Spoiler (Rollover to View):
R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G

Perhaps it is a password hash? Then again, last time I've seen a password hash it had no seperators. It could also be algebra:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
R+G-(BHR)*B-(RdB)/2+(RaG)-B-(GjB)-G

But if so, we don't know the values of each...

We've tried converting the letters to their decimal equivalents and evaluating the function that way, but no luck. You're right, we don't know the values for the variables (if it is a function). Sad

What's your experience with hashes? Tell us what you know, maybe it'll spark some ideas.

My emails finally got replied to!

I wrote to the support staff at redLoyola saying I was interested in purchasing a copy of PANAL for my new imaginary company. Here's what they said:
redLoyola wrote:
Unfortunately at this time, our company cannot sell internationally to customers in the United States due to international licensing issues. We are planning on resolving this issue within the next couple of months and will be sure to contact you as soon as this becomes available.

The wording of "cannot sell internationally" intrigues me. If someone wants to claim they're a native of Spain asking to buy a copy of PANAL, we may get some better luck there.

In another email, I inquired about the mentioning of available programming positions at redLoyola. Robert Morgan sent me a reply:
Robert Morgan wrote:
Thanks for your interest in working with us here at redloyola. We'd be glad to accept your resume as a possible candidate for our summer internship program. If you could please send us a copy of your resume in PDF or DOC form, we'll be sure to take a look at it. The summer internship involves working in a fast paced environment with industry professionals in the development of PANAL software. The internship is unpaid and is located in Barcelon, Spain. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our human resources department at jobsSPLATredloyola.com.

I'll reply later tonight with a fake resume. But in the meantime, anyone have any ideas on things I might ask/say/bring up in my email? If anyone wishes to contact Robert Morgan directly, we now have his email address. I'm assuming the address alexSPLATredloyola.com also exists.

http://www.redloyola.com was just updated with the following:

A Message From Robert

First off, I want to thank the Red Loyola community for helping us in our search for Alex. The amount of support we are getting from people all across the world is humbling. Your dedication is inspiring and more helpful than other channels we have attempted to use.

We do have some more information that wasn't originally divulged from our last post. We did know that Alex was traveling to the United States for personal business. His destination was Atlanta, GA. We know this because he contacted us while he was there. Unfortunately, his cell phone doesn't work in the United States, so we quickly lost contact with him. We do know that he was planning a day trip in order to meet up with an associate.

Again, I want to thank you all of your continued support of Red Loyola and its employees, along with Alex's wife and child.

Let's see what websites we can find related to Robert Morgan.

I did create my account on the spanish site, but didn't find him there...

About the password, it doesn't look really like a hash. A hash is basically the result of applying a function to some data so you get an almost unique key, used to store that data somewhere knowing each data will have its own place.

The only fact I think we have right now is the composition of this "equation" we have. You can see the most predominant letters seem to be B G and R (and that seemed to point towards some RGB thing). Maybe we have to ignore this RGB letters and take the other letters?
Actually, I have just seen that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
there's one RGB symbol followed by anyother symbol all trough the equation (I'll put () in the inserted symbols):
R(+)G(-)B(H)R(*)B(-)R(d)B(/)2(+)R(a)G(-)B(-)G(j)B(-)G
If we take them out, it's:
RGBRBRB2RBGBG

any idea?

EDIT: I was about to post this when I read about the update in redloyola. Somewhere, in the behind the curtains blogs you have found, they mentioned the use of facebook AND craiglists. So this morning I looked up in a map what was the place of the last photo in the flicker account. After some looking, I decided it was closer to Atlanta than anything else, so I went to the craiglists for atlanta and searched for ALEX in the personals... I found this:
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/mis/599811951.html
I don't even know if that could be a clue or just a coincidence but now that they tell us Alex' destination was Atlanta, it's getting a bit more interesting...

We also now know Alex has a kid. If we can find that out maybe it could help with a password.

Hmm, maybe it has something to do with colors. After all, any color can be created with Red Green and Yellow.

Coffeebean to the rescue! I've been looking for another Loyola-related site for days, and this is certainly an excellent find. Thanks a ton! Now to sift through all the data....

According to her blog, Alex quit his job at redloyola, and went to work for someone else. Which included his trip to the US. One of Alex's pic's of the laptop, shows icons for SKYPE and MESSENGER. I am searching for his name on SKYPE and thinking of leaving Stephanie a message, asking for his name on there if I can't find it.

loyola.alex on SKYPE Elk Grove, US ??? might not be him. I added him as contact, with message "Did you work at Redloyola?"

I've been reading trough Stephanie's blog in livejournal, Alex has been acting quite weird for some time, it seems. One thing I found interesting is that Stephanie mentions Alex talking about color bars and values, so the RGB theory is getting stronger. But... what kind of password is input as a color?

