I know it has been mentioned already by me and Lunsford, but I think we are overlooking this phrase found in the source code of the lglabs.net site.
Quote:
'Omne ignotum pro magnifico'
Lunsford already wrote the meaning, but it is also a quote from Sherlock Holmes in "The Redheaded League".
Quote:
"I begin to think, Watson," said Holmes, "that I make a mistake in explaining. 'Omne ignotum pro magnifico,' you know, and my poor little reputation, such as it is, will suffer shipwreck if I am so candid."
Something about it is just bugging me.
EDIT: Also, looking at the source, in the meta tags, I noticed the words "software" and "computers".. Googling these terms along with "Boldly going where angels fear to tread" leads me to THIS GAME .
Probably coincidence.

I'm currently reading through all the team blogs and growing a bit concerned towards what our interaction with the LAI will result in. I'm very eager for this to start and see how it turns out.

Hi all...
Well, I was reading a bit of the blogs and About Us section....
(I don't have time right now to read everything yet...)
Anyhoo.. Many many references are jumping out at me..
might I suggest you all, (me included).. go re-watch the movie War Games, from 1983. http://imdb.com/title/tt0086567/
a couple of the references that popped out at me were..
Joshua - the name of the LAIP.. Also Joshua is the name of the Computer in the movie.
Dr. Falken - The creator of the computer in War Games.
I am sure there are many more, but I am running late for work. lol

If you have registered to be a beta tester check your email for login info. There is not much you can do right except ask Joshua a question or leave him a comment.

Post mark Miami ... LGLabs is in FL ... I wonder if this is the same PM that ran Adam Worsley. If so .... well, we certainly won't be lacking in entertainment.
Edit : oh no. Check the "Our Team" section. Catherine Belmont is "the queen of hearts". Dr. Benjamin Falken is "the mad hatter". etc etc
I guess we know in part where they're going with this now.

The WarGames connection hit me as well, particularly with this "Joshua" being a computer that learns for itself etc., just like the WOPR in the film.
The founder of LGL died aged 49 "of natural causes". His wife died the following year, and it's implied that they were of a similar age, both being students at the same time. Does that seem slightly suspicious to anyone else? Just throwing balloons into the wind at this stage of course...

The nicknames of our key personnel originally started as interoffice chatter. We're not sure who came up with the final list (although we're definitely sure that Jaquelin insisted on being Alice, and lobbied quite vigorously for the title), nor do we know who posted the names to the website for use in our personal blogs. But, in order to maintain the atmosphere that is best for the growth of our flagship product, we decided to accept the names in good humor.
That's interesting, they don't know who's put the Alice in Wonderland names on their website? Rather strange to not know something like that, or at least to not ask who did it.
Looks like Saturday is when it's all going to kick off, eh?

Good call Sylvia, mine was in my spam folder. I'm logged into the beta area now, having an explore.
I just tried to ask Joshua a question, but it told me that I already have a question pending, which I don't. Hmm.

When did you register? I'd say I did only about an hour or so ago and no email (spam folder or otherwise).

How long did it take you guys to get the email after registration? I registered, but haven't received an email yet either. Not in my junk folder or anything.

My email came in about ten minutes after I registered for the Beta thingy.
Ivan seems to be an unsual choice for the job. The others all have degrees related to their job, whereas Ivan's degree is in music. Whether that's in any way relevant, I don't know.
