Well, the MP3 is tagged with the artist as "Peggy Lee" and the title "Fever". Although it still sounds like hell...

Assuming it's "first MP3, second JPEG", now we arguably have the MP3 as "fever". Perhaps with an image we can make a URL or something?

I'm lost here as well.

Drats! Beaten again! Only by a minute!

I guess I'll detail the site, then.

Title of the pain is "vain", it only contains a large picture of a red herring [redherring.gif] and accompanies the text "you thing you're so clever, don't you?"

Nothing hidden in the source code, parent page contains nothing.

Image looks like an Enigma machine, no?

"Anzeige" has a bunch of translations; I'm not sure what's what. Somebody speak German 'round here? Smile

I don't think the file is camo'd or anything, because when I opened it up in notepad, I noticed this at the very beginning of the file.

Looks like that is just stored as EXIF data. You can see in Windows if you look at the summary tab of the Properties window when you right-click on it.

Here's a bit on Gaumont, creator of the chronomégaphone:

ETA - here's how I see the lines in the summary.

Looked up some stuff, to try and piece all these clues together, and this is what I found.

First, the definition of a "red herring", the image we were given on the googlepages website:
n.

1. A smoked herring having a reddish color.
2. Something that draws attention away from the central issue.

I bolded the latter because I believe that's how it was being used.

Also, when I looked up the Enigma Machine, I found a nice little page here and also, there's a movie called Hitler's Enigma. Maybe someone should try to watch it?

Other than that, I'm still pretty lost. There's a new blog by Jack that isn't really informative. I'm guessing that there's something we're gonna need to solve with the enigma machine.

Just found this as well:
Anzeige f , -, -n
a (bei Behörde) report ( wegen of) , (bei Gericht) legal proceedings pl
b (=Bekanntgabe) (auf Karte, Brief) announcement , (in Zeitung) notice
(=Inserat, Reklame) advertisement
c (=das Anzeigen) [+von Temperatur, Geschwindigkeit etc] indication
(=Messwerte) reading , (auf Informationstafel) information
d (=Anzeigetafel) (Comput) display
e (=Instrument) indicator, gauge

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://scindo.memoria.googlepages.com/feverenigma.htm

I now see that was wrong, and sure enough I got a page that said...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Title: naiv

...so, using...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://scindo.memoria.googlepages.com/enigmafever.htm

I get another page! With the following on it...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Title: vain

(Picture is of Leonardo da Vinci)

"You are very far off the path.

I am here to bring you back."

in the comments is "adn.prtctrt.gglepgs.cm/time.mp3"

I gotta run to work right now, but that's somethin!

Nice work guys! Are we supposed to know Jack's location before we e-mail the protectorate? That's what I think the message means.

Background image on the page with the Ace and birds is called 'sexyhexy.jpg'

Page title: "don't you like my color scheme? check the picture."

Solved the last bit in my previous post.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The color of the heart in the image was hex value C80405. This leads to:
http://scindo.memoria.googlepages.com/c80405.htm

That page says:
when in rome, do as the romans do.
login code: whitelight, pw: shine

Highlight the page and get:
jga ghset hf sjd pcmnxs nc fg qanbphaxmx.

Page title:
nas'h nug lshd hg paqdn nchaksd? hasld psf lacbhfgs.

Code comment:
amn.prtcteSPLATgml.cm
(admin.protectorateSPLATgmail.com I would guess)

Background picture title:
nausmxns.jpg

ETA
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The page titles between the last page and this new page should set up a simple substitution cipher I believe. Spoke too soon.
don't you like my color scheme? check the picture.
equals
nas'h nug lshd hg paqdn nchaksd? hasld psf lacbhfgs.

Nevermind about the cipher I guess. Everything encoded on one page is decoded on the other.

Anybody use this info to get anywhere yet? Is there someplace to use the login, or does it merely need to be emailed to the admin address? Not sure what to do now.
