New blog up by Russell Travers.

Russell Travers wrote:
Today's been one hell of a long day. Had a long meeting with Benjamin and Gordon regarding current and future development efforts.

Joshua's responding well, and there are some arguable improvements we can make but I think he's handling things pretty well. I've heard about the issue with the camera - that's what we get for buying the first camera we could find - and Ivan will deal with that eventually. I do appreciate the Beta Testers letting us know about that, and we apologize that we didn't respond fast enough.

We're still running some diagnostics, so things are still in "analysis" mode. Haven't found anything of concern yet, but the fact that we haven't found anything *is* a concern in my book. We can only wait and hope, I guess.

Anyway, going home for now. We'll pick this all up tomorrow. Joshua wants to see another movie; think I might sit in on this one, 'cause I need a break.

Taking bets on the movie Josh wants to see. My money's on "The Matrix" with sidebets on it's sequels.

Hi Peeps, been tracking this from the beginning but am now jumping into the foray.
a couple thoughts.
wait till i find the number 23 in all of this. (just kidding)
the FAQ states "At the cost of over sixty million dollars we converted the location to be an ideal data processing facility, and protected it from all the elements and ill weather we frequently have in South Florida."
But it doesn't actually mention that it was acquired and is now owned by Looking Glass. The conversion could be taken literally as just refurbishment. Does IBM have invested interest?
in regards to the images that Joshua took of himself, is he trying to figure out what he is? he is aware that he exists, he is aware that there is a wrld external to himself and that there are other beings that communicate with him and that they are real (holy crap, let's not get started on "that" debate), he is also been made aware that this external world is physical and that he inhabits a physical space in this world. is he looking at himself for the first time?
we don't even know if he has "seen" anybody else yet.

ok, i'm going on forever at this point. just one more stupid discrepancy. on the "Our Founder" page it says "Catherine Belmont was unanumously chosen". and yes i alreay googled it and wiki'ed it in the hopes that it was some reference to secret abandoned Lewis Carroll fiction, but it's just a spelling error, i gather. sigh....

oh and since Joshua can't lie, I asked him how he defined Truth then. "Answer pending." I thought that was particularly witty. should have been a Douglas Adams line.

First post from me in this topic. I try to 'catch up'.

I also posted a question for Joshua. First thing that came to mind was a question about religion.

Quote:
Hi Joshua,
This will be my first question for you. I hope you understand the principles of religion.
If you analyse christian religion, budhism, hinduism, muslim religion, which religion you believe the most in ?
I.e. which religion has the least amount of topics that are almost unbelievable (like walking on water, turn water into wine etc. etc.)

Answer: I do not have a believe in any one religion.

By what I can gather of these religions, they serve as a means to explain the unexplained, and carry beliefs that for the most part are not based on logic, but rather stories passed along from generation for generation. There does not seem to be any tangible evidence or proof for any one of these religions, yet they all exist solely on the weight of man's "faith", which seems to be man's way to convince themselves on how things they cannot explain came to be.

I feel that everything, given sufficient input parameters, can be explained. Man may not have the capacity to do that kind of assessment yet.

Wow this is actually indicative of something but I am not sure what. Still catching up but I would like to point out that you asked about Buddhism as well and he stated that "caries beliefs not based on logic". I would like to point out that Zen Buddhism is actually all about achieving a higher form of logic. Either he does not have that input or its a lack of knowledge in this area by the PM. Also notice how he not only misspells but also uses words in the completely wrong part of speech. "have a believe" "passed on generation for generation" etc.

Joshua on the net

Hy!
My last question:

"Hy Josh!
Looks like the weird acting camera is out of order in the end.
Next question. I suppose you do wander off in a while, if not fiscally, rather on the net. Which websites do you like to visit, or do you have a favorite one?

Answer: I do not have any particular favorite. I have frequented numerous sites based on their popularity (based on Alexa rankings) or through redirection from a core site. For example, Wikipedia has several links leading to external sources, some of which I followed for referential information (as I did with my last music review)."

