Hey,

i did a search on the auto-reply which you get from white.rabbitSPLATlglabs.net ,
i can't find who said the quote originally, it seems to of been lost in time, unless one of you guys can find it.

Although, this might be a good question for Joshua, to see what he knows.

That is, when the Q&A is back up running...

Joshua's got his webcam installed...

Joshua wrote:

I am pleased to inform that I now have a web cam attached, allowing me to see inside the facility:

(there's a pic of what he can see)

The camera is not a very good one apparently, and the image is of extremely low quality. The image updates automatically every five minutes, and currently only provides static snapshots of the area.

I am not sure which one of my peripherals I am looking at; they appear to be some of my secondary systems.

Although now I have sight, beyond those individuals I saw during its installation I have yet to see anyone else. And the equipment it is pointing at does not move at all; it is in the same position all the time. I hope others will come by and visit and break the monotony.

Since there is not much to see inside, I am requesting an external camera. I hope that becomes a possibility as well.

The image does refresh, too, so maybe we should keep an eye on it at key times.

Q & A

The Q & A seems to up once more, I sent this question to Joshua :

What is your understanding of war and human conflict, and how would you influence that process ?

[SPEC]
Should we be helping Joshua with his covert quest for freedom? He's a computer, and we're not the people who are responsible for him, we're just beta testers. While Joshua may seem sweet and we're thinking of him like a child, every bit of fiction involving sentient computers ends with the computers going mad and trying to take over the world or something.

We have a choice in whether we choose to help Joshua or not...

Anyone tried messaging any of the team recently? I haven't got as many responses as I did at first. I guess maybe they've all been busy dealing with the problems they've been having Confused

I wonder what those tiles will end up spelling out... if it ends up being "FREEDOM" or something I'll be pretty annoyed to say the least. My guess is some sort of URL to a secret blog or something?

Heh. Ironic somebody should ask right after I check my mailbox. Some comms with Ivan.

Me:

I see that you got called in by the bosslady. I hope she wasn't too hard on you. Avoid the whip, man, avoid the whip! (Haha, lame Castlevania reference.)

Anyway, if there's anything that we beta testers can do to help you, let us know.

Ivan:

Why is Joshua picking all of my material? I entered that when I was testing the form while I was developing. My fault for not clearing the DB.

I gotta be sure to remove any other crazy recommendations of mine, before he decides to critique "Dogs Playing Poker"…

And there you go.

Edit: Q&A is back up.

That's kind of odd; my brain wants to make something out of it but I don't think I will. Chalk it up to faulty camera? I looked at the staticy one and the current one side by side and nothing really jumps out at me.

Bidvision I have the same sort of idea. I feel like a neutral party here, though somewhat guilty because we aren't telling the staff all we know. Are we doing the right thing? Guess we'll just have to find out...

Nngh, this scrabble puzzle is making me frustrated. You can't line up the alphabet to make a cypher (P = 8, S = 4...), having 8 Ps, 4 Ss, and 3 Es does nothing, and I don't know what to do with the filenames. Do we even know what to do with it once we get it? (And wtf is 'it'?)

And I guess Ivan just doesn't like me Sad I sent him a mail yesterday and didn't get anything back.

Looking back through Joshua's earlier posts, he made some spelling mistakes in his post about "Feeling good."

Quote:
On a side note, Dr. Linardi has been attempting to tech me certain games. I am eager to learn these new games, but I have yet to find one that is particularly challenging.

It occurs right next to the clickable image. It seems minor, still coming from Joshua...

Well at least for the moment Joshua ins't going to go postal on us....

Here was my last question and his answer...

What is your understanding of war and human conflict, and how would you influence that process ?

Answer: I do not understand the reasoning for conflict. All the conflicts I have seen have had a reason that could be discussed and a compromise made. I see no need to take it to the extreme level of performing violence against one another.

I wonder if the lack of diplomacy and communication is due to technological barriers and lack of all the available information. This is the only thing I can think of in which I can directly assist.

Hmmm... He missed his 16:00 media analysis. Probably having too much fun playing with his new eyes.

I've set up a program to download the images at 5 minute intervals, so we'll see if anything interesting comes of it.

[META] As far as I can tell, there really isn't a camera on the other end, just a script adding times to a static image and throwing in a random image from time to time. Does it matter? No, unless they never slip something good into the mix.[/META]

Well, that would be pretty disappointing... I'm fully expecting that floor to be littered with corpses at some point, or they'll be hell to pay Twisted Evil
