Hello hello! Got a package here too.

Pictures are forthcoming as my camera just bit the dust recently (I'm good for nuthin!).
Notes of interest:

- Fortune says, "You will soon make a decision of earthshaking importance."
- My clew is olive green.
- My postcards are as follows: RAAIM057, XAALN032, RAAIM059

I'll try to put some pics together on short order. And I can take care of putting all my info on your wiki, thebruce.

I'm liking this more all the time. Very international and it looks like it's designed for a long run to boot.

Images from my box are here. Nothing new?

My card numbers: XXAARI024, XAALN032, RAAIM059.

I also think the yarn colors are significant, especially in light of the name Ariadne. She's the one who gave Theseus a ball of string so that he could find his way into and back out of the labyrinth, so the symbolism is pretty clear.

Interestingly, there's a part to that myth cycle which features a lost ring: Theseus was Poseidon's son, but Ariadne's father, King Minos 2, questioned this. So Minos drew a gold ring off his finger and cast it into the sea, challenging Theseus to recover it, which he did (ref here). I wonder if a quest similar in some way is being set for us?

The ring colors aren't supposed to represent the continents at all and there is definitely no official assignment of continents to the colors. That said, here's a list that some sites say is what Pierre de Coubertin intended for their meaning:

Code:
Blue      Black    Red
Europe    Africa   America
     Yellow    Green
     Asia      Oceania

I might be grasping at straws here but listen to this: some of the packages (at least one of them) say "follow the clew", being the ball of yarn. This could be just a pun on clue finding in ARGs or just a reference to mythology, but how about measuring the actual strings to see if there be something of any significance? It could be nothing, but we never know. Another thought I just had: follow the distance in the strings from the address they sent the packages from to find another clue/clew?

I wondered about unravelling my ball of yarn to see how long it was, mainly because I thought it might refer to a specific Olympic event (e.g. 400 metres or something like that). I doubt I'll have time to do it today, but will give it a go at some point, if people think there might be some merit in the idea. I'll just need to find my really long tape measure - at the moment I can only find a 30cm ruler!

And Bladerunner1978, it's very polite of you to ask to join in, but there's really no need - feel free to just jump in with your opinions, ideas, etc and see where things go from there. You might like to read up on some of the information for beginners in other parts of the forums, such as the Meta section.

Riquardo, unfortunately 1920 Olympic Way, San Francisco CA is not a real address. Sad

maybe the yarn and the pix have something to do with the five countries that were banned from the 1920 olypmic games.

Woo! Box!

Pics later - but here are the basics:

Outside of box: "follow the clew ... 03.03.08"

From T.L.Ring, 1920 Olympic Way, San Francisco, CA [I'm standing there at the door thinking - I knew a Tom Ring in college...then I saw the 'clew']

Same poster, on back "It's a secret someone has been keeping for a very long time"

Yarn - white, baby blue and light brown
Same bit of paper, same message

Three postcards:

1. March 3, 2008
Find her...

2. March 4, 2008??
Find the others...

March 5, 2008??
Find him...

March 11, 2008??
Find the secret

3. August 24, 2008
Save the world

I'm not seeing any code numbers on the cards... Pics seem to be the same as thebruce got.

First ARG with its own box for storing clews!

I also just got a box from T.L. Ring, USPS, "follow the clew 03-03-08".

My string is white, lt blue, yellow and lt green.

My fortune is "You will soon demonstrate great leadership."

My postcards are RAAIM072, 055 and XAALN033.

Everything else is the same as previously reported.
