I *do* like the nasty character of Eli Hunt, he's very very hard to convince, just like me Smile. Anyway, I see some people wanting to test his language knowledge. Considering that he's some kind of English-Historian there's a good chance he knows another not-so-common language, and perhaps he will take the conversation with him a bit more seriously.
I vote for Esperanto communication! A few minutes ago I sent him a message requesting (politely) the translation of the greek texts that appear in his two videos, and some additional information. I wanted to test his language-culture too, so I used Latin (hey, the perfect excuse to practice it). Something tells me that he won't understand it Wink, but... Who knows?

Again: Try esperanto, or greek, we are already sure that he knows greek (he says something about translating greek "on the fly" in one of his videos).

EDIT: OK, it was "on the spot".

Dangit, that was more or less what I was going to try, with some cozying up to him first.

What we do glean from it is that other people think it's some sort of treasure (I very highly doubt it).

I'm very tempted to try fabricating some pottery shards to get his attention.

For the record, my current plan for myself is to not mention the ring at all until he does. I'm going to try and milk him for info about the lost game and the gamekeepers.

Eli

I also contacted Hunt and did not mention the ring at all. I just told him I was interested in helping him with his research. I did not think about mentioning the fact that I am a history teacher at the time I contacted him. If he contacts me perhaps I will mention it.

Diego's latest video transcript
Diego - ejercicios

The original spanish transcript.

Quote:

Mythopoeia696.

vamos a ver que sale, adios.

and the translation:

Quote:
Hi, how are you?

I've been practicing a litle bit of juggling and also doing exercises.

Ariadne told us to do exercises in a good way that perhaps will acivate our memory.

So what I do are exercises of agility, I draw these stations on the floor, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and the idea is to cover them fastly while creating som type of pattern, for example the star pattern is to go from 1, to 3, to 5, to 2 and 4 and creating an obvious star.

The theme do do exercise recommended to us by Ariadne is very good because it makes me feel as myself, so when I excercise is like if a return to be my true self, and the best is that it works, because, Yesterday after a doing the agility excersises for a long time suddenly a word appeared on my mind, so I didn't have to think it, apparently I knew it...Mythopoeia696. I'm going to write it for you because probably you can't understand it.

What I don't know, is what it has to do with the lost ring, or with us waking up in a labyrinth, but well, if we are going to want to find out, we are going to have to continue doing exercises.

The word is Mythopoeia696... Mythopoeia696.

Lets see what happens, good bye.

Hope this helps...

I was following-up on the treasure in Kefalonia story and am ashamed to admit that I'm having trouble verifying this story. I have found the discovery mentioned on three different sites, all referencing the Associated Press. Any way to verify the event? The era matches the time in Eli's story, but the tomb is described differently.

Other sites are:
http://archaeoblog.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines3231.html

ETA: And what's the general feeling on the "names" the amnesiacs are remembering? It's almost like they're part of a larger collection some... body has acquired and are being... activated? transported in time? at their assigned times (every 4 years).

Maybe imprtant, maybe simply not

Maybe somebody already mentioned this, maybe I'm just paranoid but what I noticed while reading and listening to Markus messages is

he sometimes uses "wrong" words - wrong not in the meaning of totaly wrong, but a word describing the same but not commonly used in german, like if you'd say high but in the meaning of tall. This happened several times, but not too often. Though his talking is 100% fluent without any accent (can't even say from which part he could come, though austria or switzerland are out of the context due to his non existant accent Smile )

Did anybody notice something like that with the other 5?

And off topic now, thanks for the welcome and congrats to everybody for the great work so far

(And I guess this here will consume a lot of my working time in the next week)

No problem. Smile

Pretty good, but should be: Kai, mi havas intereson pri la Olimpiaj Ludoj en 1920. Kion vi scias pri tio?

You could also add Antaŭdankon ("thanks in advance") or Respekteme/Amike salutas ("with respectful/friendly greetings" -- choose one of "respekteme" or "amike", obviously).

Just a note -- you'll probably get a quicker response by posting requests for translations to/from Esperanto to the group at TrovuLaRingonPerditan.com.

Bonan ŝancon!

