If you navigate up from that, you can see a listing of all the photos in that folder: http://alexloyola.com/pics/

There's some weird ones in there, to be sure. One that interest me is this one:

Not sure if that's because it demonstrates injury, which might mean there's been some foul play..!

All those images, except the mystery one, appear normally throughout the archives of alexloyola.com. But you're right, the images may somehow tell of Alex's fate...

I just found something... there's a pic you can see in http://alexloyola.com/pics/ubuntu.png (It's in the blog, don't remember which entry), but you can see the redloyola page behind with testUser written there as user name... maybe that's the user we need? Now to find the password...

EDIT: I was playing around with the password and then thought about looking at the source code in the login page... look what a "curious" string...

That must be something, but I'm a bit tired to try to understand it right now... I hope someone else can decode it.

Competitor found this as well (see the previous page of posts). I definitely think that will be a valid username.

The forums are formatting the "curious" string oddly. It's a piece of commented html. Here it is without the comment tags:

R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G

Good spot, Tenchizard. Interestingly enough, that commented piece of code only appears when "testUser" is used as the username.

The password is likely contained within the hidden code that Tenchizard found:

Once again, for those just joining the fun, here's a summary of everything we know so far, along with current progress:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Important Websites:
redLoyola is a server development company that was founded by Alejandro (aka "Alex") Loyola and Robert Morgan. The company's primary product line is PANAL, a web server platform. redLoyola is also the creator of the Monetizer Network, which is an advertising solution for PANAL-enabled websites. On February 2nd, full ownership of redLoyola was supposedly handed over to Robert (see: http://alexloyola.com/2008/02/).

Rivera Capital Ltd. is a brokering and financial consultation firm rooted in Barcelona, Spain. Sofia Rivera is the company's current president. Alex, a previous employee of Rivera Capital, contacted the firm to fund redLoyola.

Alex disappeared on Februarty 26th, 2008. Up until the 25th, Alex was actively maintaining a website that showed off many of his personal interests, such as Darth Vader, Dr. Pepper. and World of Warcraft. On the website, Alex frequently mentions his wife, Stephanie, and his daughter, Meren. A disturbing image was discovered embedded within the site: http://alexloyola.com/pics/mysteryimage.jpg

The Loyola Scholarship foundation was founded by Alex and Stephanie Loyola to provide funding to students pursuing Culinary Arts and/or Computer Science degrees. The foundation's primary goal is to reduce the financial burden of attending college.

The day before Alex's disappearance, a number of seemingly corrupted images were uploaded to Alex's Flickr page. Within the images, several landmarks can be identified that place the origin of the photos somewhere between Statesboro and Sylvainia, Georgia.

Important Characters:
  • Alejandro ("Alex") Loyola - Co-founder of redLoyola. Currently presumed missing.
  • Stephanie Loyola - Alex's wife.
  • Meren Loyola - Daughter of Stephanie and Alex.
  • Robert Morgan - Business partner of Alex and co-founder of redLoyola.
  • Sofia Rivera - President of Rivera Capital Ltd.

Important Locations:
  • Georgia, Statesboro and Sylvainia
  • Spain, Barcelona

CURRENT PROGRESS:

Tenchizard made the finding that in the image http://www.alexloyola.com/pics/ubuntu.png, a browser window in the background is opened up to redLoyola's site with "testUser" entered into the "username" field. Inputing this name into the login form at http://www.redloyola.com, Tenchizard found a secret snippet of code embedded within the HTML source of the page:

R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G

We are currently working to decipher the above code, as it will likely lead us to a password for entering the redLoyola site.

For the future, please check previous posts to see if something has already been discovered. Thank you. Smile

Well, I've had a few ideas on our encrypted password, but haven't come to any solid conclusions.

R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G

The first thing I noticed about the code is that it mainly consists of R's, G's, and B's, which I at first glance associated with the RGB color scheme. Maybe the decryption is color-related? On that note, the code may be related to the fragmented image files on Alex's Flickr page.

The code, when converted to decimal, binary, and hexadecimal, looks like the following:

Decimal: 82 43 71 45 66 72 82 42 66 45 82 100 66 47 50 43 82 97 71 45 66 45 71 106 66 45 71

Binary: 01010010 00101011 01000111 00101101 01000010 01001000 01010010 00101010 01000010 00101101 01010010 01100100 01000010 00101111 00110010 00101011 01010010 01100001 01000111 00101101 01000010 00101101 01000111 01101010 01000010 00101101 01000111

Hex: 52 2B 47 2D 42 48 52 2A 42 2D 52 64 42 2F 32 2B 52 61 47 2D 42 2D 47 6A 42 2D 47

Treating the code as a direct equation, I tried substituting each of the letters for their decimal equivalents, which produced the following:

R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G
=
82+71-(66*72*82)*66-(82*100*66)/2+(82*97*71)-66-(71*106*66)-71
=
-25920390

Unfortunately, the numerical result was not the elusive password. For now, I'm stumped...

When I saw there could be a difference between capital and non-capital letters, I thought ASCII values could be involved, so I did the equation too, both translating the 2 and not translating it. Nothing seems to work as a password. I even translated back to ASCII symbols using pairs of numbers, but didn't work as a password. The fact the number gets negative didn't help either.
Ah, and the "words" of three letters (HBR, RdB), I did translate them as a big number, not as products: HBR=667282

So yes, I'm stumped too.

I just saw that the group of photos on the flicker site is called "vuelo a e.u.a" which means flight to e.u.a. EUA could stand for "Estados Unidos da América" or what babelfish gives me "United States gives America"(I think it means "of")
EUA could stand for something else like a airport code, but the one I found is Ohonua, Eua Island, Tonga (EUA-Kaufana) and thats a little off the clues we have so far. maybe some one else has a idea of what it could be?

I'm really thinking they're using a non-spanish person to make all those alex' clues, as EUA could translate to USA, but what we really use is EEUU.

Also, there's a link to facebook in alex blog, but I can't seem to find his account. I tried searching for alex, loyola and alejandro, but can't find his profile anywhere.

I couldn't find a Facebook account for Alex, either, but I wonder... In Alex's blog, he links to the Spanish version of Facebook. Do you suppose Facebook sub-divides the groups/networks according to language? So for example, a Japanese group wouldn't be able to find some German-based accounts, or vice versa. We may have to create an account on http://es.facebook.com and retry the search there.
