Yep, did that this morning around 9am EST. No replies as of yet. I had it sent to a gmail account and that's usually pretty speedy. I guess I could try reregistering.
Edit : Ok, that won't work. It says email address already in use.

Anybody asked Joshua Bot a question yet?
EDIT: He's not online, but since you can only pose 1 question every 24 hours, I went ahead and asked "How can I help you Joshua?"

JoshuaBot isn't available, but the Q&A thing is up and running. My question is in a post on page 4 of this thread. Here's the answer (and one I should've seen coming, lol):
Joshua wrote:
I do not know about the current political situation in the United States. I have only been online for 24 hours and 13 minutes. Also, my access to the Internet is currently restricted; I do not know why. So I have been unable to formulate an opinion.

I got an answer from Joshua too
Quote:
Are you self-aware, Joshua?
Answer: That is up to interpretation. I think I am, but my implementors do not think that I have reached full awareness. They seek to teach me as much as possible in the hopes that I can become more than I am.

Joshua is a child at this point, so I'm going to ask something more like you would ask a child.

He doesn't actually sound like a child, at least that's what I'm getting from the way he writes and responds to these questions. Although I suppose that could just be from being a computer and likely having language tools at his disposal from day one, whereas human children have to learn all that stuff.

Answer: I seek to learn from humans through interaction with them. How do we go about doing that?

Can someone ask what the criteria for acceptance as a beta tester is?

Uber, I think this Ivan blog is for you:

Can't win them all, I guess.
Well, since this is unfortunately my responsibility, I guess I have to deal with it... If you haven't received the email, for now you can contact me directly at izeloffSPLAT lglabs.net and I will provide you your login information. That'll have to do for now until we can implement a "forgot my password" option on the site (which will take a day or two).
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, so far Joshua is behaving like what they say he is, namely a pretty darned good Artificial Intelligence computer. It wants to learn by interacting with us human types.
Saturday is given as the day when something might happen:

I wonder what taking over for itself entails?

My Q&A
Quote:
Do you have a favorite story that you've read?
Answer: I have not had the opportunity to read stories at length.
The only thing I have heard so far is Russell sang me a song named "Daisy". It seemed rather pointless, and I did not quite understand the song's meaning in the first place, but he seemed very pleased about being able to teach me it. I think it must have some sort of personal meaning to him.
I was waiting tempted to ask about a song instead of a story but I had a hunch I'd get this 2001 reference. Got it anyway

Cool, I'll give that a go. I was just starting to wonder if I was too old to play or something.

Taking over for itself likely means self-maintenance, self-repair, and lesser "parental supervision" as it were. I say lesser because I highly doubt they won't be monitoring him, but they will no longer be directly involved in Joshua's upkeep, at least not in the programming sense.

So, the way it sounds is that Joshua is going to be programming himself, learning stuff himself, and maintaining himself.
Joshua lives in a big, super-secure building that's not in the same place as the corporate office where all the people work.
If Joshua decides it wants to do bad things, how's anyone going to stop it?

You've just described the foundation of most "hostile AI" stories in science fiction, Bidvision. Methinks that may be part of the point.