Anyway, we need to contact Stephanie, and I can't find a mail for her, so I may have to log into livejournal and leave there a message. I'd prefer talking to her rather than the company alex was so angry with.

After browsing through Stephanie's journal entries, I've collected the following tidbits:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Stephanie
- Chef, owns a restaurant called Seaside Cafe, located in Barcelona.
- Born in Chicago.
- Spearheaded the Loyola Scholarship foundation.
- Has a brother named Joseph.
- Married Alex in 1997.

Alex
- Parents live in Madrid.
- Gets seasick easily.

Meren
- 8 years old

Sofia
- Born in Madrid.
- Worked with Alex to develop redLoyola.

Beginning in the March 19th, 2006 journal entry, Alex becomes increasingly worried/nervous/angry. There is mention of a new partner/employee, which is hinted at as the source of the rage. Alex's anger builds until he quits redLoyola. During this time, it is mentioned that Alex is losing his vision and needs glasses.

These are the journal entries, oldest to newest, detailing Alex's troubles up until his disappearance:

March 19th, 2006 - "Back Home"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2006/03/19/
September 18th, 2006 - "Alex" - Someone is lying?
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2006/09/18/
September 11th, 2007 - "Somethings wrong"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2007/09/11/
November 16th, 2007 - "The Anger!"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2007/11/16/
December 26th, 2007 - "Gone!?"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2007/12/26/
January 28th, 2008 - "Alex quit"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2008/01/28/
February 10th, 2008 - "Job offer"
http://sloyola.livejournal.com/2008/02/10/
February 29th, 2008 - "Alex is missing!"

Good find. I tried searching on Messenger, but couldn't catch any matching usernames.

I think this may be a clue towards examining the Flickr photos. Perhaps our RGB code helps decrypt the images in a way, or vice versa?

I've tried to leave a message on Steph's blog three times, and I only get ERROR ERROR ERROR. Frustrating. (yes I have an account, yes I was logged in.) Maybe someone else can try. Im BettyLou41 on SKYPE and on livejournal.

EDIT/ after signing up on livejournal, email has to be validated to post a comment. Livejournal probably should have said that instead of just saying ERROR. Either way, I still feel dumb! lol

So, I left a message asking for more clues from Steph.

*one odd thing, an ARG called Rabbithole that ended a month or so ago, had Stephanie and Alex, who were kidnapped.....I hope its just a coincidence.

I am fairly certain this is the Georgia State University dorms (former Olympic Village) in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, as seen on I-85 West through the city.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2306921439/
This is also from Atlanta, and the picture was taken from the same highway as the above one. I know the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers building in Atlanta has a similar metallic peach sculpture on top - I believe that may be the building in this picture, unless there is a second such sculpture.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2306921469/
I don't recognize the white building to the left of this photo, but the two skyscrapers with the white structures on top are also from downtown Atlanta.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2307724466/
This picture was taken on I-16, near the town of Statesboro in middle Georgia.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2307724242/
I believe I recognize this location (at least the buildings within) as having been taken within Atlanta proper. The shape of the skyscraper in the center seems familiar, and if it is the location I believe it to be, then construction that has been going on in the area would explain the crane.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2307724102/
This is a curious one. The lighted sign is easily identified as a sign located on the Georgia Tech Campus (note the yellow GT and yellow jacket mascot). This, like a couple of the above ones, was taken from I-85, westbound. Additionally, the interior of the car the photograph was taken from is visible as a reflection.

Those are all the ones I have personal experience with. From online research:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2306987393/
This is the Duquesne Incline in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2306983197/
This is presumably the Kennywood Amusement Park, also in Pittsburgh.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/2306987391/
A google search for "primanti" leads to the Primanti Brothers Restaurant, located in Pittsburgh.

I am not familiar with the Heinz bottle. However, the remaining pictures show contain the same yellow bridge from the incline photograph.

The Georgia photos stand out as a bit of an anomaly to me - all of them with the exception of the Georgia Southern University sign were taken within Atlanta proper. Statesboro, in contrast, a significant driving distance away (two hours or more).

An international traveler to the southeast is likely to land in Hartsfield, which is one of the busiest airports in the world (located in Atlanta), but it would be very strange for someone to drive an hour out of their way to Statesboro before heading back north to arrive in Pittsburgh.

However, Statesboro is conveniently located between Atlanta and Savannah. Savannah is a coastal city that still sees significant ship traffic. I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say that were someone (perhaps someone being pursued?) wished to get to Atlanta from overseas in a secretive manner, they just might come by sea - arriving in Savannah, and heading north to go through Atlanta and to Pittsburgh.

That's all I've got for now. Here's to hoping we can get logged into the redloyola site soon.