I had a chat with Noriko and pointed out the lost games website. (Thanx, Ouroboros for informing her about the meaning of sophrosune Smile). [And sorry for interrupting your chat]

Here a short part of our chat about Sophrosune (translation is bold)
Ehm, "ich" means "me" (I use German gmail version - kosmopolitism rulez Smile)

Quote:
(I've just seen your video)
(It's great, you recall things)
(No, well, it was just the one, I could recall. For this I run)
(But this is a beginning)
。。 (Yes, if I could remain more things from now... But why have I recalled that Greek word? Although I cannot even recall my own name...)
(You meen Sophrosune?)
[...]
(It means "Self-control", isnt it?) [Thanx, Ouroboros Wink]
(And "temperance")
Nanashino: はい。(Yes)
(You know, I'd met this word once more time)
Ich: このホームページで (on this homepage)
http://www.thelostgames.com/home.html
(I've researched about Olympic)
この変なページ見つけてしまった (and found this weird site)
^^
Nanashino: あああ。。。 。(T_T) (Aa... Complete in English...)
Ich: いえいえ、字幕もありますよ (well, it's with subtitles)
(Oh! Ah, do you mean that podcast? I've seen already that one. I think, it was very interesting. But truly, I haven't understood much)
(I thought, it's interesting, why have I recalled only one Greek word? and that blindfold sport seems to be also interesting)
(Have I done that one? No, I doubt. I think not... Although I couldn't really understand that story)
。。(Yes, it's a little bit difficult)
Nanashino: でも、本当に歴史に隠された部分があるなら、ハントさんに頑張って欲しいね^^ (But I'd be glad to follow the researches of Mr. Hunt, to find out that hidden part of history)
(Yes, I can understand it. But you know, although that homepage contains only one podcast...)
Nanashino: もうひとつ?(Is there one more?)
Ich: はい (Yes)
@_@ (But you know, without subititles I wont understand anything)
Ich: あの、日本語で字幕がまだ無いけど (well, since there aren't Japanese subtitles yet, but...)
http://dotsub.com/home/user/index.php?target=5916
って
このヴィデオで (here is this video)
^^ (Yes, I'm waiting for Japanese subtitles)
(OK, btw, I've to go to say "Hallo" to Ouro san)

I suppose, we are now too quick for the characters. The video hosting seems to be META-level (not existent for our heroes), so I suppose, the real delevopements will begin with the second podcast, as it'll be uploaded at thesecretgames.com. Than our characters will notice also that Greek words and connections between each other.

Greek words

Hi everone,

I am new at this, but as it so happens i am Greek so i can help in any translation of the Greek words.

I noticed that the actual meaning of the words describing the lost game in the first podcast on eli's page mean "the game of truth" and not "the most important game". I hope this helps

It's very early in the morning and I've been woken up by a false fire alarm. Because I'm a junkie like that, I've checked my email before trying to get back to bed and found I had two emails.

One is from Lucie, where she thanks me for letting her know about Mike Hunt's videos. She mentions that she almost forgot about the blindfold she was wearing when she woke up and promises to upload pictures once her blog on findthelostring.com is up. (She's been emailing with Ariadne.) She also points me towards a second YouTube video she created telling more about what happened to her. You can view it below this untranslated copy of her email to me.

Quote:

I will have a translated version up in my GoogleDocs later today when I'm more awake. Smile Here's her video.

YouTube: Link

The other email was from Noriko saying that she was glad to hear from me and that she didn't understand what Markus was saying because she doesn't speak German.

I may wait until I am more coherent to respond to them.

Back to bed.

Hello Red!

Yes I had a vision of funny the other day, I saw a word ... Finally, I had difficulty explaining, you saw my video? I explain the how it went http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh8hw8sSciA will see if you like it and tell me what you think? You know something about that word, you? You know what that means? But on the other hand it seems to me that it was Chariton696 not chanilon ... I do not know I may be mistaken, but it seemed to me to see "chariton" ...
If you have an idea why I saw that word, say to me ... I saw the video of Eli Hunt and I thought him to try to write more about what you think?

Thanks for your help.

I'm missing the link to why you think they are agonothetai? Sure, there were 6 in the video, but other sources indicate that it wasn't a fixed number of 6. Additionally, the attributes listed are for the athletes, and those are the words that are being remembered.
