I tried that in the Vigenere cipher, I must have counted the letters out wrong when I did it. I came across this Lewis Carol article called "The Alphabet Cipher" when I was googling, basically describing the vigenere cipher. That must have been our hint at how to break the code. I feel dumb for not checking my work

There's a new blog on Pruis Memoria, looks like we might be getting some video of Hitler, or get this the future. Should we be steering Jessica away from Jack? I mean, if project Lither starts later today, that's when she will get sent back right?

I emailed her, telling her to postpone her photoshoot further if she hadn't already gone through with it, Jack may be dangerous.

New reply from Dr. Jack today, very interesting detail about "The Protectorate", it seems this might be someone else to watch out for.
To Jack I wrote:

Dr. Devoux,

Thank you for your patience with me, I feel I have a much clearer picture of things now. I understand the need for occasional contracts as well, I've been caught up in them myself. I am unclear as to which Protectorate you mean, do you mean the state itself, or Pompey? What has you interested in their conversations together?

Your description of time seems very similar to Buddhist teachings, I think I comprehend the general idea. I've seen your new post as well, and I must say it helped as well. To be clear, these prius memoria could also become posterius memoria? Or future memories? Even memories of future generations? (and with this the implication that time in the future is already decided?)

Mr Kint-

He wrote:

Mr. Kint,

The Protectorate is neither. It is most certainly all around us. That's all I intend to comment upon that subject.

As for posterius memoria (oh the office jokes), it's theoretical and complex. It certainly creates complexities, particularly, "If I decide to change the future, it should alter it instantly and change the timeline to suit that change. So as long as I 'intend' to do it, the timeline should shift accordingly regardless of whether I do it or not." Also, that second bit we're not sure of yet - the timeline could be rigid, but we're more apt to believe it shifts, anyways.

As for genetic memory attained via the OMNIS machine, posterius memoria is simply not possible. DNA carries the memories and supplements them to a part of the brain - we believe it is the hippocampus, but it's impossible to tell for sure. If the DNA doesn't have the memories to carry, it's inaccessible. If the memories are too faint in DNA, re: a distant relative, then it's also unaccessible, or only accessible in infrequent bursts.

Dr. Jack Devoux, Sc.

Also, my email to warn Jessica did no good, so I'm guessing we are too late. She's probably already under the treatment since today was the big day for project Lither.

Wow this thing has really blown up since I last visited - been away with busy-ness and stuff. Two new e-mails from Scindo:

Scindo wrote:

with a life-long lock
awaiting the sensation
of a short, sharp shock
from a cheap and chippy chopper
on a big black block

Letters capitalized: UATOHR
Possibly "Author"?

Second e-mail:
Scindo wrote:
only through vigilance can you truly understand
only through acceptance will you ever comprehend
the powers that belie you will never come to stand
amongst all your insignificance you keep within your hand

Following picture was attached to the last e-mail:

I was just about to post all that. D;

Anyways, I tried uncamouflaging the image, using "author" as a password, but that was a no go.

Also, "ve" is dropped out from believe. Any significance?

I ALSO tried editing in photoshop to make that stamp in the upper right corner of the image more visible, but it also doesn't seem significant.

Anyways, who is that?

And squirrelgirl?

Google got me with the super hero Squirrel girl, and the music lyrics "Little Acorns" by the White Stripes.

EDIT The image is of W. S. Gilbert, the AUTHOR of that poem. It's an excerpt from a play called The Mikado.

EDIT2 This was hidden in the image. The password was Gilbert.

Thought.

Is there a timestamp to that mp3 file? Does it correspond to the timeline of events that you know so far?

I believe this would be the time stamp:
"March 18, 2008, 11:52:02 AM"

It seems correct considering it's in the AM and apparently, Jack had begun project hitler last night. Jessica must've woken up late this morning, unable to recall last night's excursions, and left a message on Jack's voicemail.

Jessica is under the impression that I'm some perverted stalker D; I think someone should e-mail her and prod her into giving us Jack's phone number.

Thanks. >.O Though, that one was fairly easy compared to previous "tests" given to us by Scindo.

Nice work. New blog post, the voice mail must be from this morning after Jack kidnapped her and dosed her.

He means belie, I actually had to look up the dictionary entry to be sure exactly what it meant though.

1 a: to give a false impression of b: to present an appearance not in agreement with
2 a: to show (something) to be false or wrong b: to run counter to : contradict
3: disguise

I think that whole second chunk isn't from a poem, but written by Scindo.

New email from Scindo, attached is a picture of Hitler attached with symbols stuck on it
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Those are wingdings numbers which translate to 641 715 3911 67598#(3) the last one is actually the number sign, but it might have been three so I included it.

These were in the subject "1/10 1/4 1/9 1/5 1/3 1/9 1/4 2/1 1/5 1/3"
and the test of the email reads
Quote:

The Enigma cipher is most well known for it's contributions to World War II on the Germans' side. They developed what came to be known as The Enigma Machine. The machine was based on a system of three rotors that substituted cipher text letters for plain text letters. The rotors would spin in conjunction with each other, thus performing varying substitutions much like the Caeser Shift. When a letter was typed on the keyboard of the machine, it was first sent through the first rotor, which would shift the letter according to its present setting. The new letter would then pass through the second rotor, where it would be replaced by a substitution according to the present setting of the second rotor. This new letter would in turn pass through the third rotor, again being substituted accordingly. Next, this new letter would be bounced off of a reflector, and back through the three rotors in reverse order. The trick that made Enigma so powerful for its time though, was the spinning of the rotors. As the plain text letter passed through the first rotor, the first rotor would rotate one position. The other two rotors would remain stationary until the first rotor had rotated 26 times (the number of letters in the alphabet and therefore, one full rotation). Then the second rotor would rotate one position. After the second rotor had rotated 26 times (26X26 letters, since the first rotor has to rotate 26 times for every time the second rotor rotates), the third rotor would rotate one position. The cycle would continue like this for the entire length of the message. The result was a shifting shift. In other words, an s could be encoded as a b in the first part of the message, and then as an m later in the message. This principle of the shifting rotors allowed for 26X26X26 = 17576 possible positions of the rotors."

I have a job interview in a little bit, but if this isn't figured out by the time I get back, I'll start working on it.
