Ok I'm not exactly sure about this, but I'd figure I'd post it here, since I received it a few minutes after I registered, but I don't know if it is connected in any way.

It really doesn't sound like it, only because the first email came from lglabs.net. I would think they'd keep sending from that domain.

Then again, you never know.

I think the LGL site would, even at this early stage, have something indicating Cyberdyne if the LAI (Learning Artificial Intelligence) is some kind of precursor to Skynet. Although I suppose, if you go by the SCC, it could be a different company that develops it. (Wish I hadn't missed the last couple weeks of episodes. That show actually turned out to be pretty good.)

Grrr. I hate it when you get the lead and then they leave you high and dry immediately.

Thank you for your interest in Looking Glass Laboratories.

Due to internal technical difficulties, the site launch has been postponed for a few days until our Quality Assurance Department can thoroughly go through the site and ensure everything is working as it should be.

Once it passes our internal QA, we will notify the mailing list and issue a press release announcing the launch of the site.

Did they send that because I complained?

Uh, hey! LGLabs! I won't be happy until I get an HDTV, surround sound system, PS3, a Red Rider BB Gun, a pony, and a unicorn ... no no wait. A unicorn pony! yes!

Ok? go!

I got a flyer in the mail today. Note that that isn't really an envelope; it's the flyer folded and taped in such a fashion as to resemble one.

I know it has been mentioned already by me and Lunsford, but I think we are overlooking this phrase found in the source code of the lglabs.net site.

Quote:
'Omne ignotum pro magnifico'

Lunsford already wrote the meaning, but it is also a quote from Sherlock Holmes in "The Redheaded League".
Quote:

"I begin to think, Watson," said Holmes, "that I make a mistake in explaining. 'Omne ignotum pro magnifico,' you know, and my poor little reputation, such as it is, will suffer shipwreck if I am so candid."

Something about it is just bugging me.

EDIT: Also, looking at the source, in the meta tags, I noticed the words "software" and "computers".. Googling these terms along with "Boldly going where angels fear to tread" leads me to THIS GAME.

Probably coincidence.

Looks like registration to become a beta tester is up on the site now. As well as other stuff.

I'm currently reading through all the team blogs and growing a bit concerned towards what our interaction with the LAI will result in. I'm very eager for this to start and see how it turns out.

Hi all...

Well, I was reading a bit of the blogs and About Us section....
(I don't have time right now to read everything yet...)

Anyhoo.. Many many references are jumping out at me..

might I suggest you all, (me included).. go re-watch the movie War Games, from 1983. http://imdb.com/title/tt0086567/

a couple of the references that popped out at me were..

Joshua - the name of the LAIP.. Also Joshua is the name of the Computer in the movie.

Dr. Falken - The creator of the computer in War Games.

I am sure there are many more, but I am running late for work. lol

If you have registered to be a beta tester check your email for login info. There is not much you can do right except ask Joshua a question or leave him a comment.
