Why would he do that? To bug the living shit out of nutjobs like you who hang on every single letter, word, phrase, and sentence that people like him utter.

Well i'm hardly a nutjob... I mean, we're all a little crazy, but I don't hang on to every single "letter, word, phrase, and sentence he utters", im just using common sense. And i'm a good listener!

Honestly, I don't really care either way, if there's a connection or not. It doesn't affect my life in any way... I just think it's kind of cool that there is a connection.

Does everyone not remember how the actors and directors and Abrams said that much of the dialog was ad-libbed? Do you get the feeling that Goddard might be feeling a little shat upon in that his writing was not the immutable truth of the film?

Hard to create canon when others are paraphrasing it before the audience gets to hear it.

In so many ways though- he's right. I mean, In the end, the viral marketing was solely meant to play into our desire to know more... The viral itself wasn't planned... It kinda just happened based upon the initial reaction to the audience towards both the movie and the fact that J.J. Abrams' name was attached to it, which is why it was so messy. I mean, in time and hopefully w/ the coming DVD it'll be explained, simply because of one fact- Tagruato and Slusho are both found in the movie, and quoting Drew's very words:

Quote:
the only thing that matters is what's in the movie

Good point, I also think he feels a little betrayed by the fact that he probably had all his own ideas about stuff like MGP's origin, age etc. that never get addressed, that the viral or even JJ's current ideas and canon now disagree with.

I haven't listened to it, but I saw that Youtube clip someone posted in here, so I just wanted to point something out: Why would he say the name is explained in the movie when it's not?

That confused me.

He seems to think it was explained in the movie.

In which case, we must have missed it.

It's probably some sort of metaphor.

I think he meant that the title of the movie makes sense because all the reasons why it's called Cloverfield, are there.

It's just the name of the case, just like they named the hurricane Katrina. The government comes up with names for cases/incidents and sometimes the name is not pertinent to the case/incident.

I also thought when he said "I could tell you right now the reason why it's called Cloverfield, but it wouldn't matter, it's all there."

Something like that...

Big teasing bastard!!!

Evil or Very Mad

When I first had trouble getting the download of it, I wanted a transcript too... Finally happened and I can say, Gigantis, good luck on that- the reason why it hasn't been done yet is because there is just SOOOOO much to transcript.

One of the things i found pretty interesting from that interview is the fact that he says its a fifty story monster. How many different heights are we going to be given for Clover? I think every person connected to this movie has given a different height. Weve heard now everywhere from twenty five stories to fifty stories. Unless hes just being general about the height, its like they dont even know how big it is

Also theres the explanation to how it could be recorded over when a sd card cant be. There was a flash card and a tape and the jostling of the camera and turning it on and off was what was responsible for the flashback footage

I'm sticking w/ the article on Cinex

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24850

or

http://home.windstream.net/dacevedo/cloverfield//GroundZero.swf

[page 2, the second full paragraph]

they said it was 350 ft. I mean, they're the ones that created the buildings and the monster, so I'm sure they should know the range of height better than anyone.

No, dont get me wrong, im not saying hes right or anything. i just think its funny how were getting heights all over the spectrum. Plus all the other stuff he seemed clueless to or just outright said wasnt true. I mean hes the writer. But i definitely agree that i get the feeling alot of what he wrote was changed. Didnt come off as bitter about it to me, but definitely like he thought it would be better if they stuck with his way . Who knows. Ive never seen a movie before where all the principle players in making it are in such disagreement over major points about the movie, its almost like they kept it so secret that even they got confused
