him what he had on or with him when he woke up in the labyrinth. I can't understand the korean or japanese, so I really have no idea what they are saying - if anyone here can translate & post it, I sure would appreciate it (and I'm sure others would too)

I had time to leave a message on Markus' flickr this morning and that's about it.

Ariadne's outfit

IMHO, Ariadne's outfit is more in style with Logan's Run than anything a competitive swimmer might wear. The single shoulder strap suggests that it is unsuited for symmetric body motion.

But asking after the clothing the others found themselves in when they awoke is a fine avenue to explore. Please do so!

Okay - i wrote Markus and Diego asking them what they were wearing or had with them when they woke up in the maze. I asked Markus (need to ask Diego when he replies) if he has been having any strange dreams, and asked if they are feeling any inclination to a sport activity. Who knows what details will help us Smile

ETA instead of double posting - Diego replied
Quote:

Hello XXXXX, thanks for contacting me and helping me! I contacted myself with Ariadne, I cannot believe yet let should be others in my same situation!
I answer: I am in Buenos Aires now, to the awakening it had a black blindfold wrapping the eyes up, joggings blacks and a white rower.

Thanks for the help, I hope that they should serve of something my responses to unravel this mystery, really I need it!

I dunno if this was already mentioned, but she said she had been into tae chi since leaving the maze. I tried posting this earlier and it didn't show up for some odd reason. Anyway, I had emailed about that triathlete idea a while ago and this is what she wrote back...

"yes! the doctors said i was in "peak physical conditioning"... maximum heart rate capacity and lung capacity and muscular endurance and all that. they were pretty sure I'm an athlete and actually contacted different local teams to see if anyone reported a missing athlete.

I've been spending a lot of my time doing tai chi of all things trying see if I can remember what it feels like to practice sports... who knows, maybe i should be biking instead... but i don't have a bike lol. i do have access to a garden where an old couple practices tai chi everyday, so that's what i've been doing... i'm not sure about the goggles and sports though. seems like an unlikely combo??"

I'm also thinking the goggles might have nothing to do with the outfit. I had a little bit of a theory about her dream and the 5 pairs of goggles having something to do with global unity or some theme like that, 5 goggles= 5 lost athletes from 5 countries= 5 rings in the olympic logo, which would explain her talking about strange voices she didn't understand. Then she talks about feeling complete when they're all brough together.

Again, I'm really sorry if all this has been posted or if this is all really obvious.

I'm gonna go for a run now and think it over Smile

Could this be her labyrinth?

A few brief observations, which are probably of little consequence but never mind:

That off-the-shoulder skimpy number and those goggles: whatever they are designed for, they really do not look to me like anything a 1920s sportswoman would wear. They're modern. However, they might be modern equipment for an event that was also held at the 1920 Games. Or the goggles might not be directly connected to the rest of the outfit.

Ariadne's country of origin: various possibilities are mentioned in her video. That accent certainly isn't British, and she doesn't sound South African or Antipodean to me either. She sounds North American to me.

Esperanto: might be worth noting that, according to Wikipedia, "Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy and flexible language that would serve as a universal second language to foster peace and international understanding". This ties in nicely with Pierre de Coubertin's hopes "to foster international communication and peace" through the Olympic Games.

I was thinking that, the outfit is not really a swimming outfit but could be something that does not require both shoulder straps. And there are plenty of non symmetric activities. Archery for one. Some of the track and field events. I was looking at volleyball as well. Anything that would require sun protection for your eyes...

To the ones here who already established a communication lines with the... we have find a name for them (like to Lost, Losties, or to Cloverfield - Slusho seven) ----
... could you ask them to post a photo of the clothes or items they were found with? If I manage to establish communications I'll ask for that.
I saw that Diego (in hi5) has 2 friends there: Sadina, from Berlin Germany; and Red, LA. Could they be IG? They're part of the trovu la ringon perditan group.

[Edit: no reason to spoiler your request. We usually use the spoiler tag for puzzle solves or behind-the-curtain stuff that others may not want to see without warning. Thanks! - kona]

Reply from Markus about what he was wearing.

Quote:
Ja!

I really don't think that she's sporting an authentic American (or Canadian) accent... either she's lived in Canada or the US and has taken on some of its intonation or she's faking an American accent and is about 80% effective. Can any Australians detect any of their homeland's accent or intonation in her speech? I hear it especially at the beginning.

I'm completely with you on Ariadne's dream. But let's keep in mind that in Ariadne's dream, she removes her own goggles, then collects five additional pairs.

There are six sets of goggles total, we have found Ariadne and four others right now.

immediate SPEC: we need to "Find Him", someone who would play the role (or name) Theseus.
