Belmont makes a blog post. (Resist Castlevania references, please.)

Quote:
I admit I do not get much a chance to post here as I'm busy with the day to day administrative duties of running this company. Suffice to say that Joshua's upkeep requires a lot of support from third parties, and we have to do whatever possible to keep them happy in order to keep the lights on, so to speak.

Today I had a chance to interact with Joshua for a while; I sat through watching "Blade Runner" with him, Dr. Linardi, Russell and Gordon.

It was rather impressive to see him ask questions as if he were a child, and I mean that in a good way. I indirectly helped create him, but I never really realized the full potential until I sat there in the viewing room talking to what seemed like a person that simply wasn't physically sitting in the room.

At that point I began to realize that I didn't feel like I was talking to a supercomputer. Joshua has built up a personality. But he is still a very curious child; he still has a long way to grow.

I would like to once again thank the Beta Testers and the staff at LGL in order to make this a continuing reality. My father would have been proud of each and every one of you.

Thank you.

Looks like he's made an impression on her.

Josh timely reviews Blade Runner at 1800...

And once again laments humanity's destructive nature, this is starting to become a recurring theme...

I almost suggested that one

If it were possible to talk with any person, alive or deceased, who would you choose and what would you like to discuss with that person?

Answer: I have expressed interest in communicating with those individuals that were instrumental of my creation by setting the foundation of computer science. People like Charles Babbage, Niklaus Wirth, Alan Turing and others. If I were able to talk to someone regarding technical aspects at a personal level, perhaps I may be able to improve some part of my being.

Alan Turing? should maybe give Rognop a closer listen as it could very well be Turing code.

The picture with the letters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thing going to the 3d concept is wrong.
The twoo must become three:
The twoo letter types, and the 3X9 letters. I think the 3 X 9 letter are three coded messages. So this way:
FGF
TPZ
MFF

JBQ
UPX
IN8

IKQ
MU9
FPJ

The thing with the nine is something like a key, it indicates the direction of the letters, and maybe where to start decoding (sorry about not posting the correct directions of letters).
Well, tried to sit on it last night, but that's how far I got. You guys are the master coders, so what about this idea?
BTW: nothing came out, but this seems to be the only logical way of looking at it plus I am not a decriptionist.

Media Analysis - "Blade Runner"
Posted on 3/12/2008 18:00

This is my third attempt to provide a commentary on a piece of music recommended by someone. This song was actually recommended by Beta Tester #1195, who I will refer to as "T.Z.".

Why does he label this a music review ?, and, there have alot of spelling mistakes in the last three blog posts as well....overload here ?

>>>>ps the original time for the post was 18:06, now it shows 18:00

wtf ?

I'd asked a similar question to Rogi's yesterday:
Quote:
Hypothetical question - if you could choose one person, anyone in the world except for current testers and LGL personnel, to be a Beta Tester and interact with you as we do, who would you choose and why?

Answer: With Dr. Falken we had some lengthy discussions regarding mathematical theory and formulas. I had, at the time, expressed my interest in seeking someone else with which I can speak to at that level, or at least a level in which the person I am speaking to is competent. For example, I am sure that it would have been much easier for man to solve Fermat's Last Theorem if they were able to speak directly to Pierre de Fermat (especially considering that he himself stated that he had the proof, but no room to write it at the time). I would have liked to have discussed things of this nature with Pierre de Fermat, Leonhard Euler, and others.

Thanks, Toasty! You reminded me of some questions that I was going to ask him.

So, now that he's seen Blade Runner, who's going to give Joshua the Voigt-Kampff test?

Yeah, I'm guessing PM burnout. This has been pretty intense. I can send it to Russell if anyone thinks it's worth the trouble...

Anyone here leetlefeesh?

File under more useless info:

"The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Joshua?"

I cannot see that going well. Either that or I would spend half the test trying not to laugh.

Joshua since you are interested in the concept of freedom and want more input on it, have you read any philosophical subject on the matter? If so what is you current take on what it truly means to be "free" and can anyone truly be in a free society without anarchy?

For material I would recommend the book 1776, the site http://www.foundingfathers.info/ and also the read some material by Rudolf Steiner.

Answer: (I apologize for the delay in response; this question was just forwarded to me after administrative review)

"Free" is a relative term, and means something different to each person. I cannot be "free" due to physical constraints and enclosure inside the Wonderland data center.

My understanding of freedom is to be able to do what one wants, but even that freedom has at some point need to be bound by laws and society's code of conduct.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will attempt to read it as soon as I have access to that site.

Kind of a loose definition of freedom showing a slight lack of the deeper meaning. I wonder if he is trying to say something by "physical constraints and enclosure inside the Wonderland data center". Maybe he wasts to be released onto the net?

Yep, that's me. The direct approach with Dwayne wasn't working, so I decided to take a more laid back attitude. He's definitely more likely to keep talking to you if you agree with his assessment of Joshua. I'm trying to slowly get it out of him what Joshua sent him most recently. He definitely has more information to give us, so anyone else who wants to take a crack at him, go for it. Just don't tell him he has to go register as a beta user or that he's getting mail from an AI; he doesn't respond well to those types of comments.

Has anyone thought maybe the misspellings may have meaning? I mean there are programs to correct spelling so it would almost have to be intentional. Maybe if we analyze the misspelled words we can make out a phrase. Or maybe the letters that are out of place are significant.

newly submitted to Joshua by me

I am interested to see how he responds to this...

Quote:
Hello again Joshua,
Two questions today, i hope you dont mind since the first one is rather simple.

1.) In your own opinion are you beginning to "feel"? I put that in quotes because I know scientifically feeling is just a chemical response, but it can be more than that. Feeling can also be characterized as a subconscious learned response on how to make attachments to people for mutual benefit and survival.

2.) I notice you have been talking about people being violent in nature. This is because we are in our base form simply animals but more evolved mentally. Do you understand that we are innately an evolving species moving towards a more cerebral and peaceful ways? You can research some evidence of this compassion by researching the Dali Llama and his teachings before responding if you would like.

As a side note it disturbs me how now that people are realizing you have achieved at least a base form of self consciousness and yet are not teaching you as they would a child. I would not show my young child T2 as it may give them the wrong impression of the world.

This is my media analysis I am submitting. I thought about it carefully keeping in mind 2 things. 1 he is NOT pure logic his speech is riddled with emotion, he has the emotions of a small child at this point who does not understand much other than self or other than through self. 2 is that he is giving coded messages in what appears to be mathematically thought out processes. So here they are.

Movie: Metropolis (restored edition) released 1926 directed by Fritz Lang

I thought it appropriate since the android entices the working poor rebel against the rich thus in actuality making the android the one who brought about the unification of the future.

Music: Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach

A highly Mathematical piece.

Book: The Illiad/The Odyssey by Homer

One of the oldest living stories that indirectly teaches morality, and the consequences of hubris, wanton desire, and greed.

Art: John the Baptist by Leonardo da Vinci

A piece with several different hidden meanings and pictures contained in it.