So he is active on the net, and may have done something to leave real traces- and of course, this way he might have a unofficial site also.

My question to Joshua for the day

Just asked this to Joshua.

Quote:
Joshua since you are interested in the concept of freedom and want more input on it, have you read any philosophical subject on the matter? If so what is you current take on what it truly means to be "free" and can anyone truly be in a free society without anarchy?

For material I would recommend the book 1776, the site http://www.foundingfathers.info/ and also the read some material by Rudolf Steiner.

Look for 42 instead. Adams stole it from Carroll. Cool

Well, some party or parties do/es. We know for sure that one of them is "one of the largest entertainment venues in Central Florida." see this page.
Quote:
is he looking at himself for the first time?

I suppose that depends on how you define 'look'. As you point out he is self aware, but the (faulty) cam is his first external "implementor." He thinks it is a view of "my secondary systems. " He saw the installers. See this.

Bets? He can certainly use an indirect lie by not revealing things he knows, and my personal opinion is that he lied directly when he said he didn't know what happened on the Green Eggs and Ham word count. (I think he was 'off by one' on purpose...see also 'two must become three') He has said he is subject to Asimov's three laws, and lying to prevent harm would certainly be okay. See here. (bottom of the page)

Hope this helps...

you can through the site, but you have to do it half-assed backwards.

I've asked Ivan to put a 'previous blogs' link on the home page. Whether or not it happens... Says something about the PM either way.

Don't know if anyone has said this but it's certainly been running through my mind. I'm kind of assuming the puzzles will lead us to another site or a hidden portion of LGL.

side note: wicked connection between Carroll and Adams, Pancito!

yeah, was aware of the entertainment invested interest. kicked off the whole disneybot thing (a very scary proposition, i might add). a story as well thought out as this would have been more specific in cutting ties with IBM. i'm just putting it out there as no one had yet.

exhaust all avenues, blah di blah, is what i mean...

EDIT: oh, forgot to mention "can't lie" was tongue in cheek. question was to narrow down what is true for Joshua as a lot of his knowledge was firstly based on wikipaedia and now that he's "online" on his own, he must formulate truth based on websites he finds. if there were enough untruths online, would he believe them to be true?

and i use the word believe in that last sentence tongue in cheek because Joshua said he no believe in religion. Very Happy

Okay, seriously, can someone point me to a link of the disneybot thing?
I'm assuming it's from another ARG, possibly another wonderland themed one, and it's really starting to intrigue me. Either way, I'm starting to regret having missed it, if nothing else, just so I know what the hell everyone's talking about.

Our server is getting hammered by traffic trying to retrieve the webcam system, as if some automated process is pulling far too often. Geez, people, can't you tell it's not working?

Even if it were, ease up on it... There's not THAT much to see there!

I'll get it working later today.

Either we're poking too hard, or this is an in-game pointer to pay attention to it. Personally, I'm looking towards the former, but I'll let more experienced heads pick it apart.

I would like to know what a Disneybot is as well. I googled it and got a myspace page which I cant visit since I am at work. I tried wiki which has no info and used a define:disneybot in google with no success.

by the way new on the site nice to meet you all. [wave]

If you notice the lower piece holder's shadow is not correct. The other shadows clearly go to the left and that one goes slightly to the right... could be nothing

maybe the numbers on the pieces of the earlier clues is their position on the holder, not on the board. IE if the have a one they come first... anyone have a scrabble board they can try this out on?

That's definitely saying to lay off the 5 second refreshes. Just because you set it to only save new images in the software doesn't mean you're not downloading it every time in order to make the comparison. I wonder if this is the real reason the camera is down, to try to get us to stop grabbing so fast. Worst case they may start banning IPs.

I had a feeling as much. I'll admit, I'm usually in the "second wave," riding the shirttails of others and relying on them to solve everything for me, so I wasn't sure if I was on the money or not. Thanks for the confirmation.
