According to negrito_funes' understanding of Larissa's video, Renata was discovered in a labyrinth.

The secnd, there's a video of a girl, Larissa from San Pablo, Brazil. I could understand 95% of what she said.

She said that Renata and her became best friends,

But I'd love for that to be confirmed that with another transcription of Larissa's video, and email with Larissa.
Is there anyone who can speak/write Portuguese and take that on?

Ariadne says she has exchanged emails with Larissa, I think that means she's IG.

As an interesting side note...

Here is an interesting side note:

Quote:
On February 12th, 2008, Steven Spielberg announced his decision to end his role as artistic adviser to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

It all goes back to "The Beast", doesn't it? Smile

Okay, back to researching the sports.

Quicky question: Are we going with these are actors/actresses and not real athletes? Because I'm looking at the teams for all the sports and comparing photos with our current characters to try and make a match (yes, I'm getting desperate here).

Indeed. and even more so as the same Speilburg announced on March 3rd (our launch day) a website for

Hmmm... curiouser and curiouser, if I do say so myself. Smile

EDIT: Oh, and I'm going with archery for the sport that our dear ariadne plays.

I am liking this spec.

I may be retreading some ground here so sorry. Greek myth.

Ariadne was the princess of Crete, daughter of Minos, who commissionned the labyrinth. Crete demands a tribute from Athens which is their finest young men and women (it might even have been their athletes), who are abandoned in the labyrinth to be eaten by the Minotaur. Theseus is of Athens and joins the sacrifice to try to end it. Ariadne knows her way around the labyrinth and it is she who gives Theseus the yarn so he can slay the Minotaur and find his way out.

Ariadne and Theseus leave together. They stop at an island Naxos and now there are many different versions as to why they part, only some involving Dionysos.

Athens is the home of the Olympics: the 5 rings.
Theseus is the prince of Athens.

The Minoan civilisation was partly destroyed by an earthquake and tidal wave and it's one of the candidates for the legend of Atlantis. And Ariadne is of this place, not Athens.

So is the lost ring then whoever is Theseus?

btw I am thinking these must be athletes from another time. We have the Greek myth, they are a sacrifice against the monster. From the 1920 Olympics or maybe even spirits from Ancient Athens? Surely this is such a big game they want it to be the spirit of the Olympics?

I don't think it is archery. While I won't dispute the need to be in shape for that sport, I think hers is something more physical requiring some endurance.

The uniform that she showed us is meant to support one extended arm, at the very least. The black line that you see on the (her) left side of the top is a support lining, hence the need for extra stitching as support for that area of the body. There are only a few sports with the need for that kind of equipment, archery being one of them. The goggles are used by archers to block the glare of the sun. Not to mention the mental concentration one would need to compete in that sport.

Given what we have been shown, that is my pick so far. I'm not saying that I am right, I'm just stating my reasons why I picked that particular one.

I was leaning towards some form of martial arts, but the goggles would not be required for that sport. Unless they were just being used as a blindfold, like the others had... but why goggles?

I think the goggles were just a blindfold for her.

Could she be from Atlantis????

I would tend to agree with you on that, but again why goggles? Why not just use a regular blindfold like everybody else? I think the goggles have something to do with what she does, why else would they show it?

You could be right, but I just have so many questions, as we all do. Smile

Bubbleboy,

The clothes could simply be workout clothes not directly related to a particular event. The goggles are certainly not any that I have seen used by archers. She said herself they made it difficult to see, so I think that would speak against being any type of devide to facilitate accuracy of sight.

I've seen lots of girls at the gym with outfits similar to this. They look nice, girls like them, but not designed to be functional for a particular sport.

The outfit would be a good fit (At least from out modern media idea of what Atlanteans would wear). Where's SixSidedSquare when you need him? (And the rest of the southies, for that matter).
