Does anyone else think it's too late for them to revive the ARG? There were hoards of people here in the weeks leading up to and immediately after the movie, but now the large majority of people have left or no longer post. It's been a month and a half since the movie and we've gotten nothing at all. Even if they revive it now, I think they're never going to get anywhere near the following they had. Does anyone else agree?

I bet the majority of people who don't post anymore still check the boards from time to time. Old habits die hard.

^^^ very true....
but I have a feeling that the next movie [xcrossing fingersx] will come w/ a few new sites... and maybe a couple old ones... T.I.D.O. Wave might be dropped, probably replaced by a faux-government site. Maybe something 'comeback-ish' w/ the Whistle Blower... But... we can always be sure that it'll end leaving us w/ more questions instead of answers.

my point is though, that the next movie is a year off still at best. Why would they spend money to run an ARG between now and then when they could just start it back up closer to the release of the second one? All of the people who would pick this one back up would go to the next one regardless and they're really not going to make any more money from this ARG anymore because the movie is out of theatres. From a purely financial standpoint, I can't see how the PMs could justify continuing a game for a movie that is not making them money for the time being.

I still come almost every day, I just don't post because there are no more discussions...
It's funny seeing the same people over and over saying "It's dead, get over it and move on".
Because I still see those same people posting, week after week.

One has to assume that since everything stopped on 1/18/08, they had a promotional budget and a small staff to play out the ARG. Now that the film is out and gone, there is no leftover budget and the PM staff has prolly found a new project to develop. Not sure how they could justify additional fundage to keep a game going for a film that has run its course now, or why they would want to. But I too would like to see them release something to clear up the loose ends they left us with, especially if its gonna be a few years before a sequel if there is to be one.

I haven't posted "Dude, it's dead" but I'll be happy to throw in my 2 cents.
"It's dead, Jim".
If you guys are looking for an ARG that is really an ARG and will have character interaction and lots of great story and clues and stuff, come visit "The Lost Ring" threads (and www.findthelostring.com). This one is guarenteed to run until the Olympics this summer. We're just getting started and IG resources are being opened up daily.

I'm one of the person who always says "It's dead, move on." I keep coming back simply because Unforum is a forum, not a Cloverfield forum, and I like to pop in here and see what's up every now and then.
